Bene Restaurant & Pizzeria

Maybe I’d try the pizza here if they weren’t such bad neighbors. Their delivery guys drive right up the sidewalk on their electric bikes every night. They couldn’t care less that doing this is both illegal and jerky (how old are you guys? 10?). Plus there’s always a mess on the sidewalk where they leave their trash bags. In the summer, it’s particularly disgusting.
I refuse to patronize them. Lousy, lousy neighbors.

The food’s okay, but every night they do a half-​assed job of putting their trash out – so that every morning the sidewalk in front of their restaurant is strewn with disgusting trash. Pretty unappetizing!

My sons and I always go to Bene whenever we are at Vanderbilt Playground across the street. The pizza is always tasty and fresh, and the staff are friendly.
I’d never ordered delivery because I figured we were out of their delivery area. However, this past Saturday we were having a birthday party, and I decided to give Bene a call. I asked the guy if there were any way they could rush the four pizzas since I’d ordered late. The guy said, «I’ll put them in the oven right now!» The pies arrived 35 minutes later, and everyone mentioned how good they were.
This is not high-​end fancy pizza. It’s good, simple, tasty pizza.

First time I ordered from here. Despite the mixed reviews I thought the pizza was pretty good. The crust was crispy and they weren’t stingy on the toppings. The delivery guy was friendly too.

The Heroes are good, slices are good. I haven’t had a bad experience yet. This is my go to place near me for pizza. I like it a lot.

What happened to this place? Oh my gosh. We stopped going because the quality and service got so bad. I haven’t seen my beloved vodka sauce pizza there in a while. We had to move from Brooklyn and this place didn’t make my last of final places to go. It’s become a huge disappointment.

Better than average pizza. It’s real New York pizza with a thin crust and tangy, not overly sweet sauce. Not award winning artisanal stuff, not standardized product with canned sauce. The setting is Ok, just a pizza joint.

I don’t know what was worst; the pie or the service. I placed an order on grubhub for 2 pies. The Delivery man Called me 3 times and I didn’t notice; then he rang the bell. I buzzed him him but he rang again. I then asked; «who is it.» He yelled and woke up my 1 year old daughter because that how loud he yelled. All I heard was; «you better come down if you want your pizza.» I flew down the stairs because I didn’t understand how a delivery man could be so rude. I got down there and he decided to tear into me verbal. I told him to go talk to his mother with that mouth. Later on I received a call from who I guess was the owner; claiming not to take sides. He asked me; «was there a problem coming down to get the food.» I told him; yes but I didn’t have a problem with it. I then told him how rude his delivery man was when I got my food. He didn’t seem to care.
I order food because of convenience not because I’m lazy. I sometimes have all three kids with me alone and it’s just easy to order food. If I had to just worry bout myself I would just order food or go pick it up. I don’t want to come downstairs to pick up my food. I can’t really. That means I have to take 2 out of the 3 (one is 10 years old) kids down with me. Carry one of them and the food? So no; I don’t want to come down nor do I need someone calling me and asking me; «if I have a problem?»
Notice I have not even talked about the pizza yet. It sucked. I go to a restaurant on Flatbush ave called C&J; they are rude but I got back. The food is just that good. Will I order from Bene again? No; bad service and bad food. I’m good!

This place is good. It’s not the best/​most amazing pizza place in Brooklyn, but it’s consistently good. The guys behind the counter are nice and fast. The restaurant is clean and from I can see behind the counter, the kitchen is very clean too.
Here’s a great example of why they’re better than most: My wife and I stopped in for takeout dinner tonight. They just had a big order come in so we had to wait a little longer than usual. They gave us a couple of cookies while we waited and apologized. That’s more than most restaurants do, let alone a small pizza shop in the middle of nowhere Brooklyn.

just ordered from benes. placed order via seamless at 3:20 pm. this is not a busy time for any restaurant in nyc. i just received my pizza at 4:43 pm exactly one hour and 23 minutes later. i should point out that i live approximately 3 blocks from the pizza joint! the delivery guy said «oh the delivery on another place took too long» and looked at me. i have lived in this area for a long time and ordered from benes before, i saw they switched management and they had a deal online so i decided to try it out. i was starving when it arrived only to be disappointed by pizza that isn’t as good as it used to be. the crust reminds me of dominos pizza. the sauce cheese etc nothing spectacular. do not order from here unless you want to wait forever for crappy pizza.

Not bad, but no longer the best slice in the neighborhood. That distinction goes to The Sicilian. Bene is still fine in a punch, but the new owners have changed the recipe for the crust and things have gone downhill

I remember when I used to come here as a teenager, to eat a nice buffalo slice, after a long day in prospect park. NOT ANYMORE. This place obviously has new owners, and its gone downhill since. What use to be a delectable buffalo slice has turned to crap. Got charged 4 bucks for the worst slice I’ve experienced. Employees seemed like they don’t give a crap about the business. Also, place got a C rating with the health department, that cant be good. I’ll never set foot in this place again.

Ugh. I’ve dropped by for pizza which has always been fantastic. However, I got a pizza delivered tonight and it was undercooked with an overly sweet sauce. Pretty terrible. Booo.

Got delivery from here today. Meatball pizza, mozz sticks, salad, broccoli & pepperoni pinwheels. Very mediocre pizza with dry meatballs. The mozz sticks and pinwheels were decent — I liked the broccoli better than the pepperoni. Salad was fine but Italian dressing was mostly oil. We probably won’t order from here again, there are better delivery options even in our restaurant void hood (PLG).

And true as it was explained to me, the Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip cookies are addictive. You’ve never seen or tasted cookies like these — perfect crispiness, perfect crumbliness, and perfect deliciousness. And at the current rate of 50 cents a cookie, they’re totally irresistable.

Our go to pizza place in the neighborhood. Very solid pie with a fantastic tomato sauce. Delivery is fast and the prices are decent for such a quality pie.

Under new ownership and they’ve changed the recipes! The new pizza sauce is overly sweet for my liking. Bene used to have the best fresh mozzarella pie. Wish they would bring the old menu/​recipes back.

We waited for a freshly made pie… and maybe this guy had an off day, because the pie was made poorly. The sauce was tasty, but the crust was too thick and hard to chew off. Later that night, my stomach didn’t agree with my choice of pizza either. It was a disappointment.
