I was craving Thai food when we were on our last day in Boston and we found this place near where we were staying. The place is packed! We didn’t have a problem parking on the streets but it was raining and we came around 8PM. The place was still packed when we arrived though! The staff was wonderful and super nice to us which made our experience better. I ordered the dinner special which had several small sides and a Tom Yum soup. I had some kind of chicken curry that came along with the dish. For the amount of food I got, the price was worth it! I noticed that many restaurants increase the price for dinner but I was surprised that the dinner was nearly the same price. I enjoyed my entrée very much! In addition, I had a lychee drink which was good too! Overall, I really enjoyed my time here. The menu is quite extensive so I am sure you will be able to find something you’ll like. Come check out this place!

Nice Thai food. Not fast food style. The beef stew I picked was really a fantastic choice. The beef is so soft that it melts right away in the mouth. The sweet sauce comes with a little sour taste which increases my appetite. They also have many choices for beverages. My favorite drink is Thai ice tea, but coconut juice is worthy to try as well. One disappointing thing is the potato in my beef stew is kind of hard and is not as well-cooked as the beef.

Maybe we came in too early — my husband and I came here to have dinner at 5:30 only because we had plans after. I ordered the Indonesian fried rice with crispy chicken and it was very savory and delicious! The flavors were just right. It was perfect. It was a good portion too. My husband ordered fish and we both felt like it wasn’t seasoned right. It was lacking pizzaz. We ordered a taro bubble tea too — that one I don’t recommend. It was like milk slush with soft seeds. The boba wasn’t fully cooked and I couldn’t taste the taro flavor at all. Had to ask for sugar just to drink the drink. Lastly, the service was really slow and the servers seemed like they wanted to hang out with each other more than pay attention to us. Sorry if that’s too blunt.(But, again, maybe we came too early?)

AMAZING Thai food. One of the best I’ve ever had(and that’s saying something — I’ve been to dozens of Thai restaurants). I either pick up or have it delivered depending on if I want to walk or not haha. It’s pretty close and delivery is fast for me. I got the drunken noodles and pad Thai, both vegetarian with tofu. I also enjoy it without the tofu and just the vegetarian, because sometimes their tofu can get a bit greasy since it’s fried, I think. But there are many other options for meat if you’re not a vegetarian. Definitely would recommend all the noodle dishes!

My family loves coming to Dok bua. If we’re ever around the area we always have to stop in for a bite. I would deff recommend the Thai food here. The tom yum sea food hot pot soup is delicious! It’s hard to come by authentic made Thai food and I would know since I am Thai. The flavors are on point. I also love the pad si ew(stir fry flat rice noodle with your choice of meat) and pad gra pow(stir fry spicy meat with green beans, veggies and on the side white rice).that’s just some of the many favorite foods there. After lunch or dinner you must try some of the dessert that they have to offer like the mango and sweet rice or the sweet ice slush type dessert with your choice of fruit. If your ever around the area stop by, my family highly recommends it. Not only is the food great but the costumer service is awesome. They are very polite and it makes the experience all the more pleasant.

I love this place, I will say it’s my favorite Thai place. Prices are fair, servers are incredibly warm and friendly. Service is fast and the food is fantastic– they offer loads of vegetarian options, my favorites being the tofu cashew dish, the special house tofu(actually seitan) and the eggplant. My only complaint is that they allow BYOB. From my experiences, it’s usually brought in mass quantities by very early 20-somethings who don’t at all know how to behave in public. C’mon guys, the servers are sweethearts and are not getting paid nearly enough to put up with your antics. Go anytime but a Friday or Saturday night if you want a quiet dinner out, or if you are at all interested in being able to hold a conversation with your date.

I am not Thai but I have had a lot of Thai food. Compared to other places, I would say this is probably the most authentic. My friends and I order from here a lot for takeout. It’s so delicious! I usually get the pad see ew dinner special. $ 11 and you get your entrée, dumplings, rice(they don’t need to give this), tom yum soup, and 3 egg rolls. It’s A LOTOFFOOD. The other day, I went to order there and waited to take it out(only took less than 10 minutes) and they were super nice. The restaurant is cute too. Two thumbs up! Oh, I also got this shrimp salad(Pla-Goong Salad) from there too another time. That is wicked spicy. It’s good but it’s REALLY spicy. I usually like spicy but beware! They give a good amount of shrimp as well.

