You can go to Gronics, which is at Long Island City (Queens). They open Mon to Sat 7:30AM to 4:30PM, Open to the public. They take all kinds of electronic junk except for tube TV and CRT monitors.

I was disappointed that NYC’s Sanitation Department stopped holding their biannual ewaste recycling events because of budget cuts and wasn’t sure what I was going to do with my 5 year-​old (virtually unused) scanner and my ancient dot matrix printer. Luckily I found this place on the
Web site.
It may be a bit out of the way for most folks, but it’s worth the trip to salve the eco-​concerned conscience. You can drop off your outdated equipment here, or from the looks of their Web site you can even schedule a pickup.
