Everyone who works here is extremely friendly and helpful, and the selection is very good. When I have been uncertain about exactly what to buy, they always have good suggestions based on my particular needs and goals. Additionally, they always have dog treats and helpful training tips to dispense!

it is probably the best pet shop in nyc.

Place is gross, and the guy doesn’t even bother to say hello when you walk in. Its not really an aquarium anyway, they have a handful of freshwater tanks.

Gross little place. The fishes are sick and the prices are too high and all the toys for cats and dogs are dirty. I bought a laser light for my cat to tag along with, and it didn’t even work, battery-​less. The man cares about himself and ALWAYS watch TV. What a dirty place.

I bought some fish and some dog supplies here. The fish tanks were in good condition, and the fish I bought from the store lasted for quite a while — 8 months or so, until my own neglect of the tank introduced a fungus that killed them. I’m going back here to get fish again.
besides, I’m always, always happy to support independent pet stores, especially those who take care of aquariums, which is now small business.

Horrible in every way. This place reeks of cat pee, and it is dirty. The owner, or whoever he was behind the desk, was watching tv and never so much as glanced up at us. The cat food that I went in for was not priced, when I asked him for a price he said «$ 13.99». That’s what I usually pay for the 8 lb. bag, I’m certainly not going to pay that for the 4 lb. bag. How does a place like this even stay in business. Oh, and there are animals painted on the outside of the building, and the bunny looks like he is bleeding. That should have been a sign.

The good man who owned and ran this shop sold, the new owners hiked the price of the food we purchase by .10 a can. I no longer feel loyal to this store.

in march, as a gift for my hubby, i bought a fancy goldfish (red oranda) from them. i hadn’t had a fancy since i was 12 and didn’t know that even just one can’t live in a bowl. the guy, of course, sells me a bowl and says it’s ok for the fish. i was so excited to surprise my husband that i didn’t notice the rank smell of cat pee that radiates through the store and out into the street. by the end of he evening the fish, mortimer, was gasping for air. the next day, we had to rush him into a brand new, unestablished tank where he turned black from ammonia burns from the bowl. then he got ick which lead to a bacterial infection and so on. amazingly we nursed him back to health. we also became experts in fancy goldfish health!
at the end of august, i went back to the store to look at their goldfish stock. besides the floating dead fish, the rest had such bad ick that it was totally clogging their gills. i understand that it’s hard to keep a totally overcrowded tank healthy… but these fish had very advanced, very obvious ick infestations!
DON’T buy fish from them!
besides that, i give them 2 stars and not just one because, even though they don’t know how to take care of fish keep the place clean of cat urine, a couple of the guys are nice and the kitty litter is affordable.
