Throughout high school, college, and law school, I was in the service industry. I waited tables for 10 plus years in total. As such, I have the utmost respect for people in the service industry and am typically extremely forgiving of people who are in the industry. With that being said, tonight I brought an out of town friend for her birthday to Building on Bond because I live a couple of blocks away and didn’t want to face the cold walking any further. I never had dinner there and had high hopes for a memorable birthday. Instead, I was greatly disappointed in the service I received. So much so, that this is the first negative review I have ever written. It started when our server took 20 minutes to take our food/drink order. Then, our food was brought out prior to receiving our appetizer. When we called the waitress over to tell her we never received our appetizer, her response was«I will look into it.» She never came back and never inquired as to how our food was. To order a second glass of wine, we had to flag her down like a Manhattan taxi. We didn’t receive a bottle of still water until we received our check and l when we received the check, it was handed to us by our waitress without an apology for the appetizer issue, a question as to how our dinner was, or a thank you for our patronage. I have to say I am highly dissatisfied with the service I received and sadly will not be returning despite how close I live.

Stumbled upon this gem after doing a Google search for«great places to eat near the Barclays Center» and boy did I luck out! Super cute neighborhood joint, great service and really wonderful flavorful home cooked food — the Cobb Salad was killer! I will most definitely be making a return visit!

Looking forward to being a local — great atmosphere. I stopped in for a couple of beers around 11.15p. Kate was a gracious conversationalist!

What a lovely spot. Friendly service, ambiance and tasty menu. I had the charred kale salad and exclaimed at the first bite. I loved it. Split some Mac and cheese which was more than enough. Wish I had room for the banana chocolate bread pudding… And all the other things on the menu. Yum.

HI Phil: We had the wings(6 to be exact). My co-worker had a burger and fries and I had the chicken sandwich and fries. I found the meat on the bread to be very small and the sandwich and fries very small. I’d compare it to a kids meal along with the 6 wings. The drinks were veery good though!

Cool vibe, definitely comes off to me like a «hipster bar» …but hey, it’s Brooklyn. Menu is pretty limited to sandwiches and salads. They do have daily specials. The cocktails all look amazing and the one that I had(Pimm’s Cup) was delicious. My boyfriend and I came here to grab a light dinner after catching a movie nearby. I wasn’t too hungry so I got the Korean Fried Chicken Wings from the appetizers. My boyfriend got the special of the day, a roasted half-chicken served with green beans and mashed potatoes. We also got the brussel sprouts to split. Food came out pretty fast, good portion sizes though the brussel sprouts were definitely a little overpriced($ 9 for a small dish). Nonetheless, they were seasoned and sautéed well. The KFC was not bad, I’ve had better but then again didn’t expect much from this place. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal too, but nothing really blew us away. The two-seater booths are uncomfortably narrow. I felt like I was in a toddler-sized church pew. Solid place to grab a drink, still wouldn’t come out of my way again.

If you’re in the neighborhood this is a good place to get brunch. I wouldn’t make it a destination though. I got a spinach benedict and it was very good. Nothing too special, but the eggs were cooked exactly right and the hollandaise was on point. The service was great, we were seated right away and our server was friendly and attentive.

It’s high time I updated my review of Building on Bond because: 1. It’s been 4.5 years since the last one. 2. They no longer serve the chorizo burger that I didn’t quite love.* 3. I’ve been here many times since. 4. They are a reliably solid choice for brunch, lunch, and dinner in the neighborhood. With a good selection of beers, sandwiches, salads, cocktails and more(mac and cheese, etc.), Building on Bond does its best to be all things to all people, and they are pretty successful. I’ve taken meetings here over coffee,** I’ve had lazy weekday Cobb salad lunches at the tables outside, I’ve cured hangovers with their brunch burger… Basically, like Biz Markie’s friend, Building on Bond is open all day, and they’ve got what you need. Including a surprisingly decent portobello reuben sandwich, although I do object to the very idea of such a thing. _____________ *As such, the odd incest analogy I made is outdated. **And by coffee, I mean wine.

Boooo they changed their Mac & cheese since the last time I came here maybe about a year ago. It’s absolutely awful now with low quality cheese and tastes like it was cooked it a wood pile. So disappointing. The old Mac and cheese with the bacon bits and ooey gooey goodness was my favorite part of this place.

Excellent food, low key atmosphere, and great service. The burger is best in the neighborhood.

I came here for dinner last night with a friend. Mine: charred kale salad with butternut squash chunks and cider vinaigrette and the mushroom quinoa as a side. While the charred kale had a nice flavor I wish there were more and larger chunks of squash. The quinoa was a nice-sized portion as a side. Service was fine and the waiter was kind enough to charge my phone. So why only three stars? The food was good but not amazing and served lukewarm. My friend liked her roasted green beans but didn’t rave about them either.

I live a literal 1-minute walk from here so I’ve been numerous times, and every time I go, I’m less and less impressed. Cute if confusing décor, but man is their food the mediocre-st of the mediocre. Typical Brooklyn menu with typical(read: slightly and unnecessarily inflated) Brooklyn prices, and you will leave saying, «Yup, that was food.»

