Sarah W is right, this place is a treasure. I’ve seen dragonflies, damselflies, a turtle, a blue heron(that was cool) and a gorgeous bright orange bird along with the usually squirrels and sparrows. It is a really cool find among the urban setting. Avoid as dusk — lots of mosquitoes. There is a runoff from somewhere that is polluting the pond but hopefully they are on top of that. I would also suggest avoiding in the evening unless you are in a largish group. We ran across a small group of 20 somethings doing drugs. It made me sad(and nervous) but reminded me you can never be too careful.

I hate to draw attention to this little spot… but I was delighted to find this little area behind our old apartment when I lived on Beacon! It’s an amazing little treasure right in the middle of an urban location. I’m looking forward to visiting it soon and taking my little nephews to see how many creepy crawlies we can find! It’s a treasure.

I just happened upon this little park a few days ago and it’s adorable! it is just across from the sports fields on armory street near beacon and it’s open dawn to dusk and comprises both natural paths and boardwalks over a swampy little pond. there’s also a formal garden with some benches at the entrance and the coolest little gazebo deep in the middle of the park. it only takes maybe 15 minutes to walk through the whole thing, but man, it is beautiful and quiet and has benches in shady spots where you can snuggle with your significant other.
