I like Casablanca. I’ve had a lot of fun here. I tend to come here after already having had a few drinks, so I can’t speak their mixed drinks, only some tequila shots and light beers. The music is always on point. The space is tight, but my friends and I also manage to carve it some dancing space. The crowd is diverse in many ways. The last time I went, there were a lot of dudes. That can be a good look, depending on what you’re open to. The guys are nice though. Nothing crazy, and definitely some cuties that range from early 20s to probably 40s. It can be hard to tell. The only thing I don’t like is that my friend told me they were charging a cover the other night. Get all the way back! I know this is Bedstuy, and Bedstuy is super hot, but a cover is a bit much. The bouncer leaves a lost to be desired. But maybe he’s just not happy with life. Either way, this is Brooklyn. Keep it chill.

I can’t give them a 5 because they don’t take cards(which I always find to be super tacky), but this place is really cool! Staff was very nice, bartender was friendly(and knew how to make a pretty killer Negroni – and I can say from experience many bartenders are clueless), and I dig the décor. We were there around 9:30 on a Friday but there was still room to find a table to sit and talk. I honestly wasn’t paying attention to the music but I don’t remember it being offensive, so it must have been pretty good as well! I’ll be back.

Great place to go in the neighborhood with a date or a group. They took an old man’s bar and turned it into a hip haven for the young and trendy. There seems to also be a place for older folks like me to grab a drink at happy hour with friends. Great all around.

Although the place is on the small side, we had a great time on a Saturday night. The music was on point. A mixture of new and old school, hip-hop and r&b. There was a nice crowd but it does get packed, quickly. I take a star away for a couple fools who started a fight right beside me, but security was on deck and snatch them out of the spot before anyone else was even aware of what happened. Also, the bathroom was hella dark. I will definitely be back.

Very nice crowd… lots of lookers. Didn’t order my drinks, so can’t pay attention to service. **I was drunk but I remember the bouncer being a bit rude. I am a friendly person so if a lady says something to you at least smile. SHEESH!

If it was possible to give this place zero stars I would. This review is solely based on the horrible experience I had with the bartender working tonight. A little before midnight I walked in and was pleased with the music, atmosphere, etc; even ran into a friend of mine. At the bar, I asked the bartender(a woman in a sea green top) if they had any fresh juices. My exact words were«Do you have ginger juice, or any fresh juices?». I asked because I wanted to have that as a mixer instead of soda or standard sugary juices. She looked at me with a weird look and said«We have ginger syrup…» and walked away as I was clearly about to order a drink. One of the friends I was with just received her drink, so I waited for her to finish since I decided at that point I was ready to leave. I can understand it was sort of busy, but to abruptly walk away when I’m trying to place an order is beyond rude. She came back as I was explaining to my friend why I was ready to leave and she jumped into the conversation and started yelling that it was busy. She literally put her had up towards my face and said«Girl!». I’m actually an adult. We aren’t friends, and I’m a paying customer so why she chose that word is disrespectful and I’ve never had an experience like that. It took everything in me to ignore her yet she kept arguing with me and the friend I was with. Horrible experience and I’ll be sure to let everyone I know who does suggest this location for drinks why I won’t be back. As I can see from reviews this place is actually nice and unfortunately you had a rude and unprofessional person behind the bar to make sure I didn’t have a great time.

I am soooo glad that this bar exists in the neighborhood. I’ve been a resident of Bed-Stuy/Crown Heights for 10 years, and indeed this is a welcome addition to the ‘hood. I learned from my friend who grew up in the area near Casablanca that this used to be a spot where«old-timers» like her uncle would come, have a drink and shoot the breeze with older neighborhood folks. I feel like this reincarnation has tried to stay true to the original feel. I love the interior of the space. And I really love the bar. It’s long and provides enough space for people to gather around to drink and converse. I also love that there is a DJ area where someone is usually on the 1s and 2s spinning old school classics. There’s so much more to say about this spot, but honestly, I would suggest that if you live in the neighborhood, just walk/skip/ride on over and check it out.

Casablanca on a Saturday night is prob the most popping it gets in Bedstuy, if not, point me in the right direction. Too crowded by 11P to order any drinks without missing a song I wanna dance to, but just right in terms of grown folk partying. I enjoyed myself to the fullest, the music, the diverse mixture of people, the ambiance all on point. This is the place to be for dancing and enjoying life in Bedstuy.

In the midst of «this Brooklyn neighborhood“you find Casablanca. In the midst of the diverse, non childish, friendly crowd at Casablanca you find peace. The«not looking over shoulders» peace. Everyone was having fun; yapping, drinking and jamming to the pumping sound of the almost perfect DJ. This ordinary looking, corner building blends in perfectly with the neighborhood, be that as it may, the interior makes a statement. The vintage/catholic type ceilings, paint deprived walls, a bar that almost stretches from one end to the next and occupant capacity are just right. Because the crowd was diverse I expected a mixed music genre but only a few songs other than hip hop were played the entire time we were there. Nonetheless, I shake my head in approval.

