The Lamb curry was very good. Nan was fresh, but a bit charred. Got it to go but they didn’t pack utensils. I didn’t realize until I was already back to my hotel. Friendly-ish service. I’d go again in a pinch.

The boyfriend and I stopped by on Sunday morning after catching a flick at the Coolidge Corner theatre. We saw there was a buffet, and being as to how I’m selective about the Indian food I may try this was a safe choice. You have a decent amount of choices: you can grab mint chicken, chicken masala, chickpea salad, rice, honey balls, rice pudding dessert(not familiar with the proper names), just be aware that all of the only meats they feature for the buffet is chicken. You can ask for naan bread as a part of the meal and they will come out to your table hot and ready. The sauces are more on the mild side, most likely to appeal to the people not too fond of curry. As always, you can grab as much as you want or how little you want, and for about $ 15 it’s definitely worth the price.

I am an Indian and probably worst Indian food I have eaten in Boston area. I went in for a buffet on weekend and below are the details — * vegetables not tasty at all * there were 3 varieties if chicken one of them was chicken and broccoli(needless to say not good at all) * tandoori chicken was underdone and lacked seasoning I won’t repeat(at least for buffets)

Had been for a lunch buffet over the weekend, i regret having meal at curry house. It was worst. Just 4 choices of nonveg and veg dishes. Most of the dishes were odd tasting, no balance of spice. Being Indian, I could understand how tasteless these Indian dishes they were. Who adds broccoli to chicken Patiala? Chicken tikka tasted more like butter chicken. They need new chefs. To top it off, they didn’t accept the 10% coupon, stating they don’t accept this for buffet which was not mentioned in the offer. Just 1 suggestion, avoid. I’m rating 1* coz I can’t rate less than this.

I have ordered 5 chicken Biryanis and 1 veg Biryani on grubhub online. Not only was the taste of the Biryani sucked, 5 of them were packed in one big box. When I called the restaurant to ask about this, he was rude and told that it had to be mentioned to be delivered in different boxes. They were reluctant to take the delivery back. Also, the Raita that was served with all the six biryanis was in a small bowl. Overall, I had an extremely bad experience with this place and suggest anyone I know to never order from here.

Ordered pani puri n several other stuff, ordered in first time, delivery, first bite n ewwwww!!! Bad oil, stale smell. Being an Indian and a good cook, I hardly judge Indian restaurant on being bang on right with spices or taste but STALE Food!!! Nope, that doesn’t go down. Also don’t have south Indian food with north indian if you can’t do justice with them both. Flavourless sambar n chilli chicken tasted more like kadhai chicken.

The lunch buffet was good. Not the best I’ve had in the area but fair for $ 10. The service was good too. The only reason for the missing star is the fact that papard was not included in the buffet, which is a must.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. It is casual cafeteria style, but the food is always delicious and fresh. The breads are prepared to order and are excellent. The atmosphere is much nicer than in a typical cafeteria restaurant – nice bright colors and Indian decorations. The staff is very friendly. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, which I think is better than at many of the sit down Indian restaurants in Boston that I have tried. I am at a loss to understand why it is not more highly rated on Unilocal

About a month ago, I opened my phone to a very upsetting message. Curry House no longer delivers to my area. I’m not sure if it was the restaurant or Foodler but we are very sad to lose our weekly Indian takeout after spending so long looking for a good one. Curry House, you will be missed!

Food is fine but not great. Overpriced and the menu is poorly designed/explained. Portions are not properly explained for combos versus entrees. Will not be back

Wow went here for lunch buffet. It was meh. They didn’t have much variety– 4 different types of chicken, the saag paneer was odd tasting, the naan was too charred. To top it off, they refused to accept the Unilocal 10% checkin offer bc it was a buffet! That is not stipulated on the coupon; they should have honored it. Anyhow Unilocalers, you guys warned me by the barely average rating but my husband was insistent that it was worth trying. Won’t make that mistake again

