Has a lot of potential but we went on a Sunday so only 3 tiny galleries were open. Definitely some good art but not really worth the trip. They just need to clarify that even if the building is open, the individual galleries may not be. Still a cool place though.

Ever wonder where to go see the latest artwork and displays by local artists of Dumbo? Head over to Dumbo Arts Center! This loft-like space has TONS of rooms with different artists showcasing their artwork, paintings, display, photography, etc. I like how it’s NOT a pretentious place where you’ll be ‘watched on’ by the artists like if you’re a criminal or something but a comfortable space where you can hold a cup of Joe on one hand and go through and admire all the different artwork on display. Best of all, this is all FREE! Will definitely return!!!

It’s official now, I am in love with this arts centre. There is so much to see and explore out here. When we went here there was an indoor as well outdoor art display. Really liked the idea of displaying the most unique art dispalys, I simply love that. This arts center is a nonprofit contemporary arts space which was created after the inaugural Dumbo Art Under the Bridge festival as one of the first cultural institutions in the area. Most of the galleries are free to explore. Definitely a great spot for all the people who appreciate art!

I love popping into the DAC when I’m in the area and it’s open. The staff are always friendly, the exhibitions always interesting and it just reminds you why Brooklyn is awesome!

Wow, free galleries in Dumbo. Love it! Went there for the Dia exhibit, a photo slide show of Puerto Ricans in the 70s and 80s in NYC and was pleasantly suprised that all other galleries were open for viewing and free! Entered the Dutch exhibit were they were having their opening night and the very friendly artist were present to discuss their works. Oh yeah and free wine!

We had our wedding here. It was not only affordable, but the staffers were super helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend them for private events. Just take note that, if you plan to dance, the floor is a bit splintery and there are cracks that your heels can potentially get stuck in!

I really like this art space. The wooden floors make it feel very welcoming for some reason. Stopped in here after a Lit Festival at Powerhouse Arena to see the«Experience of Green» exhibit. But where was the green? It was crimson red. Tree trunks of all sorts made from craft paper, and many trunks had openings and you could go inside, and it felt sooo secure and like a warm womb ;-) Admission is by donation, $ 2 suggested. BTW…no photography!

Wonderful art space that is responsible for giving us that wonderful and unique festival that is DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival. This by itself grants DAC5 stars. I love this spacious, loft-like space, with its wooden floors and wooden pillars. Most of the installations and exhibitions they host tend to be wonderful, challenging, and even playful. The last one I saw was the«Experience of Green» by Wade Kavanaugh and Stephen B. Nguyen. It is a beautifully crafted paper installation representing enormous old tree trunks, in a brilliant red.

I love the DUMBO Arts Center. I’ve been there many times, and yet they keep allowing me in the door. The space is large and surprisingly versatile; gallery openings, exhibits, private events… everything they throw tends to be stellar. The fact that they organize DUMBO Art Under the Bridge is just the icing on a beautiful, interesting cake. My most recent visit was during the Collect DUMBO Halloween Art Crawl, and their installation was easily my favorite stop on the tour. It is called the Experience of Green, and it’s fantastic. The artists have transformed the space into a forest of crimson, built with layers and twists of paper. It’s difficult to describe, but wonderful to see. It’s like a redwood forest, complete with trees you can actually walk into and hide from trick-or-treating children who point and laugh at your asinine costume, which regrettably was just your every-day clothing. FYI: the Experience of Green runs through November 29th: But don’t worry if you can’t make it, I’m sure the DAC will have something equally interesting to follow.

Volunteered at the 12th Annual DUMBO Arts Festival yesterday 10am-2pm. Amanda, Heather, and the crew were nice enough to welcome us and have us distribute program books to the galleries, commercial spaces in the rain. I kid. It was a blast. My friend had the idea of distributing them at the F(Jay St) and A, C(High St) Subway Stations. What a novel idea! Needless to say that was a huge hit. We stuck around a bit after to enjoy the rest of the Festival and have lunch in the area. We got free Ciao Bella, free hand cut fries, free DAC Tee, and free Ito En(a sponsor). There was also a Farmer’s Market going on(much cheaper than USQ) where we tried Almond Butter($ 10) which is to die for.
