Chinar Restaurant

One of my favorite Russian restaurants to go to in Brooklyn. I live down the block so I don’t have to travel far. The food is great and fresh and they change it up a lot. The staff is super friendly and service is good. The dance floor is big which is a huge plus for me. The entertainment is also good, they have a good mixture of Russian and American music. I have not one bad thing to say about this restaurant. If you are looking for a nice place with good food to come to for a special occasion, I would definitely recommend Chinar, just book in advance!

I’ve been here for two birthday parties. Food is top notch. My favorite appetizers were the smoked salmon and white fish which were fresh and full of flavor. Several meat entrees that included chicken, steak and lamb were done perfectly as the meats were tender and well seasoned. The lamb over Israeli couscous was my favorite. Entertainment was a DJ which was shared with the other parties also going on at the same time. Lighting effects were impressive as 3 dimensional designs were projected onto a thin layer of smoke. Décor was elegantly tacky and dated, but it did not take away from the experience. Service was excellent. Parking is hard to find in the area, so the restaurant offers valet service.

Last night had our 7^th Annual Holiday Party. In a past years had it in different places including Chinar and other restaurants. So last night was at Chinar yet again and since I was the organizer of the event I wanted to share my most outstanding experience. I had Alex and Igor as my contacts at the restaurant who worked very closely with me and tried to accommodate all our specifications and requests. Every bullet-​point was addressed and all our needs were met at the day of the event. When I entered the restaurant I was yet amazed from the beauty and elegance of the place. The serving of the tables was very different with little detailed of individually served appetizers. My American guests were absolutely amazed By the outstanding food and service. The waiters, bartenders, and support staff were showing there upmost professionalism and respect to the little requests of the customers. My over all experience was fantastic! In addition to everything the band rocked. Kept my crowd on their toes until 2:00am. As a hostess I felt so proud and accomplished that the event ended up such a success. We loved absolutely everything!

Excellent food, very friendly staff. Will definitely come back for the great dining experience!

Awesome place for birthdays or big celebratory dinners. We went to a wedding there and had an amazing time. There was soooo much food and the presentation was incredible!

I recently celebrated by sister’s Sweet 16 at Chinar and I must say… Highly Impressed!!! I have been coming to this place since it first opened on Coney Island Avenue (Brooklyn) and was surprised to find that management has made great efforts to really make this place an experience for restaurant goers. From a culinary standpoint, the chefs have diversified their flavor palette and created dishes that were well seasoned and creative… a far cry from traditional Russian banquet-​styled dinners catered at many other places. The food was very yummy and the presentation also took on a more modern twist than so in the past. It was a breath of fresh air to sit at a table with loved ones and enjoy every dish brought forward… and as a foodie, thumbs up to the kitchen. In addition, the level of hospitality and service provided was also great considering the place was completely booked for that night and we really didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes for any request. Staff were well mannered and very accommodating. With regards to the live entertainment, our guests were dancing the entire night. So overall, my family and our friends really enjoyed the time we shared there and will definitely be booking another event soon.

Phenomenal time! We were in Chinar in April for a combined birthday bash for me and my mom. All 50 of us had a great time dancing and drinking the night away. Food was delicious as always. Service was great, waiters’ attention in abundance. Music was awesome and the night ended too soon :).

Service Service Service. That’s what it’s all about. Most Russian and Turkish spots have very attentive servers and excellent managers who will even help to take orders and clean up a table. This place isnt much different.
The large variety of foods is also a great help. It doesnt taste gross like a lot of wedding party food does, neither. We had a private event for about 35 people and it was everything we could have wanted (minus live music, which my boss cheaped out on LOL).
Definitely want to attend more events here.

Chinar is the stereotypical lavish Russian banquet hall and it is fantastic. I came for my cousin’s cousin’s birthday party (yes, the cousin of my cousin) and we had a blast. The food was quite delicious. We had duck, lamb, tuna tataki, and many other dishes that due to copious amounts of wine I can’t really recall. The wine was certainly plentiful as well as the food. The band and DJ were a blast. They played many Top 40 songs as well as Russian hits and Latin hits. The dance floor was wild and I had an amazing time. I wish I lived in New York because I know I would beg for my friends to have a party here.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding at Chinar last weekend and it was AMAZING. It was the second time we went (the first was earlier in the year with some friends). The food is exceptionally good and plentiful! Our guests raved about the quality and quantity of the varied dishes. The service was excellent as well. Everything we needed was provided for. You have to bring your own liquor– which is a great way to save money.
Because other parties were also present, we arranged with the DJ Contstantine prior to arriving to do a few wedding traditions including the first dance, cake cutting and bouquet toss— and he delivered! He was really friendly and made the night very special for us amongst several other events. The music included a mix of American, Russian and Latin songs. The dance floor was packed all night. A great time was had by all.
I cannot say enough about the quality of the food and service. This place is awesome!

