GOODNEWS! They did not move, they merely re-thought the business. They have just reopened as a casual Mexican restaurant, and it is GOOD. Name: Don Chignon. Same owners, very different cooks and menu!

Super disappointed that this place is closed. Great prices and amazing food! Keeping an eye out for them to open up in another neighborhood. I feel those ridiculous rent prices were jacked up because of the stadium and it’s so unfortunate. Please open back up somewhere!

Thanks to Unilocal,I discovered this gem right near the Barclay’s Center. It was quiet on the night I ate here, and the food was outstanding. My sea bass was grilled perfectly, and came with some awesome mashed potatoes and a nice side salad. The prices here are very reasonable. Next time I am in the area, I will certainly be back!

I’ve walked by this place a hundred times and finally stopped in for lunch. I’m glad i did! While the décor is dark, dated and relatively uninviting, the food is GREAT! Fresh, not frozen, fish made to order. Good sized portions at very reasonable prices, especially for seafood. The sides are yummy and everything tastes and looks fresh and homemade. Their bucket(you’ll see what i mean) of tirimisu is amazing! I took off a star for the spotty service. Sometimes the ladies forget about you, especially when it’s slow. But they’re always very nice.

Delicious and inexpensive fish, salads, Pannini and pasta. Not fancy or particularly stylish or themed décor. Good for quick inexpensive dinners before a game

Fish n Sips made it to the cbslocal list of 9best places for fish n chips. So of course I had to come try it. For $ 9, u can choose to get a fish n chips order of pollack, cod, whiting or tilapia. I went all out n got one order of pollack n one order of cod. For the pollack, the batter pulls away from the fish, became kinda hard n was unevenly distributed. Sadly, I’m one of those people that eats a lot but never cooks. Maybe it had something to do with the type of fish? cuz the batter on the cod came out fine. still a little thicker than I expected but good. The batter also tasted better on the cod. Both the fish were moist n light. Cod was cooked just right so it was juicy, o so juicy! and came off in little flakes. Wow! factor. Cod better than Pollack in my opinion. I also shared an avocado salad with a friend. They used the big green hall avocadoes that were a little less creamy and more dry. It’s not bad for a salad I guess so u don’t get mush everywhere. In this case, u sacrifice taste for consistency. Greens were very fresh, came in a pesto sauce but the whole salad was very acidic. Too acidic for me. But my friend liked it. Matter of personal preference. The lemonade is a must try. Very refreshing with bits of mint. But I would go for the small. Between the lemonade and the salad, I was starting to get a little reflux. Tartar sauce was good. I wasn’t a big fan of their house hot sauce but it’s worth a try simply because their recipe is so original. Spicy n very tangy. Service was great while we were there so I gave them an extra star. My experience was very relaxing, good for a casual night. There was nobody standing over you to rush u out as soon as u were done with your meal. Matter of fact, the table next to us was more than halfway done when we walked in and still chatting away when we left. That makes a big difference to me. I’ll be back to try the shrimp tacos n the grilled corn. One last note, this place is GREAT for fish lovers. From my glimpse of the menu, they have all types of fish served in a sandwich or panini or grilled in a platter.

Plain in appearance, incredible food! Had the Spicy Fish sticks as a starter, Lentil soup, then the Grouper and it was amazing. Sautéed Spinach to die for! Nice Chilean Malbec on the wine list. Price was very reasonable and staff was really nice. I’ll be back!

Stopped by for a quick dinner before a show at Barclay’s. The two of us split fish & chips and an avocado salad, as well as a lemonana. Fish and chips were just whatever: is that homemade ketchup though? Seemed extra sweet… The lemonana was probably the best part of the meal. So refreshing. Maybe I should try to make it at home? I don’t know if I would go again if I was in the neighborhood, but would if I lived nearby.

We got 2 orders the other night. 1. Cajun Tilapia with Sautéed Vegetables and Rice. 2. Salmon with House Salad and Sautéed Spinach. Everything was great! The food was flavorful and well prepared. The salmon was good, but the cajun tilapia was excellent and definitely stole the show. I would definitely order from here again!