Very disappointed with their staff and serving policies. I’ve been going to Curry House about once or twice a month for almost five years. The food has always been good. The samosa chaat, naan and vegetable korma are great. But I’ve never liked the service. And after today, I won’t be going back. As I mentioned, I go there on a regular basis so you would think they would now recognize me(five years later) and say hello or at least smile. But the woman that usually works the food counter has never acknowledge my regular patronage. She always seems bitter or annoyed and mumbles so most customers can’t understand her. The manager only sometimes says hello. Only the guy that cooks the Naan bread smiles, nods his head in a friendly recognition. Today, I ordered the large vegetable korma and the woman asked me if I wanted extra rice. I said, if I order a large dish, doesn’t it come with a large rice? She said no, all dishes come with the small rice. I realized then that that was why I’m always short on rice — it never occurred to me they were cheap on the rice. I argued with the woman and told that that was silly. If I’m sharing the large entrée, then we both will need rice to go with it. A small rice will not be enough. She said I could order extra rice. I was not able to persuade her to change the policy. I told her that was ridiculous and that they would be losing a regular customer and that I would not be coming back if that was their policy. She repeated I could buy more rice or could talk to the manager who wasn’t there. I can’t imagine that the extra rice would cost them more than five cents for which they would charge me an extra few dollars. I don’t know how much, but it was the principle of not getting a large rice with a large entrée. They saved five cents but lost the order and a customer as I walked out. For me, this was the last straw. I had put up with the lack of customer recognition, lack of a friendly smile or even a hello. But I also had been baffled watching them fill a take out container but then remove ½ a spoon of the entrée. It wasn’t that it was going to overflow or the lid wouldn’t shut, but the server decided she was giving me too much. Another case of penny wise and pound foolish. My final grip — when I check out, they put the order into a small paper bag. If it is a large order, I need a plastic bag to carry it or the paper bag will break.(I know the environmentalists will tell me to take my own bag, that is another argument). To open the plastic bag, they wet their fingers by sticking them into the ice bin on the counter top that is cooling the drinks. I know that ice isn’t used in drinks, but I find that rather disturbing. They should never be sticking their fingers into the ice bin has food /drinks in it. The food is really good. But the service leaves a LOT to be desired.

Since there are a number of comparisons on Unilocal with the quite nearby Rani, I went there after my lunch to look at their buffet. The décor is certainly more elegant, but then it would be difficult for it to be less so. The Rami buffet looked very sparse, with perhaps only seven serving trays. I’d say this is a somewhat standard Indian buffet, but on the plus side of the middle of the range. The Naan is cooked for you when you get your first plate of food. When I first tried the Chicken Tikka Masala I was amazed at how tender and moist the chicken was — it clearly had not been pre-cooked in a tandoor. I know some people trash India Quality, but I am firmly devoted to their rich and flavorful Masala sauce, and that at Curry House didn’t come close, although the chicken was much better — if non-traditionally prepared. My first serving of Pakoras were quite good, but the second round was quite heavy and dense. I don’t know if they were actually from the same batch and had just sat out for too long, but the initial pair had definitely seemed much lighter. The vegetable korma was fine, although the sauce was on the soupy side. I have yet to find a buffet with good Tandoori Chicken, and this place was no different. I can only think that it’s a combination of the cooking method and then sitting out on a buffet line. Also that the breast is the only piece that would be able to retain moisture through tandoor cooking, and obviously no one will cook breast pieces for a buffet. The Raita was excellent, with more additives then I’m used to seeing, while the kheer was only average.

I had ducked my head inside one day to grab a menu and it sure smelled great in there! When I finally went it wasn’t the best. I was not expecting a buffet style and being that it was 30 minutes before closing time when we went in there I think it wasn’t so fresh. It still tasted pretty decent… but both of us experienced similar digestive issues. The food just sat there in a bad way. On top of that, I realized that they completely overcharged me by $ 5 or so. With other Indian options nearby, I won’t return.

I think I finally found my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston/Brookline, sadly just a few months before I will be leaving :( Came in for dinner with a friend one night, and loved it so much that I just had to order delivery from them the next week. Both times I got the Kadai Paneer with naan. Man, their naan was delicious!!! The perfect balance of crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Unfortunately it gets a little soggy when they wrap it up in aluminium foil for delivery, so I would recommend sticking to rice if you get it delivered. The kadai was so flavorful, I could eat it everyday! And the portions were large enough for me to have leftovers the next day :) I did see someone comment on the mango lassi leaking in the bag when it got delivered… happened to me too, but just a little bit. I might recommend keeping the beverages outside of the bags during delivery(I’m assuming the car has a cupholder? And if there are multiple drinks going out at the same time, maybe you could just keep a few of those cardboard cupholders in the car) I will definitely be coming back and hopefully try some of their other vegetarian dishes(though I do love my kadai…).

