Suspicious payment policy. They agreed to do a real estate appraisal on a building in the neighborhood for $ 350, but wanted full payment up front. On thinking it over, I said I was willing to pay 50% down, and the remaining 50% C.O.D. of the finished appraisal. Since the sole benefit to me is the final report, I can’t think of a legitimate reason they insist I take all the risk by paying 100% up front, yet in response to my offer, they declined the job — after having invested time doing the building site visit!
