Jewel is an awesome hairstylist. I have been going to her for 7 years and she is the only one I trust to deal with my curly hair!

I went to Unilocal to find a stylist to install a weave in Brooklyn and I find Jewel! Her name is so apropos she is definitely a jewel. My hair is natural 4a/​b fine and thin and I mostly wear protective styles like a bun, because I can’t braid and do all those nice styles. (Don’t judge me lol) I was looking for something low maintenance and easy to manipulate. I decided to wear a weave to grow and retain my length. I’ve never been completely comfortable in a weave because it’s just not my preference. I have had a weave done before with the same hair Jewel installed and it was good. However, Jewel is so sweet and has a beautiful spirit she really helped ease my concerns and even introduced me to a new way to wear a part. She cut the hair into layers to give a more voluminous look. What I mostly like about her is that she was approachable. I brought an oil that I wanted to use in my hair and most stylist would get offended if you ask them to use products from home or suggest a technique that you have found that works well on your hair. She didn’t take any offense and was very open to my feedback about my hair. I am completely satisfied with my hair my profile pic is my installation currently after 2 months of wear. My goal is to weave throughout this year so that I can grow my hair out. My experience with Jewel was wonderful she offered advice on products and regimens to help achieve my growth. She was very insightful, humorous, and gracious! If you are looking for a new stylist or protective style whatever your hair needs I would highly recommend Jewel!

Got a great cut from Jewel. Plus she knows what your hair needs and uses great products. I keep getting compliments. Friendly atmosphere. Definitely go to Jewel!

I moved to NYC in January, 2012 and searched high and low for an AWESOME hairstylist. Mind you, my standards are high because my mother is an AWESOME hairstylist. I accidentally tried this one woman and had a terrible choppy weave (what one might call … ratchet). I got a referral from a fellow New Yorker to check out Jewel. So I did and it was the best advice I’ve been given. Jewel is AWESOME. She completely fixed my weave, taking out about 1 pack of hair from my head, giving me layers and big Hollywood curls :) it was great. I also told her about my hair breaking easily with weaves and she assured me my hair would be healthy, thick, and longer (which I’m sure she got from my constant fake hair flipping of a long luxurious weave and dancing around like I’m a superstar). I trusted her and boy did she do what she’s promised and more. Since she’s taken care of my hair it’s grew longer and healthier. And I would also like to point out that I don’t know how to do my own hair (don’t judge, I’ve always had someone there to do it for me haha). But yes, come to Jewel because she’s AWESOME, really sweet, kind, nice, and lets you know exactly what she’s doing and asks you if you’re okay with it. She’s great, really a beautiful person inside and out :)

Jewel is just that a jewel. First impressions are everything to me. She was on time and ready to work. She is warm and knows what she is doing. She takes her time, but not where you will be with her allllll day. She cares about hair.
She is a versatile STYLIST! I think Im going to let her make me short for my bday.
If you want a STYLIST and not just a hair dresser check for her. Her prices are also competative, honestly thinks she should charge more for her level of skill. That goes to show she is about quality not $$$ like other places I have been.

A gem! Ladies if you are looking to get an amazing weave done at a reasonable price, this is also where you need to go. Her skills are amazing– the braids are not super tight but your weave can last over two months if you take care of it. When Jewel styles my hair I leave that salon feeling like a million bucks!
She is also very good with hair care… so your hair can be soft, silky and healthy within months.
Give her a try and I’ll bet you’ll become a loyal customer like me.

I came to Jewels for a weave for my birthday! I must say this chick has talent she was warm welcoming and very helpful with guiding me to her location. I’m a stylist that is always doing my own hair but since I found her I can go to her for a relaxing yet memorable experience.
