So i gave this spot more tries and they definitely did not disappoint. What lured me back was when i realize the ladies would season ur fish if u ask them to. The younger Spanish lady is very good w seasoning btw. But since i’ve watched her do it, i’ve mastered my own way of seasoning the fish and veggies. I come here very often for lunch, atleast once a wk now. It gets real busy in here so sometimes they do oversteam the fish. So i try to avoid all fish except basa cos it seems to taste the same regardless how long u cook it for! The ladies are nice. Jus need to give them time cos theyre very overwhelmed since this place do get real packed!

Well the fish here is really good and if your the type that don’t like to season your own fish they are more than willing to season it for you. I like the fact that they use I can’t believe it’s not butter instead of actually butter. I come here very often on my lunch break and I enjoy the food.

The ladies that work the counter are totally sweet and awesome. The price is real cheap, like you can get a meal for two for less than $ 12 and still have some left over. Fried scallops all day every day!

It’s finally time to check out what that giant FISH sign is all about. You decide to walk in. Inside is a small line of people waiting to order a delicious array of fresh seafood — steamed or fried right before you — seasoned how you choose. You weave your way past the folks by the door because you see it stretches further back. There are fridges stocked with fresh and frozen seafood, and at the far end of the table of crushed ice, all manner of whole fish. Snapper, salmon, tilapia, haddock, catfish, whiting, pollack, mackerel, and more and more and more. All for half the price you might pay for fresh fish at a normal grocer like Compare over on St. Mark’s in Crown Heights. Yes, these are great prices. Gustative memories of growing up on coastal Maine flood your mind and your stomach rumbles something fierce. But it gets even better. You select a four pound catfish(It’ll be between $ 1.50-$ 2/lb), mouth watering as you picture frying that sucker up in some flour, cornmeal, and spices with some fresh lemon squeezed over it. The fishmonger asks how you want it cut. Whoa! These guys will filet it up or chop it into steaks for you too. Hot damn. «Filet the bitch!» you say. And he whips that fish to the back table for some slicing and dicing. He wastes a bit more meat than you might have, but certainly saves you some time. A minute later you’re rung up and on your way. Best place for cheap, fresh, delicious seafood in the area. Period.

Idk why I’m sooo obsessed with Steamed Shrimp & Tilapia, but this is the best seafood spot besides Red Lobster. .. The prices are great and so is the customer service. . Lines are a bit long, but what do you expect when the food is good? Anyway very very good :)

*zombie walk* — Fried Catfish! Fried Catfish! When I discovered this place a few years ago I lost my mind… you mean you sell fish. but you also steam and fry it? And you have cat fish??? I’ve lived on the Caribbean side of BK too long to realize I just needed to get to Bed Stuy to get some good old catfish! The place is small, but there is always a line of people waiting to order fish. You can get it fried or steamed… you can also get fries. The only weird thing is that they use margarine and not butter and I see so many folks smear it on by the pound, defeating the purpose of their healthy steamed fish. The service is fast and friendly. I always make a point to get some fish when I’m in the neighborhood.

we finally found a fish place in the neighborhood! very reasonable prices for an entire meal and the fish does taste pretty fresh. the line is sometimes long and it does get a little confusing, but with a limited menu and the ability to mix your own seasoning for the boiled/steamed items, this is a nice place to try when you’re trying to satisfy a fish/shrimps craving.

Reasonable prices, the wait sometimes is crazy; burt the food here is good. The steam choices could be better. I prefer Longwood Fish Corp. on Church Ave. for my steam fish and they have a better variety of veggies. When I’m around here this is where I stop in for fried fish.

It’s AIGHT if you’re craving a steamed sea food dish and you happen to walk by this store which advertises Steamed Sea Food. But it’s nothing to take 2 trains for…

I buy my fresh fish from here often. It’s always good. I asked once and the guy said the salmon was wild caught. I hope so. But who really knows. either way, I get my whole fish and fillets here. I’ve never had the fried fish, but there’s always a line.

I have been on a mission lately with steamed food this is my second fish market that i have seen that steams food, now getting to the things that i like and dislike. 1. The Price is very good 12 clams for $ 6 is hard to beat plus there shrimp and fish prices are cheap also. 2. The selection of vegetables to mix with your seafood is limited, don’t expect okra and jalapeño peppers here! 3. Customer service is good but there is no one to tell you how things work, so I and another customer where lost in the terms of pricing and prep. 4. They don’t have melted butter and chunk garlic just hard butter and garlic powder, and they do make a difference in taste! All in all its cool but the shrimp where over cooked and the taste was kind of bland.

I’ve walked past this unassuming fish market several times before actually stepping in. Its approx. ½ block from the A/C Nostrand Avenue line. The front of the store is a little cramped and manned by two very nice ladies. They offer both fried and steamed seafood for takeout. You also have the option of seasoning the fish yourself before they fry it, which I love. The fried whiting sandwich was delicious. However, the steamed shrimp does tend to be a little overcooked. The steamed soft shelled craps are cheap, so you kind of get what you pay for. They also offer fresh fish by the pound towards the back of the store.
