Why? Why? Are your prices so high? You recently moved, a pleasant goodbye. The place ‘cross the street was better indeed As are most of the places I’ve tried.

Nice selection of wines and spirits. The staff is is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable when helping us select some wines for a Cape BBQ that we were invited to – I only wish they had more wines to choose from.

Rude staff that knows next to nothing about wine, crappy selection. I would much rather go to any of the multiple other liquor/wine shops in the area instead of ever returning here. Total waste of time.

For a small sized wine store they have a great slection of wines, liquors, and beers. The store feels welcoming with it’s bright lights and expansive curved glass storefront. The store is clean and is well organized. What I appreciate most here is their selection of chilled whites. Their price points for wines has a wide range, which is even reflected in their chilled ones. They have a sales rack so you can a bottle of something new that is normally pricey without feeling guilty now. They also have sales the first Thursday of the month. They are a bit more expensive than other stores in the area(esp Trader Joes) but I think that their service, selection, and location makes it worth it.

Imagine that. You ask the clerk if they can find out if you can order something for you, and they actually call you back! Major points for that one. The staff here is very friendly and curteous, and knowledgeable abouot the wines they have in stock. Yes, the selection is rather limited, but seeing that Trader Joe’s is right accross the street, what more could you ask for?

Considering this store is particularly oriented to wine, I expected a little more from GPS Wine & Spirits. Their selection is good, and the store is laid out well. But I didn’t find the staff particularly helpful or knowledgeable. There was only one person working at the time, which may have been the issue. But my boyfriend and I were the only ones in the store and obviously trying to compare some white wines. When we asked for suggestions on a very dry Chardonnay(to go along with the dinner we planned to make), the person working there didn’t have much in the way of suggestion. The wine we did buy was very good, but I would have liked a little more help on a good pairing. Considering the proximity of Trader Joe’s and other liquor stores, I probably won’t make GPS a particular stop.

This is basically a good place to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner if you’ve just been shopping in Coolidge Corner. Their wine selection is pretty good. Their selection of beer and liquor isn’t great, though, and I’ve noticed it’s a bit more expensive than other liquor stores in the area. In general, GPS liquors is good in a pinch, but not worth going out of your way for.

I loved Best Cellars and I miss it. Obviously I don’t visit this store as often as I used to, as I didn’t even notice it was no longer Best Cellars until a few weeks ago, but I definitely miss their system of finding a wine. However, GPS isn’t THAT different… Their wines are ordered by region or type(red or white), but the regions sort of melt into each other(I was looking under the Australia/New Zealand sign and everything for a few rows was from Chile!). The employees are very friendly and fairly knowledgeable — one knew a lot, the other didn’t — but the wines are expensive considering it’s 2 minutes away from Trader Joe’s, where you can get good wine for much cheaper. I still bought a bottle, but after I left, I kicked myself for not getting it at TJs!

I work right next to this place and I always see free tastings of one thing or another but because I work next to this place I am never able to actually try anything. BUT I was in the mood for some red wine. I’m trying to get more into the red wines and I practically know nothing about what wine goes to what. I had this fruit buffet to go to after work and they directed me to the right wine pairing. A Syrah, which I have never tried before. They are a very friendly knowledgable staff and I will certainly come back here for my next«What would work well with this» question.