I was excited when I saw this place looked to be an authentic Thai restaurant — and by that I don’t mean low lighting, mini waterfalls, and buddhas everywhere. Dok Bua looks like a place that normal Thai people would go to in Thailand: bright colors, somewhat tacky decorations, and Thai pop music playing. Additionally, to get to the bathrooms, you have to pass through a storage area and part of the kitchen. This is all to say that I had high expectations for delicious, authentic Thai food. My boyfriend and I both ordered the dinner special, which for just $ 11(extra for certain meat choices) comes with soup, egg rolls, dumplings, and an entrée. Unfortunately, we found our food to be pretty mediocre. The only dish that got us excited was the pad see ew. Even though we weren’t crazy about the food, the prices are very reasonable and the servers are incredibly nice, so I still give Dok Bua 4 stars.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of Boston! I used to frequent this place every week or every other week when I was in college. The food is worthy of 5-stars and packed with flavors. The Pad Thai is seasoned perfectly with the right amount of sauce and perfect noodle texture. My all-time favorite is R.12 Fried Rice topped with Moo-Yang Pork(grilled pork marinated in Thai herbs) and a fried egg. The curry dishes have a nice spicy kick and a good blend of coconut and curry. Everything on the menu is delicious; I’ve never had a bad experience here. If you’re unsure what the dish is based on the name, their menu has pictures! The service is excellent. You’re greeted with smiles upon entry and you never have to wait long for service or attention. I love Dok Bua and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic, great tasting Thai meal.

Love the drunken noodles here, but the two curries that I’ve tried(Penang and massaman) have been very mediocre. I also tried the«lovely little thing» appetizer sampler once and was pretty happy with it — my favorites were the golden bags, fried spring rolls, and crab rangoons. Delivery is pretty quick.

Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat for dinner on a week night. There was a decent amount of patrons, but we were able to be seated right away. To start off, we decided to get an order of the pork dumplings pan-fried. This came with 6 dumplings that were packed full of meat and veggies. There were very good and were even better when paired with the dipping sauce. For our main meal, we decided to split an order of the chicken pad thai and the green curry with chicken. The pad thai was actually very good – one of the better ones I have tried recently. It didn’t have a ton of veggies or chicken in it, but the flavors were all there and the portion size was decent. The green curry was a little more watery than I am used to, but it was packed full of ingredients and was just the right level of spice for me – it definitely cleared the sinuses. Overall, this place serves up some large portions at reasonable prices and it all comes out very quickly. The service is friendly and attentive and the food was very tasty – definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

While I usually just order delivery from Dok Bua(shout out to Eat24!), I think I would still find myself a regular even if they didn’t have that option. The staff and servers are always polite when I speak to them on the phone — sometimes even calling me to make sure that everything in the online order is correct — the prices are decent, and the food is so bomb! Favorites include their pad thai, drunken noodle, and their panang curry. And you can’t forget dessert! Their mango sticky rice makes me feel like I’m back in the sweltering humidity of Bangkok munching on the gooey, syrupy treat served streetside. Seriously, you’re missing out on some of Beantown’s finest Thai food if you haven’t paid Dok Bua a visit yet.

I am so impressed with this restaurant’s flexibility! I was planning on having roughly 15 people over and everyone decided on Thai food with a roughly $ 120 budget. My goal was to have 4 dishes(shrimp pad Thai, beef drunken noodles, veggie curry and veggie egg rolls). So I called several Thai restaurants near me and all of them were so expensive! Averaging $ 45 per tray and unwilling to downsize just so that we can get more variety… So I was started losing hope… Until I called this place! The lady(Soon(?)) was so helpful, patient, and understanding. she helped me work out the pricing. I ended up requesting her to cut the spring rolls in half and she was more than happy to oblige I even heard her convincing the manager about the details.(I don’t understand Thai so this is last part is a little subjective. Lol) In the end I even had money left over for delivery and tip! Highly recommend this place if you’re having friends over /looking for great food

It’s been ages since I last came here. Pre-Yelp days, I used to go with a bunch of friends for a fun dinner out that didn’t break the wallet. It used to have like a tiki hut décor inside and the food was pretty good. Perhaps my expectations were too high my last visit but it was just… okay. I went for beef red curry dinner special. It came with tom yum soup, a couple of fried dumplings and a few small egg rolls. The soup was just lukewarm but had the tangy flavor you want from a tom yum soup. The appetizers came cold and were predictably bland. Fortunately, the curry was quite good, as I liked the heat and flavor. However, similarly to other foods, it was a little cold. The evening was really warm and humid, which made the temperature of the food more tolerable. The décor seems more grimy than my prior visits as I’m sure age hasn’t been kind to the restaurant. I’d still come here for Thai food but I’ll temper my expectations.

