Came here for dinner with my Girlfriend the other night and it was just awful. The guacamole was pure salt and lime, and the consistency was very strange. The veggie burrito was a salt lick, and the veggie tacos were pure oil. The service also wasn’t amazing, the waiter is also the cook and the whole atmosphere was just very loud, unorganized and unprofessional. Small children were running around and touching all the tables. You’re better off getting Taco Bell or Chipotle if you’re in the mood for Mexican!

After reading the great reviews on this place, I was excited to try El Kucho, anticipating friendly service and(fingers crossed) some of the best tacos in Bushwick. Well, needless to say by the 2 star review, I was disappointed… The hostess/server was sitting at the bar and stared at me blankly and deadpan for a few seconds before I had to prompt my own intention for walking in door — awkward! She then handed me a menu and said I could sit anywhere. The décor makes it feel like they’re trying to make this place a slightly more upscale Mexican food alternative, but the service so far was making me feel anything but. So, I took my seat and a large bottle of water was placed on the table; which was nice. I love me some authentic Mexican tacos, so that’s exactly what I ordered. For $ 8 you get 3 fairly large tacos. I usually prefer ordering my tacos al la carte, but they didn’t have that option on the menu. The chicken was super bland and the tortilla was nothing to write home about. With all the other awesome Mexican food in the neighborhood, I won’t be returning again for the tacos, that’s for sure. This was an overall poor experience, I hate to say it.

The food here is delicious however their customer service is more than lacking. I paid $ 6 for two 3 ounce hot sauces to be delivered with my food and they forgot them and told me they wouldn’t deliver them and then hung up on me. In short, great food with very bad service

Best quality ingredients I’ve had from a Mexican take out in some time. Had the carne enchilada burrito from here and the meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Veggies included in the burrito were also great. Ordered the chips and queso dip side which was also quality. Green and red sauce both on point. Delivery was swift. You might just make this your regular deliver spot!

A wonderful family restaurant! The service has always been extremely kind and pleasant, and the food on point! I’ve tried: Veggie burrito Tamales Texas Shrimp Fajita dinner Guacamole(decent sized serving to share with someone) Ale Special(flan cheesecake) Horchata(less chalky than many, and very refreshing) The Ale Special is in my top 3 cheesecakes in the NY area(other two being Little Pie Company and Veniero’s). Burritos are good both when eating in and for delivery /takeout. The Fajita dinner is delicious and a fun experience all around. It’s a lot of food, and totally worth it!

El Kucho charges a *surprise extra $ 4 ‘sharing charge’. I was not especially hungry and had maybe three bites of my girlfriend’s burrito just to try it. Not only are sharing charges not typical, they did not inform us in advance about an extra charge. We will not be going back. There are plenty of other good restaurants on the block. The restaurant is also on the expensive side for what it is, regardless of a sneaky charge. Ruined the experience.

Amazing burritos(Vegetarian & chicken)!!! Would be a 5 star if they had margaritas. Great environment, small, cozy and friendly. Nice music! Used the leftovers insides of the burritos for breakfast with an runny egg on top 2 days later and still was amazing ! I highly recommend El Kucho!

Once in a lifetime, there comes along a Mexican restaurant like no other Mexican restaurant. When you discover it, it’s almost a little scary. You’re too young to settle down with just one Mexican restaurant… but this one is perfect, so you throw your fears aside and jump. How I love thee, El Kucho. Let me count the ways. First of all, the delivery came within the alotted time and was hot upon arrival. The enchiladas were amazing, as was the queso. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his chicken burrito(he got it twice this week already). We had a few changes/customizations to our order, and the restaurant carried it out perfectly. I’m so glad that we happened upon El Kucho and that you’re in our delivery range. Dreams do come true.

