All About You Beauty Salon

Love this place. I have been going to Desiree (blonde hair) for about 1.5 years. I walked in after seeing signs of new management, (I moved to Brooklyn 2 summers ago) because I needed a new go-​to salon. I really love D. I won’t go anywhere else to get my hair done! She’s great, really takes care of my hair and is very honest. Good prices.

I was recommended this salon by a friend of mine who got her hair styled for her birthday. I was impressed by the intricate style and was open to trying a new stylist. I had a gust of confidence and couldn’t pass up on the opportunity– I wanted to go short. I’ll admit I was pretty nervous because of my naturally curly hair, but to the rescue, comes All About You! And boy oh boy, my entire visit was all about me.
I came on a Sunday, around 12:30 and was the only client there. There was only one stylist working and she was open to my ideas about my wanting a short cut. I brought pictures so that helped. Very patient and attentive, even as a few women arrived after me, she never forgot I was there; never made me feel I was a hassle despite her being the only one working.
I had a double process done: I needed the red color in my hair lifted and a dark brown put in to even out my roots. While washing my hair, I asked what she was rinsing my hair with and she calmly answered, unlike some stylists who get easily annoyed at genuine curiosity. When it came time for my cut, she listened to what I wanted, took into consideration if I wanted to go shorter, etc. I felt confident she knew what she was doing. Never once did she criticize my artistic vision :)
Although I kept my eyes shut for the 30 minutes she cut, styled and blow dried my hair, when I opened my eyes and saw the wonderfully dramatic transformation in the mirror, I was sooo happy I took the chance in trying something new.
Only take back to my whole experience– I didn’t get the stylists’ name, but she’s the blonde haired woman with beautiful eyes.
