I have to say since the fire, then the rebuild, this place looks amazing. they did a great job keeping the same old feel while having a brand new bar. I hear a hi end bar food menu is coming also, looking forward to it. great place to watch sporting events with T.V.‘s everywhere.

So happy these guys have reopened. I brought my running club here last Monday and Billy was excited to have us and wonderfully accommodating. Beer is reasonably priced and there’s lots of room in the back. Food is coming soon but in the meantime they’re happy to let you order from the many takeout places in the area.

Another stop on the local bar tour of Kensington. This is a pretty good spot for the end of the night, with cheap beers and an old timey classic Brooklyn feel to it. $ 6 Stella’s, shot specials, and great people all around. We were here till around ¾ am, chilling and talking with old friends. A good neighborhood spot, but not one I would frequent a lot.

The place is slowly crawling back to its’ former glory and it looks great. These guys have put some hard work into getting back on their feet after that devastating fire last fall. A modern internet juke box and a few more televisions. The business hours, drink prices, bartenders and the diverse collection of regulars will continue to be the attractive feature for this«former» dive. Nice lipstick on a pig. Highly recommended.

RIP, they had a fire this week, the whole place is gone. Hope they build it back but you know how insurance and landlords are :(

I went here on a Saturday night as the first stop on a bar crawl in Ditmas. Cute dive bar with about 7 beers on tap, a full bar, and dart boards in the back. I’m sad to hear that they burned down this morning. I’m glad I was able to visit before the fire, and hope they are able to rebuild.

UPDATETOTHEUPDATE! The remodel/renovation/rebuild/whatever looks fantastic. It’s got all cleaned up, but kept its character. UPDATE: they’ve upgraded the beer selection. There’s a very nice variety now. Have another star. Make no mistake, this place is a dive. But sometimes you need a dark, dingy bar with a surly bartender, a couple crusty regulars in the corner, and some beer that tastes close enough to good. Apparently this is a positive review.

This is not a place that I expected to give a 4star review. A dive bar it is, but the people were very friendly. The layer of film you see is really a topcoat of charm. Cheapie drinks that serve your needs. Observe the regulars and newcomers. The huge booths are great for a group or 1 on 1 time. And who doesn’t want to top off a night of drinking with some good grub?! The Food Shack in the Back(it’s official name) lovingly puts together some good eats at the rear of the place. The spinach and artichoke dip was some if the best I’ve had. In life. Ever. And the nachos were fresh and tasty. Both dishes are made from scratch, so they took a while, but it was worth the wait. Our chef even came out to our table to get feedback. And this place delivers too! I’ll be going back here for sure, and likely getting more food and drinks for my tummy. Burger anyone???

Look, I gave this place 3 tries. But finally I’ve realized it’s just not going to work out. You might be tempted(like I was) to think that it’ll be that fun dive bar to grab a couple of drinks, but really it’s just a craphole for alcoholics and weirdos to drink all day. I’ve never seen anyone in there but the regulars and it feels kind of uncomfortable for the rest of us. Today was USA in the World Cup, and several of us asked — will you be putting the sound on? «Of course,» he said! But the bartender(Billy?) was very, profoundly drunk. So once the game started and we asked if the sound would switch over, his response was, «The sound will come on when it f***ing comes on. Do you understand?» This other guy was like, «But you said…» «Get the hell out!!» I mean, that was during the first couple of minutes during the World Cup, when a bunch of us were planning on hanging out for quite some time. Trust me, they don’t want outsiders there. It’s weird.

Love this place. It’s a classic bar… unlike the others in the hood. On its funkiest night, it still smells better than those new-age non-deodorant wearing hippies at Sycamore.

If you don’t expect too much in life, this is where you should go. Going on a Friday/Saturday night when everyone has been drinking for too long and should have went home two hours ago is the best time to go. Truthfully, there have been some nights that I don’t even know why they let me drink the amount that I did. For that, I love them. This little gem in the rough of flatbush is a dive that I love and cherish.

