Traveled to this Brooklyn place to enjoy a vegan meal… a request from my daughter. The brick walls & light wood tables plus red radiators provide a cozy place. The menu has a good amount of items to choose from. I ordered the CURRY Supreme… it needed more flavor. My daughter really enjoyed the Harvest Plate. The waitress was attentive & friendly. Would try it again!

I am a Manhattan girl who is very picky about my food and let me just say Bliss Café is a breath of fresh air!!! Not only is everything fresh but the dressing they use for their salad is the best I ever had! My boyfriend who is a big meat man even loves Bliss! I go once a week and love the local art and warm friendly greeting I always get when I walk in. It’s amazing restaurants like this that make New York what it is!

Not the best, but certainly not the worst. As Unilocal says, A-OK. Not bad for when you want something vegan/basic/semi-healthy and you’re in the area.

Food is amazing! But why is it that half of the Williamsburg eateries don’t take cards(debt even) I end up not going here more often because they don’t take cards :(

Bliss Café isn’t anything too extraordinary. There are definitely several other vegetarian and vegan options to choose from, but if you find yourself hungry and nearby then this place will do the trick. This establishment only takes cash for payment. Let’s go ahead and get that out of the way since they do not announce it on your arrival. Thanks to all you Unilocalers lookin’ out for each other. We weren’t sure how this place worked, so we just plopped down on a table when we weren’t directed on what to do. A woman came over to us and noticed our table was dirty so she cleaned it off before handing us a menu. Although only occupying three other patrons, this restaurant was kind of a mess, from the table to the floor to the bathroom. It was just… greasy. Our waitress was chattin’ up a storm with her friend or sister or whomever. She came over to take our order, placed it and would sit back down between customers. She had two older gentleman telling her to ‘sit down’ and ‘take a break’ and ‘we’ll see you tomorrow’ so I guess they were regulars. She wasn’t really preoccupied with running the business, the man in the back was the one cooking the food AND clearing the few tables they had. The menu is handwritten and photocopied. It was kind of annoying to read. My boyfriend’s menu had an item scratched out and mine didn’t. The lady brought us water. She didn’t ask us what we wanted to drink so I can’t tell you what they offer. Anyway, my boyfriend and I split the Lentil-Beet burger. He isn’t a huge fan of beets, which I forgot in my fit of hanger, but luckily he eats anything. The burger was overall good. It was on a nice bun and came with a side of vegan coleslaw and tortilla chips. It was enough food for the both of us because we weren’t extremely hungry but it would be a good sized portion for one person. The food was just good, at best. The beet in the burger made it interesting but nothing else stuck out. From my expertise, I can’t say that this place is as vegan friendly as it advertises. The woman running the joint wasn’t as attentive as she could have been. The burger was about $ 12(expensive) which is typical of New York, from my experiences. You can definitely get better service and better food at a cleaner establishment elsewhere.

VEGANBREAKFASTBURRITO That is all you need to know. I’ve had the regular breakfast burrito with egg and it’s not as good. There’s something about their tofu scramble. THE best. Everything else on the menu that doesn’t involve tofu scramble is just ok. Oh. And it’s CHEAP.

Emphasis on the café. Staff is wonderfully nice and quick to get me seated. This place might seem bland for a novice vegan, but for a newbie I can see that the flavors will be new and excitingly different. So, if you want an intro to vegan food, this is the place to go. However, I hope this place can invest in making it not feel like a vegan dive café. Between the grime on the wall, worn out hard wood floors, it made me question where my cash was going. I ordered the lentil burger and the portion size was smaller than expected, but adding in the small scoop of brown rice was just enough and I left feeling satisfied. I wasn’t sure if I should be satisfied that the portion was just right and the flavors were spot on or if I was hoping for something new and different and the atmosphere just made it hard for me to appreciate what this place is trying to do.

First of all, The organic ketchup is not organic: they put Heinz high fructose corn syrup into organic ketchup bottles. The interior says they don’t care which means they don’t care. The menu is boring and doesn’t even try to be creative. Bliss Café only exists to cater to the area’s tourism and to make $$. The food is bland and typical. The other Bliss has closed, just fyi. The service is non existent, it might as well be a self service, and the vibes are just awful. I’m never going there again. I hope this Unilocal review prevents you from ever going here.

