The idea is fun and kitschy. The execution… not great. The music is too loud. The bartenders are not friendly. We had to wait for quite a while to get noticed and only after moving around the bar to a few different spots. The bar was full of loud bros hitting on any female in the vicinity.

Trying to pass themselves off as a craft cocktail bar, but the drinks are bland and boring. Couldn’t taste any ginger beer/ginger in the Dark and Stormy I ordered and the Old Fashioned tasted like it was poured from a pitcher of same mixed three days ago and left open in a fridge. Also, the tall bartender with the beard is trying sooooo hard. He’s basically the«cool Mom» of bartenders. Avoid this place.

Cute bar with a beauty salon décor. Relaxed atmosphere, and a friendly bar attender. Since I never been to this place I decided to give it a try. They have a variety of cocktails and beer.

I came right at the end of happy hour and the bartender still gave me the happy hour price. That’s an A in my book. Mixed crowd… a couple on a date(?) A group of ladies(girl’s night?) and a small group of guys with a few stragglers here and there. I didn’t see anyone sitting anywhere other than the bar. The game was playing — they had it projected onto the wall. The wine was good… price is standard for the area. I’d come again during happy hour :)

I generally like to like things especially local ones but wow… This place has a huge potential. It’s in the middle of a popular neighborhood, the brand name is known by uptight classy hipsters, and in a part of Brooklyn where EVERYONENEEDS A DRINK! Seriously, this place can market itself if it wasn’t for the constantly craptacular service and varying prices. That alone will be the end of this place if they don’t figure it out. I was in the bar through 2 bartenders and my drink price changed from one to the the other — and no, it wasn’t Happy Hour. I ordered a seltzer water at some point and got tap water. All I received when I nicely asked for what I original asked for = attitude. Folks, Park Slope isn’t 1998 Williamsburg where you could get away with being too cool for school as a service worker. People expect a Coke and a smile, or at least just basic customer service. How hard is that? (Yes I’ve bartended and I know it can be tough but just being an all out jerk initially isn’s the answer.) …

Definitely my favorite bar in the NYC, I made it my drinking spot. People are great. Bartenders very attentive to everyone. Cheers!!!

Came here on a date. I ordered the Hello Kitty. The decorations were nice and I could see it being fun if they have themed nights. But when we went it was pretty dead. Our bartender was cool, mildly neglectful. My Hello Kitty was OK… I wasn’t really impressed. I dont think my date was impressed with his drink either. When we decided to move on my date had to stand up and kinda shout to get the bartender’s attention. It was slightly funny how he did it but it was kind of annoying because the bartender was literally sitting on the bar zoned out on his phone. Kinda unprofessional. Maybe I caught the place on an off night. I’d return but this would be a momentary stop of bar hopping.

I was surprised to learn that this is an OFFICIAL beauty bar, and not some cheap derivative like you would guess from the awkward bar in the center of the room, piles of trash in the corners, and No Doubt playing when I walked in. They even play game of thrones on sunday night!!! But lo and behold, a quick Google search proved me wrong. It is by far the worst BB I have been to. If you are in the area, go to the High Dive next door. It’s way more fun.

My friend and I were casually looking for a bar for some drinks and The Beauty Bar brought us in with its retro décor. It was a Friday evening around 6PM and there were only a few people. They had an old movie playing in the back and hair salon chairs for seating which was pretty neat. The bartender was pretty chill. We were there during happy hour and he made me a really nice cocktail that wasn’t on the menu. They don’t serve food. A cool and unique bar. Go check it out.

Despite the tasty cocktails this place serves, the bartenders don’t know the first thing about service. They are rude and sharp with every movement; it made me uncomfortable about taking an extra second to decide what I wanted to drink. I also think it’s a little too bright inside and there is nowhere particularly cozy to sit, it’s either high bar stools or these couches that you fall into kinda far back. Wouldn’t come back.

Beauty Bar is one of my favorite bars on 5th Avenue. With its intentionally tacky décor, super fun ambiance, and kickass bartenders, the bar invites a diverse crowd. Over the past few months, I’ve managed to convince a few unfortunate souls to trek it over to Park Slope for weeknight drinks(my preferred nights to drink). When I dragged my friends from Queens, Manhattan and Jersey, this bar always seemed to be their favorite stop on Vania’s Park Slope bar«crawl»(not much of a crawl since we typically stop after 3 bars). All of them always think the commute was worth it after setting foot here. My friends always get a kick out of the décor. There’s a really awesome bartender that looks like a younger, equally cool version of Lenny Kravitz. While faux-Lenny is cool, all the bartenders I’ve encountered here have also been über cool and they all have this contagiously positive energy. The place is always fun, regardless of the time and day. Every weeknight, there’s always a good crowd in the house(nothing crazy though). On weekends, it gets a bit crowded but again, you can always find a seat at the bar. I’m not much into specialty cocktails, so I can’t comment on the originality or taste of the drinks, but they pour stiff drinks and there’s a $ 5 beer & shot deal, so I’m happy.

