I would like to preface this review by saying I almost don’t want to write it because I don’t want other soap makers going in on MYSPOT. But as a small business owner I really believe a good business deserves a good review, so here it is. If you end up ordering from them, you can thank karma and not me for the recommendation. I am a handmade soap maker with over 12 years of experience and an an aspiring baker and a big foodie. I have been using Fine Cocoa’s cocoa butter in my soaps exclusively for about 5 years and their cocoa powder in my desserts(and many of my soaps) for just as long. Fine Cocoa Products is a very well run family business who has been in the industry for MANY years and completely knowledgeable of all things cocoa. Don’t believe me? TRY asking them a question regarding chocolate. Go ahead. Prepare to get your chocolate knowledge increased by 1000% and your chocolate work rocked! As for the quality of their product, the cocoa butter I buy is always on point. Trust me when I tell you from over 12 years of soap making experience that it IS possible to get crappy cocoa butter and when you do, it can destroy a whole batch of soap and I would imagine could really mess up a dessert. Unfortunately many people who sell to soap makers do not sell the quality of cocoa butter you will find from Fine Cocoa. I have a huge following of customers who tell me my soap is the most moisturizing they have ever used(seriously, check my own Unilocal reviews under Gotham City Soap Company and you will see) and I attribute much of that to the large amount of quality cocoa butter I add in my bars. The cocoa powder I have used in everything from cakes and brownies to homemade cocoa mixes that I give out as xmas gifts. They have an AMAZING selection and they REALLY know their stuff when it comes to cocoa. I have learned so much from these people just asking for suggestions as to what to use for what purpose. They are family run, they are in NY, really amazing product, they have excellent customer service and they really truly know their stuff. Seriously. Why would you buy your ingredients anywhere else? So Ill tell you in advance, you’re welcome for the recommendation.
