Aimlessly wandering around Brooklyn, my friend casually mentioned to me how he wanted to eat some pierogies. Coincidentally we had just passed this establishment which is in my opinion, truly a gem. Once in a while, you’re lucky enough to stumble upon a place that you realize would exceed your expectations, if you had any expectations prior to entering. After eating here, I realize how much of a pleasure it was that I wish I knew how to properly pronounce its name. I am not a food critic, but because of this place, I am now in love with whole grain bread spread with pork lard and pickles. As delicious as that was, that was just an appetizer. The pierogies were savory, especially with a dollop of sour cream. I tried not to chew so much so I could just savor the flavors, hoping they would just melt in my mouth. There were a variety of them: onions, meat, cheese, sweet potato. All of them were(*excuse my french*) F***INGYUMMY, and just as filling. It turned out that because we visited on a Monday, the price of pierogies were half off and as a result, our bill was minuscule. Factoring the cost, friendliness and service of the staff and most importantly, the deliciousness of the food, this spot is legitimately awesome.

My friends and I were searching for a cool place to eat while walking down Bedford when we stumbled upon this cool Polish restaurant because we were just craving something to eat. As soon as we got there, one of the servers came out in casual attire, a baseball hat and a flannel shirt and started talking to us like we were his friends. What a great way to start the evening. As we sat down, I was blown away. Let me just start off, I have been around pierogies my whole life. My friends from Russia, Ukraine and Poland used to have them all the time. But wow — did they ever have a pierogi menu. And they had borsht as well! Many typical foods I found when I visited Poland were right here in this restaurant. All my friends with me ordered some pierogis… When our food came, we each tried a little bit of everyone’s food and I gotta say, the piergis were amazing. Very crispy on the outside and the inside wasn’t too mushy or lumpy. It was a good inbetween. But I had to be different. I ordered their special of the day and got myself their grain fed burger. It was HUGE and it was DELICIOUS. The patty was moist, done medium rare as I liked it, with a sweet bun and lots of veggies in it. The fries were so abundant I had to ask my friends if they would share with me! And the salad was nice and light with a touch of vinegarette. The server came by a few times and was very sweet and kind. I spoke to him in my very limited Polish and he laughed but was kind enough to humour me and listen to my poor depiction of my language. Overall, the service and the atmosphere was great. The server was very chill and it is a great location to just sit around and people watch. For the location, the prices are reasonable and not insane. Will be going again sometime.

If you read the full story about our Founder’s journey to NYC on our website, you will remember about the huge relevancy of this restaurant! Making a long story short and putting into perspective for those who haven’t yet read her story… this restaurant was the place she was having lunch on April 20th, 2014 and actually had the 1st strong insight saying that she’d be moving to NYC in 1 year. Exactly 365 days later, on April 20th, 2015 she arrived in NYC! A Polish restaurant called Dziupla opened in Williamsburg around April of 2014, just a few days before our Founder discovered it and decided to sit down for a lunch that would change the course of her life… A few of the dishes you should try are: the goulash, stuffed cabbage, hunter stew, pierogi(a typical Polish dish) and our favorite was the crêpes with duck and apple. Just amazing! They have a great outdoor seating area and now that the Summer is officially here, it’s definitely a cool place to go! The interesting part this is that the hanger steak is grass fed, the boar is wild and the chicken is «Amish farm raised.» They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Amazing food. Good service. Located in the heart of Williamsburg Brooklyn and this was truly one of the best Polish restaurants I have ever been to. The service was amazing the food was delicious however the only negative was they did not have air conditioning. You can’t eat a hearty have a Polish meal in 85° weather.

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try Polish food recently and I was glad that we found Dziupla right on Bedford Ave! This restaurant has both outdoor and indoor seating, but we decided to sit inside since outside seating seemed a little bit crammed with all the passers-by on the busy street. We decided to order chanterelle mushroom pierogi and cottage cheese pancakes with strawberry jam. I am Russian and Polish food has some similarities with Russian cuisine, so I was able to make specific observations. And let me tell you, our meals had a nice homemade touch! Everything tasted organic and fresh, which reminded me of the homemade food my mom and grandma prepare. I liked how the pierogi had potato as an extra filling. We also tried a cocktail called«Strawberry Fields» which contained strawberries and rum. It didn’t have a strong taste and tasted quite sweet. Our waiter was very genuine and accommodating. We even sang along 90s alternative songs that played in the restaurant with him! Great experience!

