I love fried chicken. I. LOVE. FRIED. CHICKEN. With that being said, honestly, I love crown fried. Something about that slight orange tint on the fried chicken, the grease pockets you can find in the skin, the crispy fries fried in the same chicken grease, the pizza(YESTHEPIZZA!!!), everything about this place is so good. I mean, granted, I have lots of nostalgia regarding crown fried and the chicken wings/thighs(what I usually get) can get stale and old. In order to fight against it, make sure to call in advance and order a 10 piece or something and ask for it fresh. It makes a world of a difference between having a fresh 10 pieces vs. a flimsy leftover couple wings and thighs.

It took me a while to visit, but damned if I don’t love this place! You can get an absolute feast for very little money. The chicken is good, but when I stop by, I tend to go with the double cheeseburger. Their chicken sandwiches are good, so are their fries and onion rings. They also have ketchup, hot sauce and barbeque sauce, so be sure to ask for some when you order. The place certainly looks sketchy, but aside from some side-eye and glances, I haven’t had a bad experience there, plus, the city gave them an A rating on their conditions when a lot of other fancy places flat out failed.

The food here is really average! This is like the spot you come to when everything else is closed and your pretty damn ripped, so reason and logic is long gone out of your mind… Thus requiring you to purchase a six wing snack box that will give you eternal hiccups for the rest of the night or morning… The apple pies rock out though! My peoples… Yes I said«my peoples» live in the Whitman buildings right across the street and this is one of the many late night hangouts :) not really a eatery… Don’t stare at them for too long lol

Customer: «Yo Carrot! Let me get a cup of ice!» Red Top: «We don’t have ice today.»

Love this place, though there always seems to be somebody screaming everytime I’m there. Seriously, it’s chicken– relax. Love the burgers as well as the chicken.

I lived a block from this place for a few months in 2004 and this would be my late night spot for french fries. I once threw a fried chicken and Korean food party, and I got all the chicken from here. I knew it was good cos’ I told everyone it was from Popeye’s and they believed it. Also, one of the guys there looks exactly like Harpo Marx.

Red Top speaks four languages. Order a number 11 in German, he’ll get it. But make sure your girl isn’t French, or he’ll hit on her. Regardless, the food speaks the universal tongue of pants-shitting.

The decision to pick up food from Crown Fried Chicken invariably occurs when my mind is not entirely sound. The experience of consuming food from Crown Friend Chicken is invariably intense(hot sauce galore) and entirely satisfying. The emotional and physical state the morning after Crown Fried Chicken is invariably and entirely unsettling. Or is that the hangover? Well, probably hangover w/grease. Oh, the Ups and Downs of Life. But really, CFC is one the Ups. And Richie M. is right, the late night guy is a big-time character. The locals call him«Red Top.»