I stopped into 773 because it was just about the only place open on Christmas Eve. It seemed like an older drunker crowd, there were at least 3 people who needed help even walking. The bartender was nice enough and the draft selection was decent. I had a pint of Troegs Mad Elf which was only $ 7 and 11%. The mens bathroom doesn’t lock which is kind of shitty. It’s a bit brighter than I like for my dives but I would probably come back if everything else was shut again.

Old timers, conservative, creepy, kind of boring. But the juke box is the best in the neighborhood. Ask for Lenny Kenny. ALWAYS come with a group of friends.

This is your neighbourhood bar in the area. Variety of $ 3 beers, $ 2.50 Jameson shots, fried food from a slot in the wall at the back, jukebox and dartboard. They have an open mic night, a karaōke night and various other events if you’re so inclined. Perhaps my favourite thing about 773 though, is the advertisement over the urinal for the Archdiocese of Brooklyn — ‘Need a better habit? Go to mass.’ The crowd seems diverse and friendly — I was tapped on the shoulder and given the thumbs up for playing Van Morrison on the juke by a man slipping out the door for a smoke. Obligatory Irish American doodads flung up on the wall and also a TV that runs through photos of previous nights out at 773. Your other options in the area are a bar that doubles as a flower shop or a bar that doubles as a guitar shop. Shouldn’t this be an easy one?

Sometimes I just want to go to a dark, wet bar where nobody can see me spill beer all over myself. One star for ambiance, another for the gaggle of wonderful local weirdos that are always there and another because it’s seldom crowded and has a lot of seats. I guess I don’t have a lot of standards.

One night my friend and I went here and they played six songs back to back of Billy Joel, followed by Steely Dan. Going to this place is two/three stars really, it’s a fucking irish bar, plays mets, jets, giants, etc you get it and if not from New York or you’re a hipster, you are not going here except maybe ironically and you aren’t because Sycamore/Castello Plan/your friends in Park Slope/Bushwick/Wburg, 9 million other better bars in Brooklyn or Park Slope/Gowanus, yeah you just aren’t going to come here. But look man(the proverbial«you» in but look man). They play the best hits of the 70’s, the 80’s AND the 90’s. Beer is cold and on tap. I kind of say the regulars are worse here than at Denny’s, but that’s because Denny’s is old-school Brooklyn alcoholic and this is like… an Irish bar near an LIRR stop. Yeah, those clienteles are similar, you make a good case. Going in here reminded me of 100 different meh irish bars I went to and drove by and who cares else growing up on Strong Island(typo: Long Island, fuck outta here). I think they have cover bands play. It could be fun, I bet«A Matter of Trust» gets played and«Take Me Home Tonight» is an encore. I’m not being a smug dick, I know these things. «Comfortably Numb» if the band knows it and the band members are going through some depressing times.

Disclaimer: I’m usually hammered by the time I set foot in this establishment. That said, Billy the bartender really knows how to take one’s drunkenness to all new levels. I associate 773 with being sloppy wasted — but it’s okay, sometimes you just need a good blackout every now and again. There’s a pretty good jukebox(but PLEASE, don’t play more than one or two Billy Joel songs at a time), and the crowd is entertaining(which probably has more to do with my mental state than anything else). The Sycamore crowd often comes here once that bar shuts down, so you have an interesting mix of boozy senior citizens and annoying early-20something hipsters. But I can’t knock 773 too much. It doesn’t claim to be anything more than what it is: a not-so-classy dive that’s great for a nightcap or 10.(Case-in-point: I don’t even remember whether or not the bar has a TV.)

I love dive bars but didn’t like the smell of this place. Somewhat musty and haunted by the memory of thousands of smokers.

This is kinda the best bar ever. I almost don’t want to Unilocal it because I don’t want too many people to know about it. Billy the bartender is awesome and hilarious. We wanted a beer tower but he was out of everything on tap so he gave us buckets of Buds with a round of 4 shots for $ 20 total. Plus he bought us at least a round or two. I’m sure this isn’t the norm but he rules. There’s a good chance they’ll be out of whatever you want, but if you walk in with no expectations and just want to have a good time for little money and want to escape the usual NYC pretentiousness, this bar is awesome. I haven’t eaten the food yet, but I’ve heard good things. TVs are small and too high but they show games, I can’t complain.
