Horrible service. I would give negative stars if I could. Driver was over 20 minutes late to pick us up and then told us it would take an hour longer to get there than planned. He was very rude and told us they didn’t need our business. That they wouldn’t go out of business just because they lost one customer. HE wouldn’t stop yelling and spouting out excuses. HORRIBLE service. Do not use.

My car was 45 mins late, despite multiple calls. Missed my flight and had to pay a 300 $ change fee. My driver, however, was delightful and so helpful. If I could book him directly, I totally would. It was not his fault at all and he went above and beyond to try to help. Lesson learned– don’t depend on the dispatchers.

First of all whenever you call the phone rings and rings. When they do decide to pick up they tell you a car will pick you up 5 minutes later and long and behold after 30 minutes waiting they show up. I had to go to the airport. They send me a driver that didn’t even know the streets in Brooklyn and claimed he’s been working here for years. The only reason I have continued using them is because they have been in the nieghborhood for about 20 years. I know with this unreliability I should just sign up to über or find a more dependable cab service company. They used to have good drivers but now they hire anyone. Definitely will never use them again and don’t recommend anyone to use them if you actually want to arrive to your destination on time

They said 7 mins after 50 mins no car arrived and now they are not answering my phone call.

First experience was great and fare was good. The second time I booked a car a day in advance, and it didn’t show up. The third time I booked a taxi for a friend, then called back 10 minutes later to book a taxi for myself. The dispatcher thought I was canceling my first order and making a new one, when I was actually making a second order. Won’t be using them again.

I’ve been using this car service for years and had little to no problems. Recently the prices seem to just become made up as you go especially on weekends. When I acquired about the price of a ride that I normally take that was wrongly priced. A ignorant female dispatcher with lack in customer service thought it was okay for her to snarl & act as if this was a normal rate. Safe to say I will never use this service again & will stop those around me from too.

I read the Unilocal reviews and decided to try this car service to book a ride from Brooklyn to JFK. The guy who picked up was unfriendly and difficult to hear. He gave little feedback and there were so many pauses that I wasn’t sure if he got my order or if we got disconnected. Then I asked him for a quote and he said $ 45.
After we hung up, I began to hesitate about the price and called up another car service that had similar ratings on Unilocal.They charged me only $ 35! I then called Family Car Service back and politely asked them to cancel my request. The guy grumbled something and hung up on me. I honestly don’t understand where their good Unilocal reviews come from. Maybe it was a fluke?

I’ve used this car service twice now to go to the airport. Great flat rates and always on time. The man that answers the phone is always friendly too, which is a plus. Would recommend!

I have used this car service since 2006. On Tuesday night I called for a car that never came. No one picked up my many calls to say the car was on the way or not. I am not using these guys ever again.

I have used this car service 3 times to and from JFK and they have been very reliable and well priced. Cars are clean and drivers are friendly, on time all three times. Great alternative to the yellow cab. I definitely recommend them.

Called for a cab and was told it would be there in 7 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes, I called to see when it would arrive. The person said 4 minutes. Cab never showed up! Never using this company again. Use über instead. It came 3 minutes after I requested it.

Family is my go-​to from Carroll Gardens to bay Ridge. I love these guys. Always quick. Always polite. My driver tonight was a total sweetheart. Always easy on the wallet.

My review is going to parallel Jason’s below mine. Standing in line for a crazy long security at JFK, so I figure why not write my review immediately?
Mohamed was so great. Flat rate to JFK, fast, friendly and clean car. I got off work early and had to change my pick up time last minute to thirty minutes earlier and guess what? It was no problem. He said he’d be there in five minutes and he was.
Turns out I’m early for my flight, good thing because as mentioned. .. huge security line, and I can relax.
I would use this car service again in a heartbeat and definitely request Mohamed as a driver!

They’re rude on the phone, never on time and overpriced. Stay away from their service.

Angelo arrived early (before 4:30 am) and was such a great driver had a great car and the rate quoted was the rate requested. I highly recommend them and will be calling them next time i need a car service!

I’ve lived in Park Slope for 3 years and have taken this car service many times. The only good thing about them is they are fast to arrive. But more than once we have had rude drivers that refuse to take us into the city. Today I was late for an appointment, the R train wasn’t running to Union Street and so I went to family. They told me to wait 5 minutes, and then 10 minutes later my driver arrived and then refused to take me into the city.
They also charge a $ 3 fee if you have a dog. Ridiculous.
Never again. Too many options in this area to settle for this BS.

He will pick you up on time and deliver you safely to anywhere you wish to go.
He drives a very clean 2011 Mercedes Benz ML350. Black on black and ready to get you through the NY streets to your choice of destination.

Mohamed was really friendly. Very cool New Yorker who has lived in the city for 25 yeas. He knows the area well and gets through traffic.
Had a spare charger for my iPhone and his car was very comfortable. Spotless!
I’ll be using this great service for all of my trips in and out of the city!

Family Car Service SAVED our^SSES, plain and simple.
At 4:45AM in the middle of a snow storm, another car service called us and said they could not «find» a driver to take us to the airport at our reserved time of 5AM. After screaming that I would sue them if we didn’t catch our plane, I called Family. No problem, they said, 5AM sharp. On 15 minutes notice, they had a huge SUV outside our door waiting for us. Our driver was pleasant and polite, and drove us safely through the snow to JFK. For CHEAP.
Family Car Service has earned my praise and my patronage for a lifetime. It is true that their switchboard has a «nowhereland» line that rings and rings on occasion. But if you call back, you usually get someone on your second try. This minor inconvenience is worth it, because Family is the best car service in Brooklyn!

Familia/​family is the best car service in the area. Reasonable rates (the cheapest to the airports), and prompt, friendly service. The drivers also know how to effectively maneuver during rush hour, which is appreciated.
My only complaint is that there is a fee to use a credit card. (This should be illegal to pass on to consumers because it hurts them and businesses can cheat on their taxes based on cash income, but I digress…)

I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars. Yes, the dispatch radio is always on, and yes it’s annoying to pay with a card, but if you need to go to manhattan right after hurricane sandy, or go to the hospital, or go to the airport, they are always there. They are on time, nice, and reliable. What more do you need? Plus, prices are usually better than yellow cabs.