SERIOUSLY. I love this bar. I hardly know where to start. The crowd is so so good. It’s diverse in color, gender, orientation and just about any other way you can think of– Starbucks should take some tips from Casablanca on their next PR move. The bartenders are spot-on. Good drinks, nice and professional. THEMUSIC. We went on a Friday night and the DJ was really exceptional. Like… REALLYEXCEPTIONALLYAMAZING. Don’t come on a weekend night expecting to have an in depth conversation– but definitely plan to dance.

The day has come. The new bridge and tunnel is the Manhattanite who crosses the Manhattan Bridge for nights out in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. And if there is a single bar that could be responsible for this phenomenon, it is Casablanca Cocktail Lounge. The bar proves what all of us 30-plus something, aging, sick of the scene, bridge and tunnel types don’t take for granted. Being kind will warm your soul, make you a better person and get you across the bridge. These principles can indeed live in a bar and if there is any bar that lives up to this kind of standard, it is Casablanca Cocktail Lounge. Shouldn’t «nice» be just a really nice way to spend one’s down time? I think so. This spot has an amazing vibe, good drinks, friendly bartenders and killer DJs. It’s a true gem that gives this Bridge and Tunneler a reason to cross a bridge at midnight and then again on my way home at 4 am.

I remember when the«Casablanca» was not the«New»! 3 generations of my family have fallen off the barstools back in the day. Did you know that it is one of the very few(maybe 2) continuously running bars in Bed stuy for the last 40+ years? Ms. Esther, last owner, RIP, was an AWESOME woman(one of my ‘Shero’s’) and I truly still mourn her demise(cocktail dress and fuzzy slippers near the end)! Okay, on to the new… John and his partners have done an amazing job here! Had a few«reservations»…but they eliminated them in a NYC heartbeat! As an «oldtimer» in the nabe., I’m absolutely LOVING this place! Good booze… good vibes… good music… good crowd! Different, but kinda the same. Still a neighborhood place. No pretensions. I even shook these old bones on the dance floor a few times! I see another 50+ years of the«Casablanca» serving the ‘hood as it was always meant to do! What else can I write? A dissertation! Just go! Find your«groove»…find your night… young, old, early, late, in between, not sure, open to whatever… They have it all. Make it your«place». You will NOT be disappointed!

My friends have been talking about this spot for a few weeks now but I haven’t been able to check in out. Well last night that all changed. Whoever the owner is, they have to be very pleased with the location and the overall feel of the place. You walk in and you feel almost catapulted back to a magical time. I almost expected to see James Dean or Marilyn Monroe sitting at the bar. I just loved the unfinished touch of the place throughout. I wouldn’t change a thing. The bartender was very attentive and knowledgable and the DJ last night was off the chain. I even bought him a beer, he was so dam good. Listen, do yourself a favors and check out Casablanca with a few friends or maybe just yourself as I did. There is even a small space for you to get your swerve on. You can’t beat that and no other bar lounge in the area can boast that either!

I like this place a lot. Most important part: a pretty mixed crowd representing many types of people that inhabit this neighborhood. There’s a great vibe in here, I’ve seen it pretty crowded on weekends and it’s still all love. The bartenders are competent and generally friendly. I can get a beer at a good price and the cocktails are made with a little more than average care. The owner is always friendly and accommodating. Tonight he really went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Every night I’ve been here there has been a DJ mixing some pretty good tunes. Sometimes it had been too loud but it seems like they’ve figure out the appropriate levels. Really happy to have Casablanca in the neighborhood — definitely worth an evening to check out the heavily gingered Dark & Stormy.

I’ve been reading about this place since it opened and finally made the trek on a recent Sunday night to meet a friend who lives in the neighborhood. All I can say is I wish I lived closer so I could come here all the time. What a great bar! Note that there’s a door on Malcolm X(which is the address), but it’s not the entrance. The real entrance is on MacDonough. Not sure what it’s like on a Friday or Saturday night, but it wasn’t crowded at all on a Sunday.(It’s pretty spacious inside anyway, with a very long bar, tables and chairs, and a lot of standing room.) I arrived before my friend did and ordered a gimlet(made perfectly). When I got out my wallet, the awesome bartender said, «Oh, no need for that now. We’ll deal with all that later.»(Cash only, by the way.) After my friend got there, the bartender brought her drink to us at the table – same thing with the next round. Extremely nice guy. He definitely seemed like the kind of person who recognized and appreciated the regulars while welcoming the newbies. It was also really nice to see such a diverse crowd in the bar – something you don’t find everywhere. It seems very neighborhoody without being exclusionary, which provides a great atmosphere. My visit was well worth the 40-minute train ride, and I definitely intend to return!