Absolutely one of the best deals around for super tasty food and casual calm environment. I’ve never had a meal that disappoints here. The service is friendly and welcoming. My Fave: cajun tilapia with spinach and house salad — comes with tartar sauce and lemon.(heaping portion all around, totally filling) Random note: They have a front and back entrance so you can park on the street along the back if needed.

first time here… and even though I didn’t want to like it… I loved it. Before we even left, planned on coming back. Cajun tilapia with mashed potato and house salad was so very yummy, there wasn’t a morsel left in my plate. Fish was a generous portion, extremely fresh, seasoned perfectly, and still juicy and flaky. Their homemade tartar sauce definitely has the potential to be addictive. BF got the fish sandwich– it was great(nothing mind blowing though) — and served with fries. He says he would get it again. Personally, I’d go for the grilled fish entrée everytime. Our server was super nice, everything came out quickly and there was zero pressure to leave after finishing our meal(important for those of us who like to linger). In a nutshell? Quality inexpensive guilt-free food in a very down to earth atmosphere.

Two words: Salmon Tacos! These are the best fish tacos I’ve ever had, and I try them everywhere I go. My husband I and usually share an order of 3 tacos, the Purple Rain salad, and another fish dish. The grouper was good, as was the fish & chips(cod), but the tacos are so good we may stop trying other things. Their desserts are OK, but not spectacular. I count calories, so I have dessert at home; not wasting them on «OK». Service has always been very good there, though I’ve seen other reviewers ding them for it. Twice, I’ve asked for a mug of hot water with lemon, and was served it with a smile. Finally, the ambience is laid back and the restaurant is fairly quiet; a big plus for anyone with hearing problems.

I’ve been to this place a few times with my partner after the gym for a somewhat healthy, but filling meal. The fish is on point, the salmon and Cajun tilapia are my favorite. The mashed potatoes and the cream of spinach are killer! The atmosphere is pretty casual and laid back — not fancy at all. Service was efficient.

So the food is pretty ok and they have free wifi. I ordered the fish sandwich with a side of fry. The flavors worked really well together, although the fish could’ve used a little more love in my opinion. The ambiance of the place is nice and they seem to have a good selection of drinks. The only problem I had was with the staff. The waitress was completely inattentive although the place was near empty. She placed all of her energy on a couple sitting next to me, only asking me if I needed anything when she set my plate down. I literally had to walk to the bar to get a refill on my water. I was not impressed. Completely turned off by the experience and likely won’t be going back.

The grilled salmon was pretty darn good… As well as the sautéed spinach, and mashed potatoes. My boyfriend had the salmon teriyaki, which was also amazing. There is limited seating inside. There aren’t many places to get seafood with generous portions at an affordable price. This is one of those places that I want them to succeed, but still be a hole in the wall that stays my own little secret for awesome food. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Dinner before the game! My friend and I only had about 30 minutes to enjoy dinner before the Nets game. Luckily, we were seated immediately upon stepping into Fish & Sip. The server was quick and friendly. I ordered the tilapia and my friend got the salmon. My dish was very delicious, moist, and flavorful. The price was also very reasonable. I’ll be back.

Their Unilocal check-in special is a bottle of red wine! No, seriously. You just have to spend $ 35+. And spend $ 35+ we did. I had originally intended to use a gift certificate, but they didn’t renew their contract for 2012, so I have to get a refund. Just a heads up if you have any left over from 2011! In any case, I’d been meaning to visit F&S for over a year and was glad that I finally did. The décor is all over the place, and it looks a lot like a takeout place inside, which I didn’t expect. No wait for a table on a Thursday night. We started with the grilled corn, which seems to be the new«it» thing. It was decently cheesy, but way overpriced; $ 4 for one halved cob might make even Habana Outpost blush! However, entrees were super affordable. I had the cajun tilapia with rice and sauteed spinach, and it was just $ 12! The wild rice with raisins made a great side. The tilapia could’ve been spiced just a tad bit more, but the yummy tartar sauce took care of that. It was seared perfectly and came off very flaky(that’s a good thing). I also had a hazelnut iced coffee, which wasn’t anything to write home about. But that unexpectedly free bottle of wine sure took me home! Service was quick and our waitress was super helpful and accommodating. Definitely check out Fish & Sip! They also have a cool bathroom with mermaids and an octopus and play a lot of 3 Doors Down.

If there’s one thing that this joint does right, it’s sauces. Seriously. From the homemade tartar to the chimichurri to the homemade hot sauce to whatever that deliciousness was that came with the Three Musketeers appetizer, those are some bangin’ flavors. I don’t think anything I’ve eaten has been particularly mind-blowing, but at the same time, NOTHING has been bad. This is the sort of place that you could eat at weekly, and never get bored. It might not be fancy, but it’s fresh, affordable, tasty food. No pretension, no bullshit, no wizards. Although, I wish there were wizards. I like wizards.