After coming here a few times, think it’s fair to make the assumption… if you’re ordering the dinner combo plates — then you’re getting a good value. Otherwise — you’re overpaying for okay Thai food. We ordered the following: — Pad thai with chicken and shrimp — a bit on the sweeter side — Chicken Keow-Wan Curry — with bamboo shoots and eggplant — the curry dish was a bit mild in flavor — Seafood special — great flavors but too much onions. Think it should be called onion special instead =P I’ll give them props for getting all the dishes out in lightning speed and service was prompt.

Probably one of my go to Thai places! I love it. And also it’s right down the street from me. I always get the Pad Thai and the Indonesian fried rice. So good. The Indonesian fried rice with the perfectly cooked egg on top that is nice and runny. The crispy fried chicken on top is equally delicious! Pad Thai is great and always a staple. I’ve also had the lettuce wraps here, which are on point. And also the crab rangoons– probably one of the better crab rangoons I’ve had compared to anything else. Has a lot of filling in it and is not all crispy wrapping. I definitely recommend this place. Well priced and the staff are super friendly. Eat at the restaurant and it’s BYOB. Take it home and feast by yourself :) they are generous with their portions so you will definitely be taking home food.

Is it just me, or are the signs of a good thai restaurant correlated with its décor — bright orange and lime green are a must and are the colors you’ll actually find in most establishments in Thailand. The menu is robust, several pages of pictures, so you get a fairly good idea of what the dish is. This is far better than any standard thai restaurant that focuses only on pad thai-like dishes. We enjoyed the pad kee mao(thick rice noodles — the thai basil and slight heat really make the dish), moo yang w/thai fried rice(marinated bbq pork — balance of sweet and savory, w/fried egg) and Kai Yang(crispy chicken with sticky rice; not too unique but executed well). I’d come here any day to satisfy a thai food craving.

Dok Bua. First, let me begin by saying that it was a cool day in Brookline as I walked up Harvard ave lo it must be at least 13 years ago. I spotted what at the time was a small Asian market with a couple of high tops serving daily specials. The specials were soo cheap, but sooo good. I would frequent for the Drunken Noodles, my go-to dish. and it is AWESOME! Now back to the present day, and although the market is gone, slowly overtaken by the restaurant the food is still ABSOLUTELY amazing! If you have not tried Dok Bua, I insist that you do. If you have then you are singing a resounding HELLYES with me when I say. GOTHERE! NOW! They are probably open, unless it is late, late and then, go to bed. You have to get up early to make the trip to Dok Bua for their lunch specials. Still ample, pleasant and oh, so very affordable.

How disappointing! Pad thai is my favorite food ever and I was hoping to discover a new gem in Dok Bua. I’ve passed by to see this place packed so many times and the Unilocal photos & reviews looked great. I get tofu pad thai as I don’t eat shrimp/chicken which unfortunately means that sometimes, restaurants will give me the«veggie» pad thai with the addition of weird vegetables that do NOT belong! Despite ordering the regular pad thai and asking to swap the shrimp for tofu, I ended up getting a vegetable version which included carrots, peas and green beans. I love these veggies but they don’t belong in pad thai! On top of the weird veggies, the dish itself just wasn’t great. The noodles were a tad undercooked and the flavor was super bland. I wanted more tamarind paste in the sauce– it was missing that sour touch. I also asked for«hot» which is the highest heat level you can request when ordering online + extra scallions and neither of these requests were honored(no spice whatsoever). I also ordered the fried cod app, which they were out of, so I went w/the veggie dumplings which were wimpy and bland. The fresh rolls though were quite good and the peanut sauce was especially good compared to others I’ve had. Though I regrettably give 2 stars to Dok Bua, I WOULD re-try this place and see how their curries are since it’s really their pad thai that was the major disappointment. Normally, I wouldn’t give such low stars on the basis of 1 dish, but it being a staple of a Thai restaurant, I think it fair. Oh well. Khao Sarn still reigns as king!