I wouldn’t tell anyone to go too far out of their way to come here, but I live nearby and they treat the neighborhood right. There is great outdoor seating and they welcome you to bring your pet. I enjoy bringing my dog and the servers always bring her out a bowl of water. The people that work here are really nice, and I’ve never had issues with the service worth mentioning. I’ve had things from the menu that are under-whelming, but I found a few go-to items like the mushroom reuben that never disappoint.

Good thing they included an 18% tip on the bill, because the terrible service wouldn’t have earned them any out of the goodness of my heart. Waited 20 minutes for anyone to come and take our drink orders, they brought the wrong food and beer, then waited another half hour just to pay, because the place was practically empty, including the server, apparently. The $ 15 Cobb salad is a joke. Decent cocktail, though! At least the bartender was trying.

We recently had a late brunch at Building on Bond on a Saturday. I hadn’t been here for a couple years, but was again struck by the eclectically cool decoration. Lots of outdoor seating for nicer days, as well. The service was very friendly and laid-back. I had an outstanding Pimms Cup(best day drink ever), and my girlfriend enjoyed the sparkling gin drink she ordered. The food was good, well-sized, and well-priced — not sure you can ask for much more out of brunch. Three tasty pancakes with blueberries and a side of grilled chicken sausage for me, and an enormous BE&C sandwich with fries for her. Nothing unusual or crazy in terms of the food here, just well-executed standards at a decent price in a large, funky/fun space. I’m a fan.

I enjoyed my meal here. Good omelette and delicious cappuccino. If the service were better, I’d have given more stars. To be fair, I arrived at 10:55– right before a changeover to lunch service. Still, I waited 10 minutes to receive a menu, had to ask for water twice and had to ask for bread twice. When bill arrived, I found that I was charged $ 2 for bread with an omelette. I felt that the server should have informed me of this prior.

Sadly, I agree with other reviewers that the old brunch menu is sorely missed, especially the salmon and bagel plate. I’d be super curious to know if anyone actually orders the«trout pâté» for brunch. Last time I went I had the veggie burger and fries which I found to be pretty satisfying. The french fries especially are excellent. I’ve also had the Cobb salad which is fine. Everyone else ordered pancakes or eggs that looked fairly average. We were a group of 6 and the middle table space worked well for us. I just wish the brunch menu was better. Please do something about this because BOB Is a charming brunch place!

Ugh, Building on Bond, why do you disappoint me so? I used to love this place… probably even more than it deserved to be loved. The food was never especially exciting or imaginative, but it was consistently good, fairly priced and there were lots of options, so it was an easy place to take people. Not to mention, the atmosphere is kitschy and cute(i.e., «Brooklyn»). I especially liked their cobb salad and the pulled pork benedict for brunch. Well, I went back this past weekend when I had a friend visiting from out of town. Us «locals» thought it would be a perfect spot since we were a group of six with variable palates. Also, I have never had to wait for brunch here and, until this past Saturday, I never had a meal here I didn’t care for. The menu was about 1⁄10 of the size it once was. Not to mention, there was nothing that even stood out. Boring pancakes, eggs any style, etc. The choices were reminiscent of an unsophisticated cruise ship buffet, except there were only a handful of options to choose from and they gave much less food than I remembered. The eggs benedict didn’t come with anything… no side greens and/or potatoes. It seemed like every time one of my friends would ask if their food came with something on the side the answer was a resounding, «No.» The pulled pork benedict was nowhere to be found on the menu. And they were out of the only thing that sounded remotely interesting, the porchetta sandwich. Voraciously hungry, I ordered what I thought would be the largest plate, the burger and fries. Extremely unexciting. The patty was flat and sad looking and the flavor was unmemorable. I am confident that I could have grilled a better burger myself… and I have never operated a grill before. As for everyone else, the unanimous reaction was, «What the hell happened to this place?!» I REALLY hope BoB goes back to their old ways — namely, large variety, consistently tasty food, and generous portions. Until then, I will be eating elsewhere.

B.O.B is the safe go-to brunch spot for us. With a great ambiance and friendly staff, I am not sure why there is not a bigger hype around this spot. Nothing on the menu is extraordinary but every thing on the menu is really good. I have had most of things on the brunch menu and everything was good. We just came back from brunch and today we had brisket potato hash and it was probably one of the best brunch food in a long time!

Great brunch place! The restaurant has this hipster, kitschy feeling to it lol. The décor was slightly rustic with antiques. Definitely fits in with the Brooklyn vibe. The service was good/attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing. Good place to catch up with friends or regroup after excessive drinking the night before haha. I got the cranberry pecan french toast. I normally get something savory for brunch because the sweet dishes never fill me up that much. However, the cranberry and pecan are what sold me, and it was a great choice. I also got a side of bacon to get the sweet + savory aspect. I was expecting like 2 – 3 pieces because restaurants tend to skimp out when you get sides. I was pleasantly surprised to get a good amount of bacon to munch on with the french toast. The place was fairly packed when we went, so make sure you don’t get there too hungry because there might be a wait ahead!