Chinar is one of the few restaurants in the area (or perhaps even the only one) that has great tasting food balanced with a huge dance floor and good music.
The music they play varies from top 40 to russian which means they know how to appeal to all patrons since you have people in their 20s but also people in their 50s and 60s. They also have live music and take requests so it’s always a good time and the dance floor is usually packed out.
Now let’s discuss food. They had sushi boats at the party I attended and they were very tasty. It appeared to be fresh salmon with avocado wrapped in rice and seaweed drizzled with a dressing of some sort. There is also pasta with shrimp (the shrimp is one of my favorites). They also gave white fish, Caesar salad, Lox, eggplant, and so much other food. Mussels and potatoes with mushrooms were also on the table. All the food was tasty and there was a ton of it.
If you’re russian, and want good food and a dance floor to show your moves this is the spot. No other spot can balance these things out the way Chinar does (at least in a 5 mile radius). And also, you don’t have to be russian! I know it’s packed out by Russians but I think even hipsters can enjoy a spot like this. It’s really for anyone and everyone so don’t be shy. Russians can def be aggressive but once you understand your place we are harmless! :)

Chinar is truly as good as it gets for an event venue.
We had a party there in November and all of our guests were blown away by the food, presentation and the service.
Planning the event was a breeze: we dealt with Igor, one of the partners. He is a true professional who was able to give us great advice. he is one of the very few business owners that is honest and knowledgeable.
the décor is great, so is the music and the food is out of this world. There was not one person at the party (out of 200) that didn’t compliment Chinar.
The owners were there throughout the night, made sure everyone is taken care of and that we have one less thing to worry about.
From now on this is the ONLY place we will book for a party or even a small get together. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!!

Being a non-​Russian with plenty of Russian friends I have been to this place for various birthdays. Tacky? Yes! But that’s part of the appeal. Food is delicious and music is fun. It’s really something unique to experience as an American who speaks no Russian. It’s a really good time for all!

Love this place. Did my birthday here many many times and I will highly recommend this place to eveeyone. Music and food is delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. I have been here many times abs will return again in the near futre5.

We decided to do our wedding in Chinar on July 27^th 2014 and it was one of the best decisions we have made during the planning process. We worked with Igor (one of the partners) who was an absolute pleasure to work with. He delivered everything he promised and far exceeded our expectations.
The food was very delicious and elegantly presented. Everything that came out was as tasty as it looked. Our guests are still talking about how delicious every bit of food was. The organization of the cocktail hour, overall reception tables and sweets table was beautiful!
The service was incredible. The waiters were so attentive making sure that people were happy and taken care of.
The music was also really great. We had Boris as the MC. He was funny and very entertaining. Definitely had the party going and the dance floor was always full.
Overall, Chinar Restaurant has done an AMAZING job and we couldn’t be happier to have celebrated one of our special moments there. Thank you Igor and the Chinar team for making our wedding even that much better!

My wifeand I took my dad and his girlfriend there for dinner and dancing last week. Here is what I thought:
Ambiance was amazing with clean look and golden ceilings.
Music was very tasteful and the crowd, both young and old, loved it.
Food was exquisite and surprisingly not very expensive. Instead of a banquet menu we ordered 5 good salads, a hot appetizer and one large family style main course. All in all it cost us under 190 dollars with 20% tip.
What impressed me most was the staff and service. I had never been pampered this well at a restaurant.
I would always recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a great dinner and dance.

We went to Chinar for my friends 30 Bday.
The place is very nice and the food was delicious. But you must know that 90% of the people there were Russian, and the rest were their guest. I can tell you one thing, the Russians know how to have fun, drink good and eat good. for me, that was the first experience with a Russian stile bday, and it was great!
I don’t think it is a place that you just go there, it is more like a place that you go if you were invited to a celebration.

I came here for a few birthdays and the place was excellent. The staff was attentive. The décor was beautiful. The music/​entertainment was fun. Overall, great experience!

Definitely my go-​to Russian restaurant!
The food is amazing, the music is good (definitely better than other Russian restaurants from my personal experiences). The pictures that are taken on the staircase always look nice and make it seem like you’re at a grand hall or something more luxurious. I definitely look forward to going there every time for a birthday :)