We wanted Mexican food. We didn’t know what we would be getting into as I’ve read reviews from all over the neighborhood regarding other restaurants and their lack of authenticity but this place is definitely a must! Walking up to the counter we were greeted from behind. Turning, we encountered a nice young man who I can only assume is the owner. He quickly seated us, gave us menus and our own carafe of water. We took into account a Unilocaler’s recommendation of the Texas CCQ(Chile Con Queso) and ordered that for our appetizer. The man was pleased and this is how we found out he was from Texas, y’all! We also ordered a veggie enchilada and three veggie tacos. We wanted horchata but he said he did not have any made at the time but offered us a variety of glass bottled Mexican sodas. While we waited we looked around and talked about how extremely neat and clean the restaurant was. Even the front patio was neat and well taken care of. Whomever was ranting and raving about the CCQ: yes, it’s good but it’s not amazing. Usually chile con queso is a little more soupy. The owner-man said it was made of velveeta. I’m sure over time they’ll perfect the consistency. Regardless, it was tasty. The enchilada is huge. It was like a huge taco. I took a picture of it next to a fork for scale. It was similar to our tacos in that it contained most of the same vegetable ingredients but that didn’t stop us from wolfing it down. The tortilla was homemade(YES!). I really liked that the fresh veggies included cauliflower which is not common. The tacos and the enchilada were well seasoned. The tacos came doubled up(two tortillas) as real street tacos do. I recommend this place to anyone who likes Mexican food. It is also good for vegetarians and vegans(leave off the cheeses). The owner-man also said they were in the works of perfecting their red and green sauces, both of which were absolutely delicious! I can’t tell you which I liked more as I put them both on all of our food selections. The staff is friendly. The price is just right. The atmosphere is neat and clean, and the food is authentic!

I’m new to Unilocal but I just moved here from California. My roommate recommended me to this spot. Let me just start with, they had great service and amazing food. It’s a family owned and operated business. We got started with a Texas CCQ which was great. Homemade chips and great crowed. My order was a shrimp fajitas burrito which was off the menu topped with red enchilada sauce. I have review some bad comment on this place. I don’t understand the negativity with certain people. New York is expensive and this spot offers a great taste of Authentic Mexican Food.

This place is amazing — I’ve been going there since it opened, and even though the menu has changed many times, everything has stayed impressively good. I’ve tried the quesadillas, the nachos(a must have — even the chips are perfect), the cemitas and tortas, and of course the tacos. The«vegetarian» stuff is better than your typical Mexican restaurant’s vegetarian offerings in that they don’t just plop an extra helping of beans on your order — the grilled, spiced vegetables are surprising(I’d say this is the first place I’ve ever had broccoli on nachos) but they somehow work. The desserts were a great addition to the menu — I dream about that flan cheesecake… And for the people complaining about prices — just because it’s «Mexican» doesn’t mean it has to be dirt cheap. This is markedly different from your hole in the wall(I’m looking at the person who thought it was acceptable to compare this place to a taco truck) and it’s a little disrespectful to make those comparisons. It’s still cheaper than most of the new restaurants popping up in the neighborhood — and, undoubtedly, better.

These people are cheap & unprofessional. After months of being a loyal customer, I can say that I will never be going back here again. Save yourself the money. There’s a bunch of perfectly good Mexican restaurants around the corner at a way better price. Try Leo’s down the block.

I would give 4 stars for the service but its unfortunately not possible. The reviews on this place are immaculate, and got us excited to go all the way there for top level mexican. The food did not live up to its 5 star reputation. The guacomole was too small in my opinion, and just a touch too lime-y. I usually get guac at a taco truck next to my house thats the same price with double the portion. The mixed chicken and beef fajitas were alright. The beef had a few hard spots and it wasnt anything super special. The place was cute, family friendly, and im pretty sure the owner served us. The experience was good, but we were expecting a more from the food.

#Friendly service. #I got the Pambazos sandwich(white bread topped with a red #guajillo pepper sauce and filled with pork loin and chorizo $ 5). I wondered what it looked like. So I got it. Look at the #pic if you want to know what it looks like! #They have a rewards card that they will #punch if you spend $ 10 or more. My meal was $ 9.xx. #LOL

Best Mexican food in Bushwick! I love this spot! It’s a newly opened Mexican restaurant decorated with a Brooklyn flair. First off Frida Kahlo is my favorite artist. I walked in and saw a giant mural of a modern version of Frida and smiled. I had the torta de pollo and loved it! It was delicious with avocado inside and some jalapeño peppers. Freshly made ingredients and taste. The restaurant itself is named after the owners son, an adorable toddler that you might see walking around from time to time. This place is BYOB and the prices are cheap for so much food! It also has free wi-fi! Yes, please! I would highly recommend this place if your looking for authentic Mexican food. I will definitely return.
