Karina Mattei should be your only choice for jewelry, period.
When the sapphire engagement ring my fiancé proposed with needed a little more customization to make it fit my finger and better reflect my style and personality, Karina was on the case. She was happy to work with our existing (stunning) sapphire stone, and even bought the metal from the old band off of us and applied that as a credit to our order. She consulted with both of us on what we were looking for, first together and then just with my fiancé so the final result would be a bit of a surprise to me, and what really impressed me is that she was able to accurately read me right away (based on my existing jewelry?) and know what kind of ring styles would be right for me. Working with her was the right balance of listening to our preferences and suggesting what she as a professional thought could work best, and she had tons of example rings and picture books to help illustrate what was possible, which I found really helpful (it’s easier to pick an existing design to begin with and tweak it from there, rather than randomly coming up with a brand-​new design altogether– it seems like that’s how she prefers to work as well, IMO). She was very communicative and professional throughout the process too, providing an accurate timeline at the outset and setting a pick-​up date with us via email. The final product is absolutely perfect, well-​made, not unreasonably priced, stunning, not unique, and so me. I don’t even think I would have even known it was my style, if I were just shopping around on my own– Karina is not only a great craftswoman, but she is spot on at reading her customers’ style, so don’t hesitate to put your trust in her.
We recently returned to her for our wedding bands, and as always, it was a delight to work with her. I was easy because I chose the band that matched the design of my engagement ring, whereas my fiancé who knows nothing about rings needed a bit more guidance, which Karina was happy to provide. He first picked a band they had to call the company about and found out it was no longer in production, so she suggested a close facsimile which he selected. We just picked up our final bands yesterday, and they look and fit perfectly, just as expected (will post some pics later for reference).
I’m not really a jewelry person– I wear the same casual Etsy necklace and sterling silver rings every day and only tend to change up my (non-​precious) earrings. So this was really my first foray into ‘real’ jewelry (and wedding rings are a good excuse for it!), not to mention custom jewelry, and I’m so glad it was with Karina because we were really in good hands. But even if you already know your princess cut from your eternity band and have a specific idea of what you want, Karina should be your go-​to as well. I can’t recommend her enough– don’t hesitate to give her your business.

Went to Karina & Mary a while back for an engagement ring. They were exceptionally helpful when I brought in a family stone to use, and extremely patient as I browsed through all the styles they offer.
After a LONG time looking we decided on one, and they turned it around as quickly as I could’ve hoped. It was under cost, looked even more beautiful than the pictures we’d been looking at (helps when you have the real thing in your hand!), and best of all, my fiancée LOVED it.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough. They resized the ring once my fiancée tried it on, offered cleaning tips, and made themselves available whenever I had questions. Do yourself a favor and — at the very least — stop by the shop to see what they can do for you. You won’t be disappointed.

Karina did an excellent job walking me through the process of designing and purchasing an engagement ring. After visiting some other similar businesses, I realized that not only was she professional, but she was very reasonably priced.

I’ve been shopping at Karina’s gallery for more than 15 years and love every ring she’s ever made for me! I’ve purchased rings for myself, my family and special friends. And there are so many other creative items to check out and choose from. Each time I see something I never noticed before. Whenever I’ve had a ring made, it’s been a neat creative experience working with Karina to sort out gemstone color combinations, considering ring shapes and designs, looking through her book of creations to spark my thinking, and come up with a plan. Each piece she’s made me has a special energy and personality and reminds me of the positive experience I had collaborating with her on its development. In the shop are also a number of beautiful encaustic paintings created by Karina’s sister Mary, also an accomplished artist. The paintings’ colors and textures bring additional light and creative energy to the gallery, and I am lucky to have a few of them enlivening my home. This is a great place.

My fiancée and I just love the engagement and wedding rings we had designed by Karina. We are both very particular and Katie and Karina were vary patient with us as we looked through the ring designs, analyzed drawings Karina made just for us, and hemmed and hawed over our decisions. We came out with gorgeous engagement and wedding rings.
Every time we go to Mattei we just love the jewelry, artwork, and pottery there. We foresee many future anniversary presents coming from Mattei Galleria in the future!

Karina worked with me and my fiancé to re-​set the stones in my engagement ring. I’ll admit it – I’m super picky about jewelry, and I expected this process to be very stressful and difficult. Man, was I wrong – every little detail was considered, and Karina made a ring that is just about downright perfect. I don’t say that lightly.
Karina was amazing at synthesizing all our nebulous ideas into real designs, and so kind throughout the whole process. She was very understanding and flexible, even making a second wax model after the first design ended up weird after too many idea-​changes – truly bending over backwards to make sure we had a ring we loved.
She was also very open to working within our budget and very down-​to-​earth about the whole process – such a far cry from other less-​personal jewelers we encountered!
Her no-​nonsense attitude combined with a sweet sense of humor made this process a real joy. And that’s not to mention the GORGEOUS ring on my finger! The ring she made is simply stunning – something unique and different, with just the right combination of timeless classic and funky. I’ve gotten tons of compliments about it, and it’s a joy to see this piece of art on my hand each day.
If you want an incredible piece of jewelry at a reasonable price and an experience that leaves you feeling respected, listened-​to, and happy, I highly recommend Karina.

Karina Mattei has FABULOUS jewelry. The pieces are unique & wearable. I only wish I had known about her before my engagement ring had been made. It could have been that much better ;)

This spot has some very interesting stuff. Most of the items are very reasonably priced. I loved the necklaces/​bracelets made out of what seemed to be rubber, but I was worried I’d break them, so I chose some more durable (wood) earrings.
