The curry chicken is first-rate also. Anyone know the secret ingredient? Nutmeg?

I used to live by the one on Nostrand in Crown Hts and it was my go to comfort take out spot. Now I live in Prospect Lefferts and they just opened a 2nd store just around the corner to me and I’m SO excited. It’s the same great food. Same prices and huge portions. The one in Prospect Lefferts is 576 Rogers Ave.

Stopped by here in the spring. I ordered a rasta pasta and it was the first time I had rasta pasta made with a spice which was cinnamon or nutmeg. It would have been a better dish without it.

Very tasty chicken and cabbage. The jerk sauce is not to be missed. Also, they are open very late every day!

Food is great never disappointed no matter what I order. Staff friendly. White rice was mushy once but overall my go to place for a yummy home style cooked meal. Plenty of options. Best jamaican food in my area.

I’m a Bedstuy and Crown heights native, been here in the community all my life. The Caribbean food here is on point! This place is my favorite Caribbean place to eat in Crown heights. Great place to grab a meal when everything is closed after midnight. Back in my carnivore days, I would order the large with Mac & cheese, barbecue chicken, plantains, salad and a strawberry squeezer. I will share it with my girlfriend at the time. The food is huge I would take 2 big dinner plates in my house, and make me and my girlfriend, late night dinners. Mac & Cheese is so delicious they might be out if it’s after midnight, people get to it early!

For a 2am stop, the food was still tasty. Chicken wasn’t dry at all. The rice was a little mushy but still very good. They ran out of mac & cheese by the time i got to the front. YES! There was a line at 2am on a Thursday to Friday morning. That’s how you know that spot is official. Plantans was great and i had a friends Jerk chicken, I’m mad at myself for ordering a second plate of that to go. The Roti, patties and fish… too many options. If i ever go back to this area of Brooklyn again, I’m bringing Tupper wear.

This place is pretty good. The line can be very long at time during dinner rush and in the evening. They are open late and have basic Caribbean food. At times the curry is too hot, which says alot coming from me since I love spicy food. They jerk chicken is decent and the fish is good too!

The last couple of times the chicken was dry and the service was horrible! I use to eat there at least two times a week. I will NEVER eat there again.

Last time I was in BK I ended up staying in bed stuy, I realized that there aren’t really too many fast food(or just food) options around the area. A friend of mine suggested heading down toward crown heights for some ox tail. Right on! I love ox tail. Off I go… Unassuming place. Could not care less. Kind of better that way. Décor? Well, not really feeling the place but who cares when you’re doing take out? So I get my ox tail over rice and beans and some pickled(?) cabbages and head out. The weight of the contents in the bag weighs heavy on me and my anticipation and thrill for the food takes over… the walk is taking forever! Maybe I should’ve just eaten in. Finally get back and start digging in. I don’t think I even talked to anyone while I devoured the massive portion of food I had just procured. Tummy full and mission accomplished with a little bit of walking and $ 9 to boot! Excellent food, especially in a neighbourhood that is really lacking food options

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. Sometimes, the girls have an attitude and it is clearly shown in their faces. That is not how you do business!!! We are your customers!!! Other than that, their food is the best in the area in terms of Jamaican food. Their oxtails and stew chicken is so good, it makes you wanna smack yo Momma, Grandma and all of your ancestors. lol It is that friggin’ good. They also are very very generous with the portions. One time, I made a mistake getting the large. That plate could have fed 3 people. I am not complaining at all because I greatly appreciate it and I was able to eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner and be full both times. It was worth every penny and nickle. Very good food. However, an occasional smile with less attitude would be nice. :)

I love Caribbean food, period. I’m glad they moved into a larger spot to better accommodate customers. The food is definitely good. I love the fact that it’s so close to home and they’re open late. I’ve ordered the jerk chicken, curry chicken, chicken patties, and krust. I love their flexibility. If I don’t want rice with my meal, they’re willing to deduct from the overall price of the meal. You can’t find that kind of treatment everywhere. I’m a satisfied customer. The only downside that I’ve noticed is their speed. There is usually only two people taking and filling the orders. The line tends to get long and I have walked out in the past. No one else really complains though because the food is just that delicious. Your best bet is to avoid the hours when there is a lot more traffic than usual.

I lived up the block from this place and I was by far the best Caribbean food I tried. Me and my roommates hit this place up all the time because it’s open until the small hours of the night. The patties are awesome. The best one is the veggie patty which means a lot coming from someone who scoffs at vegetarianism. The second best patty is the chicken, followed by the beef. If you really want your mind blown, you have to get the Mac and cheese and tell them to put oxtail gravy in it, it’s the perfect thing to line your stomach with before you go out drinking. Even though this place is on what I like to call«island time»(the service takes forever), Chris makes up for it with its amazing Caribbean food.

Yeah wow, this took a long time to open. But it delivers the same quality jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail and mac and cheese as the tiny place down the block it expanded from. The service leaves a little to be desired though. The counter woman looked clearly annoyed while I was there, though understandably so, since it was well after the lunch rush and there was still a sizable line. She also mumbled something, which I think was«do you want red rice,» which I found to be confusing(as opposed to what? no rice? or white rice?). But I’m glad I said yes, because the red rice was tasty and topped with a sweet black bean sauce and some mixed vegetables. The jerk chicken I ordered was not very spicy. I’m glad it wasn’t too spicy, but methinks jerk chicken is usually spicier than this. Also, I’m generally annoyed by the lack of explanation on menu boards in this neighborhood. What do the $ 6, 9 and 12 portions come with and how big are they? I wouldn’t mind asking if the employees were a tad more friendly. The breakfast items look intriguing: liver, kidney and many flavors of porridge.

I went through three roommates before Chris’ finally transitioned from the mysterious corner restaurant that never opened, to the packed and popular neighborhood spot it is today. Oxtail and curry goat— common bites to grab in this neighborhood, but I assure you Chris’ is already doing it better than most. Doing it best, actually, if we are considering the proximity to my front door(and the free delivery if I’m too lazy to walk the ten feet to their doorstep). $ 6 will get you a stuffing portion of rice, veggies, fried plantain, and the most tender curry goat you’ve ever had. The medium dishes run about $ 9, and the large are $ 11−13… but really the small is enough to feed a starving tummy. They also have a lot of side dishes– like candied sweet potatoes and mac n cheese, that are all $ 2 – 4. Quick, delicious, and a lot of bang for your buck… fully deserving of a welcoming from the neighborhood!