Ehhh. The drinks are fabulous, but that’s about it. We were looking forward to manicures and drinks, only to find out that this location no longer provides manicures. So really… it’s just another bar.

I loved it here! Beauty Bar was just what we were looking for. We arrived around 9pm on Saturday and it was pretty empty, just a smattering of people at the bar. They have a surprisingly good selection of beer on tap. And my vodka sprite was jumbo sized and strong… Strong enough to give me the hiccups after 2 and a half. My friend and I scored some hair dryer chairs by the door. We had our own cozy little corner and had a great time catching up and chatting with strangers as the night stretched on. By midnight it was near impossible to get to the bar… Even though it didn’t feel that crowded mostly everyone was sitting/standing at the bar, making getting a drink difficult. There’s one bartender with dreds that was really nice and friendly. I think the décor and idea of Beauty Bar is so cute. The big screen tv is a little strange but definitely another thing to keep you occupied. This seems like a great place for a birthday party or get together,

This place was super badass, and just the perfect spot for our Friday night revelry. After leaving the rehearsal dinner, and not feeling the vibe of High Dive nearby, we checked out Beauty Bar, wanting a quieter, laid-back lounge-y type place to hang out. Boy, did we hit the jackpot! The 50s hair-salon vibe is cute as hell, and the overall feel of the place is just fun without trying too hard. The effect is somewhat thrown off by the GIANTVIDEOWALL, but the night we were there, they were playing Top Gun, and I cannot say enough good things about a bar that has Top Gun playing. The sound of the movie was off, closed-captioning provided the dialog, and the chill music was a nice touch. The bartenders were smooth and smart, and I could NOT believe the $ 5.00 price point for a tallboy of PBR and a shot of Evan Williams. YUM. We had a great time here, and I would definitely come back for more!

I had a good time hanging out with a group of friends. The décor here is soooo cute. They have hairdryers by the couches. Still the atmosphere wasn’t super girly where guys couldn’t hang out. Great bartenders. I had a well made pomegranate mimosa. One of their best features is they had enough space in between the bar and couches where you could wild out and dance.

There aren’t too many places in Park Slope(that I’ve come across) that play Hot 97 style music and have enough room to dance. This place has both. As the previous reviews stated, the bartenders, really do know what they’re doing and know how to make a great drink and the proper way to dispense certain beers. On that Saturday night cocktails were $ 10(but tasted as if they could charge $ 15) and beers were $ 5 – 7. I look forward to returning, hopefully, they have the same music on Fridays as well. If only they would have shown the fight on that wall size tv, instead of Casablanca. We would be in 5 star business.

What a bummer. I have been to the original Beauty Bar as well as the SF, and Las Vegas locations. I like that their whole deal was using former salon spaces, but they have apparently retreated from this original concept. All the ones I have been to were kitschy, a little divey, novelty for sure(manicures and old fashioned hair dryer seats) and sometimes dancing or band space. This one had beautifully done sparkly walls, a nice round bar in the center complete with an antique punch bowl, $ 10 drink specials and a HUGE big screen TV. This TV ruined the whole feel for me of what a Beauty Bar is supposed to be. If I wanted a sports bar, I would be at 2005th across the street. Horrible. Felt like it is supposed to be more of a non-mainstream bar, but if you are playing the basketball game, I am outta here. Didn’t even wait for a drink. There was so much potential to bring the coolness of the original out to Brooklyn. Maybe it woulda been cooler had it landed in Williamsburg or Bushwick. There needs to be a little grittiness here and it was just too clean and manicured-pardon the pun.

So disclaimer. When you get a manicure after a few drinks, you’re bound to have an accident. I love the bright glittery walls in this mood lit bar, the cocktails(especially the tequila infused ones) and the staff are friendly, as well as the patrons. I came here by my lonesome for the only manicure I could possibly get at 10pm and hey I got a drink as well for a whopping $ 12. I don’t think you can beat that but like I said, don’t expect to come out with gel nails.

… Dream is made with egg white, rhubarb appertivo, lemon, simple syrup, bourbon, and biters w/absinthe rinse. Yeah it is. During Happy Hour there’s $ 2 off all drinks plus a $ 10 drink and manicure combo between 4 – 8 p.m. Dare me. Dare you! They’ve got a two-sided bar and their cocktail program is headed up by Shane Tison of The Randolph at Broome’s. Beers run $ 5 – 7, cocktails are around $ 10 It’s a beautiful thing.
