After reading the previous review I was nervous the tamales were gone because there was no cart outside. Fear not! Tamales, juices, tortas, etc. are sold at the very back of this store through a door behind the meat counter in the winter. The man and woman behind the counter couldn’t be more friendly and really make you feel as though you’re in their kitchen. We ordered all four of the tamales which were excellent but the mole was our absolute favorite. We’ve now gone back three wekends in a row and are mildly addicted to this place. Next time we’re going to try some of the drinks. YUM!

In the afternoon, a small tamale and fresh juice stand sits outside the Evelyn Mini Market. The tamales are just $ 1.25, and seriously delicious. The varieties include verde(green), rojo(red), mole(brown w/cocoa), and ojo de platano(plantain’s eye), which is wrapped in a banana leaf and probably the tastiest of all. The juices are nice too. In the evening, everything moves inside to the back of the deli, to a grimy four-tabled room where the cooking happens.
