Mr. Duane Reade. I’m giving you 5 Staaas because you had my Wilson Football at 6AM on a Sunday before driving into NY Giants Stadium for some great tail gating, BBQing, Cognac drinking, Football throwing loving. BRAVO!!!

Love this Duane Reade. My family and I have been filling prescriptions here since i was a kid. The pharmacists are so personable and kind. Always asking how your feeling or how your day is going! The store was totally renovated approximately 2 years ago. It’s totally gorgeous! Private lot is also one of the top reasons I go here, so carefree and convenient!

So on the day that my friends took me out to Brennan & Carr, we stopped here afterward. We stopped to look for some sugar free cookies for another resident at Crown Nursing, and to get some stuff for the rest of us. I bought some drinks to take back to my room, and my friends bought some snacks and the cookies for my fellow resident. The prices were standard. The line was very short thankfully. I am not sure if that is due to the area or the fact that the line moves up quickly is due to good customer service. I will opt for the latter since there were other people in the store besides us. It is also a rather big store for the area in my opinion. Also an employee was kind enough to open the doors for me upon entrance after seeing the wheelchair.

I do not use corporate chain drugstores for my Rx’s. Whenever I’ve tried I’ve been disappointed. I get all my Rx’s at This Way Pharmacy on Quentin( ). What do I buy at Duane Reade? Shampoo. Razors. Toothbrushes. For that kind of thing this store is adequate. I don’t expect much.

When I walked into this place after they newly renovated it, I felt like Dorothy… are we still in Brooklyn Toto?! It’s amazing what a little floor waxing and brighter lighting can do! This place might be revamped but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves — service is still slow and painful and good luck trying to encourage they open another register! Oh! The passport photo people have no clue what they’re doing… yay to change! Sort of…

I’m a little less happy with the DR Pharmacy lately. Apparently they’re only carrying name-brand medications now, so I have to go elsewhere for the cheaper generics that I can actually afford on my budget and plan. I am NOT paying $ 70 for a $ 30-and-under prescription, thank you very much.

Ariela is right, store itself is clean and all that, but unfortunately the staff is either non-existent or just plain lazy. There are hardly any employees and if you do find one and need help, likely they’re just going to either tell you whatever you’re asking them to do is not their«department» or to wait because someone else is going to show up. Rain checks and sale items are an issue. A lot of the times I’ve been there, most of the stuff on sale in their circulars are either not on the shelves or on the floor in boxes, most of the time unopened and unpacked. Ask someone to help you open the box and a lot of the time the answer is going to be «come back etc» like Wednesday or «end of the week» when the items will be on the shelves. Keep in mind the sales start Saturdays and for them to say that the items will not be on the shelf until a later date is pretty stupid on their part if they want to make sales and earn some $$$. Rain checks, depending on the person you’re talking to, you’re likely not going to get it. Again they’ll tell you«come back» whatever because supposedly they don’t want to give out«frivolous» rain checks. Maybe people wouldn’t be asking for rain checks if they actually unpacked everything and put things on the shelves so they could buy it right away. Only good things are cleanliness, location(near bus and subway) and private parking lot.