Food was ok, just ok and really nothing very exciting or great. Service was ok too… Until the check arrived. They added a 20% tip compulsory, in a very confusing way that makes you not realizing that tip is already added. Once you get the credit card receipt to sign, the total amount already includes tip, and they suggest you to add another round of tip. Which easily leads you to add 35/40% at the end. I asked the waitress if she could charge me only the amount without the tips so that I could choose what I want to give, but she faint not to understand the question and replied by a rude«the only thing you need to do it to sign this receipt». It was nowhere mentioned that tip was meant to be compulsory and we were only two… Maybe she thought I was a tourist, or maybe she just does that to everyone. However, this is the first time ever I see that in NY for years. I’ll make sure to never go back again.

Super poor services, waited 45 minutes for lunch and was told that our food was not ready. meanwhile the people at the bar who arrived much later than us got served. Asked for milk twice for my coffee, but got ignored again, obviously!!!

Expensive($ 17 for a burger) and not very good because of the bun being cold. Bad service from the 3 different waitresses

DUCKPIEROGIES. Oh my. Fantastic. Boyfriend had the Chef’s pierogies, which were also delicious. Cozy and romantic. One other couple there on a late Monday night. Which reminds me: THANKYOU for being open on Mondays! Great service.

I came to this cute little place with my Polish other half. I think we were in Williamsburg to see a show, and this was a perfect place to get dinner before. It was very small and the doors were all open to the outside which was nice, and there was only one eccentric dude running the whole floor. We got the salmon tartare to start, and then the Polish plate. The tartare I remember being alright, nothing bad nothing spectacular. The Polish plate though was a huge feast of Polish standards: pierogies, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, potato pancakes and hunter stew. I had never tried hunter stew before, so it was cool to get to taste one of my boyfriend’s native dishes(even though I didn’t love it because I hate sauerkraut). The pierogies were obviously delicious, the kielbasa was smoky and great, and the potato pancakes were authentic and crispy. SO much food, it’s a great value. My boyfriend also loved his beers. Next time I would really like to try the other varieties of pierogies though!

Great pierogi! Grew up on Polish food and these are some of the best I’ve had. Duck pierogi were awesome! Good service good music. Ended up staying for the happy hour from the Happy any Hour app… awesome time. Staff is super friendly and encourages a good time. Absolutely love this place. $ 3 Polish pints!

My new favorito place in Williamsburg. Great food and super cheap lunch special. I highly recommend the Ukrainian borsh(soup) and the Cheese Pierogies as a dessert.

Ambiance: Went out to dinner here with a friend on a Saturday night. It was busy, considering its size; which is very tight. There isn’t much space between patrons. Expect your bum to touch a chair as you zig zag out of your table. I thought the table placements were weird for the ones that are right there in front of the door. Not much of an entrance, if you ask me. The ambiance was okay and very dim at night. They played a combination of 80s and 90s music. The servers were alright, could’ve been a little more attentive. I think they were hanging out more with their friends in the bar than asking us if we needed anything else every now and then. Food: My boyfriend is Polish, I’ve been to Poland(Warsaw, Krakow, etc); so I might be a little biased when it comes to authenticity… That being said, the food was okay. I was kind of disappointed when the menu didn’t name the food in Polish. In Chicago, my boyfriend and I would go to a Polish deli/market and everything is in Polish and even the deli clerks spoke in Polish, so I only knew foods by their Polish names. When I wanted a gołąbki, I had to settle for the anticlimactic«pork stuffed cabbage» :( First, we ordered a red borscht, which came with mushroom pierogis. It was pretty good, especially on that cold night. The pierogies were on the smaller size; which was okay because the stuffed cabbage entrée was huge. I could barely finish it. The stuffed cabbage entrée came with red cabbage salatka(salad) and mashed potatoes. Those were also okay; nothing too amazing, I would still go back because I love Polska cuisine. Between the large portions of food and large Zywiec beer on the side, I could not even get myself to order a dessert. I was really looking forward to eating the three cheese crêpe for dessert; which, strangely was in the vegetarian section of the menu. I’ve had the three cheese crepes before at another place and they are to die for. I wouldn’t mind coming back just to try it. Definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t.