Came here for the lunch buffet after a work out at Pure Bare. This place is very conveniently located in Cleveland circle. What a bargain! 10 $ for all you can eat Indian food. They had the classics– chicken tiki Marsala(SOGOOD!), vegetable curry(meh), and spinach paneer. It also comes with rice and naan The service was also very good! Attentive and friendly. I always take note when my water glass is empty and they kept it full! In the end, it’s nothing special but a great bang for your buck which is what a college student like myself is looking for, so I’ll be back!

I am happy with the buffet. It has great variety of South indian non vegetarian dishes. But I am hot happy with the quantity of the ala kart. The dishes r very less in quantity. I mean if u serve great food at least make sure u give enough. It serves great quality for the price but I am really disappointed with the quantity when compared to other Indian restaurant in Boston city. But if u guys eat less but want great quality this is the best South indian restaurant in this city.

I should start by saying I’m very biased as I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and absolutely love it. It’s perfect in every way but one! You can’t get Nan AND rice! Seriously! Why do Indian places limit you to one OR the other in their combos??? If I’m eating Indian food, I want both! This is how I eat Indian food here: –Vegetable Samosas as an appetizer. They are 2 samosas per order –OR Papadam if I’m less hungry(never the case) –OR soup when it’s super cold out. I’ve tried everything here, and my fave dishes continue to be: –Saag Paneer –Chicken Tikka Masala –Chicken Saag –Lamb Korma –Shrimp Vindaloo –Seekh Kabob –Lamb Biryani I love spicy, and as chemistry seems to be right in saying«acid + base = salt + water» seems necessary to order a sweet lassi to cancel out that awesomely burning feeling of spicy Indian food :) Best part about coming here? They have every nan flavor my heart desires and each time, they tell me how to pair it best with the food I’ve ordered. Yesterday they told me to get Peshawari Nan and other times, it’s been suggested I get Keema Nan. Overall, excellent customer service!!! Grab your food, grab your water(free!) and sit at a table and enjoy deliciousness for however long your tummy can take :) Transportation: Coolidge corner. I’m afraid it’s green line dependent, C line Buses: multiple Parking: yes, across the street. Free after 8pm

This was my first time experiencing Indian food, and it was great! I came here for the lunch buffet with a couple of friends and was very pleased with the selection that was offered. Since I had never tried Indian food before, I obviously didn’t know what I liked, but the Curry House offered such a wide variety of dishes that I was able to try a bit of everything!

Now I’ve had a couple days now to think about this one and I’m still not sure what to give them. We spontaneously went here, which we NEVER do when it comes to eating out. We go out very infrequently, so when we do, I make sure the restaurant is legit and not out of our price range. We wanted to try some of the Indian food around Coolidge corner though and the prices on the menu outside brought us in to eat here. However, I didn’t realize until after i ordered that they left the lunch menu outside and my vegetarian entrée was $ 13. Now for dinner this ain’t terrible, but I never appreciate it when restaurants make the vegetarian meals as expensive as the meet dishes(they were the exact same price). They actually got our order wrong and charged me for something I ordered, but then said I didn’t want. However, this was a language barrier problem I think and I wasn’t about to have them take it out of the waiters salary when I should have clarified further. The environment was really weird. It reminded me of a cafeteria and just doesn’t seen to match their prices. There’s no waiter service and you go up to order your food. You grab your own silverware and out it away. All very strange for $ 13 entrees. But here’s the twist-the food was actually delicious… all of it! I couldn’t believe how good it was considering their presentation of it and the restaurant as a whole. The quality of the food simply doesn’t match the environment and style of this restaurant. The food was definitely 4 stars-without question. So all in all I would say this is a great lunch buffet place(where I’m sure they make a killing), but I’m not sure about dinner. But in the end the food is great and that’s what matters most-at least to me ;)