Super super cute place with lots of vegan options. I got the regular French toast for brunch(they have vegan French toast too) with vegan maple whip and fresh fruit. It was amazing. Good environment too. exposed brick wall with cute paintings and another painted rainbow wall.

I got lunch for two at Bliss a weeks ago. We shared an appetizer of the Supreme Nachos, which were fantastic. We received our entrees fairly quickly. I got a grilled portobello/zucchini sandwich and my cousin had the Tofu Club. My portobello sandwich was great, my cousins tofu club, however was very bad. She took two bites and I took one. I almost spit it out. I’ve been vegan 18 months now and I’m used to food that may not be appealing to non-vegans,(such as tempeh, tofu, or cheese alternatives) but this was beyond that. The bread was very dry,(may have been gluten free) and the tofu was just… prepared badly. It would’ve been hard for anyone to swallow. We had to wash our 1 – 2 bites down with water, like taking a cumbersome, bitter multivitamin. The waitress never asked how everything was. After I ate my sandwich we asked for the check. She took my cousins uneaten sandwich without asking if it was okay. I regret not asking to have that sandwich taken off the bill, or replaced, but they should’ve offered. We were clearly disappointed. I don’t plan on going back to Bliss. I’ve eaten tofu at vegan and non-vegan places many times, and that was the worst tofu I’ve had anywhere. I wouldn’t have gone through the trouble to write this negative review if they just offered to refund my cousins bad sandwich.

The gf wanted to walk from bed-stuy to this area ugh. So I said yeah. By the time we got here I was ready to munch. I was feeling a burrito for a place next door but we came here cause the vegetarian non gmo stuff. I got a mushroom-zucchini tomato pesto sandwich. It was actually pretty good the pesto saved it. The cole slaw was no Bueno and the salad dressing was not what I ordered(didn’t knock stars for that). Place was just average like completely average just with gmo vegetarian food. The floor/seats could use a sanding and finish as the chairs were digging into the floor and the bench have my gf and her friend splinters.

This place is most certainly not vegan bliss. While I’m neither a vegan or vegetarian by label, I eat and cook many vegan dishes at home so I sometimes like trying vegan places. I should have known this would be a mistake just by the looks of this place but sometimes a place looks shabby and the food is amazing. not the case here. Everything we had here was so bland, that includes the food and restaurant itself. Lots of options but nothing that really stands out, the place is super dark and just looks dirty. This is place is seriously one of the reasons most people think vegan food is terrible and tasteless. It makes me sad because vegan food CAN be super delicious it just is not done right here. I ordered a egg sandwich with tomato, vegan cheese and vegan bacon. Egg sandwiches should always be served warm and the bagel should be at least a little warm or toasted. This was the most boring sandwich I’ve ever had and the vegan bacon was just pure sadness. I’ve had vegan bacon before and it can be make nice and crispy and with flavor. This was just bleh. My guy fit the bean burrito which he also didn’t enjoy and the chili on the side was lacking flavor aswell. I won’t be back here and I’m really upset that I couldn’t like this place, there needs to be more places that serve GOOD vegan food.

Sometimes you want to order from a place so healthy that no matter what you get you’re doing the right thing. That is Bliss. Favorites include the Harvest Plate, the Bliss Bowl, and the Curry Plate. I recommend anything with grilled tempeh, for that full bodied, nutty flavor, or traditional tofu for a more silky texture. Their cornbread is so thick, moist and delicious, it ends up being the star of the show. Unfortunately for me, I find a lot of their dishes to be kinda bland. Minus one star for the mandatory inclusion of sriracha to everything.

Ah. My last time. The resto business is an incredibly tough one. Especially in NY. Heck, all business has become tough and competitive. With food, our needs tend to be predictable. Especially at a vegan joint. — make it fresh — show that it was made with some awareness and care — have the place be clean, and if in Brooklyn, give it a signature personality. People — vegan food doesn’t have to taste dead. I can make you vegan food so exquisite and delicious that you will roll your eyes back into your head in a state of extended transcendence. Sadly, Bliss doesn’t seem to bring love to the table. Sometimes I go there for«nutritional sustenance» and to watch good looking vegetarians. Now that I have seen the little guest below lurking by the bathroom door, I have little reason to go back. So sad. I would love to like you. The neighborhood could use a clean, open, creative vegan joint.