Great place in Williamsburg for authentic Polish food. The chef’s special pierogis are to die for — I have a food allergy to mushrooms(these usually come with a mushroom sauce on top) and they offered to put the sauce on the side rather than on top and provided sour cream as a sub-sauce. The chef’s pierogis are an awesome blend of cheese and spinach inside a perfectly cooked pierogi — so delicious and filling. The potato pancakes are also awesome but very filling as well! They come with a side of sour cream and have a perfect crisp on the outside and are soft on the inside. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive and answered all of our questions about the menu and provided great suggestions. I wish their menu offered more meat choices that weren’t full-on entrée specials but more expansive than the very few offered as appetizers.

Came here for brunch on a sunday, not too busy despite the street being packed on a nice day. The staff were friendly and accomodated our three person group. I had the french toast which was very different than any french toast I’ve seen, perhaps polish. It looked like a big cannoli. It was plenty sweet with powdered sugar mixed berries and then a little cuplet of syrup. It was pretty good, nice and fluffy but would’ve been nice if it came with something, perhaps some eggs. I got a mimosa as well which wasn’t bad but a bit small. I had some of the smoked salmon benedict which wasn’t bad and had a nice presentation. Aside from it being a bit cramped and the bathroom being right off from the eating area, I enjoyed. If I’m in the area again I’d give it another try.

I thought the food was okay. The happy hour prices were great, anyway – half price pierogis, who can turn that down? But alas, sometimes you take a gamble, and you lose. The red borscht with mushroom dumplings looked very nice, but tasted a little too sweet for me(was there added sugar or were the beets sugar beets?) The dumplings were quite good, however. I ordered the Chef’s pierogi plate(stuffed with goat cheese and spinach, topped with chanterelle mushroom gravy). The gravy was also great, but I wish there’d been a better ratio of it to the very heavy/cheesy pierogis. The filling was way too much goat cheese and not enough spinach, and it was tough to finish more than half of them. But hey, it was only $ 4.50 for a whole plate, so no big deal, right? Well, maybe it was an off-day or something, but not long after finishing my meal, I started getting those ominous stomach cramps that tell you you’re gonna need to make a run for bathroom real quick… you know where this is going, so I’ll spare you the details. To conclude, I gave Dziupla a shot, but I normally don’t give places that make me sick a second shot, sorry to say. Wish I’d seen the«B» grade in the window before I entered, oops.

Whoah ! Trigger warning — rotten raw meat– I was fond of this place and had drafted a rave review after many delicious deliveries. Then things went very bad. They sent a truly disgusting pair of meals last night. This was not a little slip up but unforgivably insulting. The burger for my son was raw. Not pink raw but old and funky and raw. I cooked it in the pan hoping to salvage it and it was still too disgusting to eat. I promised him never to order from here again. I will never be able to think of this place again without the revolting image of rotten raw burger they sent us. His fries were cold on arrival and tasted stale. The potatoes and veal shank I got were ruined with over seasoning. We threw it all away and called Dumont Burger. If you want to risk eating here anyway stick with the stuffed cabbage. If you’re after pierogi be advised these are big rubbery generic pierogi like the kind you buy at the deli for 3 bucks sealed in plastic. For much better more delicate fresh pierogi I recommend 12 Chairs(they also have better Borscht.)

A horrible medical emergency overshadowed the dining experience here, but most of the people around us were kind enough(in a town notorious for surliness) that it helped provide distraction from the fact that the soup was astonishingly mediocre. Fortunately, the mushroom pierogis compensated in flavor, and the scruffy vibe, though predictable, was affable enough. I’d go back, though I’m a bit chary to try the soups. I mean – EMS arrived to help out one of the guests at my table, but I still could notice how blah it all was! But goshdarnit, the staff was friendly and helpful enough through the ordeal that I almost feel like I could return to Dziupla and give each one of them a noogie. I’ll spare them that and try something else on the menu instead.

Dropped by for dinner before a show at Rough Trade, should’ve gone to Café Mogador instead. My husband seemed to enjoy his Veal Cutlet enough, but I wasn’t as thrilled with my Polish Plate. The perogies looked great in the photos, but on the Polish Plate they were piled on top of a few other items, and there was a lot of liquid at the bottom of the dish due to the steamed cabbage, I’m guessing. Soggy fried perogies are never as good as crispy ones. The potato latkes suffered from the same affliction — any crispiness or fried goodness was doused by the pool of juices that surrounded them. Besides those two items were the cabbage, hunk of kielbasa, and some sort of meatloaf type thing. In terms of flavor, everything was A-OK(hence the 3 stars). I feel like the kielbasa was no different than the Hillshire Farm brand one I usually get at the market. I don’t know enough about Polish food to speak to the authenticity here, but I probably won’t return. Service was very friendly, though.
