It was okay — wouldn’t order from again. I did delivery and it was pretty fast, but the portions were incredibly small. The ingredients weren’t fresh and the fried wontons were filled with nasty pork grinder confection of some sort — so strange. The white rice wasn’t bad?

This is definitely one of my favorite Thai places to order from in all of Boston. I use Foodler to order from here and delivery is usually reasonable(less than an hour). For appetizers, I’ve only tried their scallion pancakes, which are tastier and less greasy than those I’ve had at other Thai places. For entrees, I’ve had the crispy noodle with duck, sweet curry, and massaman curry. The crispy noodles weren’t quite as crispy as the name implies but they came with a reasonable portion of well-cooked, tasty duck — delicious! I really enjoyed both curries as well, but slightly prefer the massaman because it was more savory. For dessert I usually get the mango sticky rice which is definitely on the sweeter end of the dessert spectrum but still very enjoyable. Lastly for beverages, the thai ice tea and lychee jelly(ice) are both excellent; you can’t go wrong between the two. Overall, every menu item I’ve ordered from Basil Rice has been far above the standards set by other Thai restaurants in the area. If you’re looking for the best Thai delivery in Boston, I definitely recommend giving Basil Rice a try.

I love thai food and really liked this place. It’s a bit tricky for a large family since its a small restaurant, but they were able to fit our family of 7 in pretty well. The restaurant probably fits about 15 people tops, but they also do a ton of take-out. The staff was really friendly and the food was really fresh. I live right over here so I’ll definitely be back!

This is seriously the WORST place ever. I just ordered food tonight. I still hadn’t received it an hour later and I called them to see where my order was. They continued to tell me that they never received my order, even AFTER I got an emailed confirmation AND I was charged. The woman then hung up on me. I am now starving and mad.

We ordered delivery from here two days ago and we were so happy that we did! The food was so inexpensive so we were slightly suspicious on whether the quality would be good as well. Well the food was delicious and our food arrived in a timely manner as well! We ordered the chicken green curry, chicken masaman curry and chicken pad thai. Both curries came with white rice(no added fee). And Basil Rice even threw in a golden purse fried treat for free! All this food(great portion sizes) for $ 32(including delivery and tax fee). Wowwsaa– Basil rice just became our new Thai food delivery spot!

Love this place! I live near Brookline Village and I have other Thai restaurants to choose from. This is a little out of my way but well worth it. The style of street food offered are Thai, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese. I usually stay away from one restaurant with more than one style but these guys really know what they are doing. Small casual order at the counter and very reasonable prices. Very friendly service. My boyfriend is a Thai chef and is impressed. Check it out n enjoy!

Loved it! My roommates and I ordered take out/delivery through . The food came within 40 minutes of ordering online. And the food was delicious!!! We ordered a Curry dish, the garlic lovers rice, scallion pancakes, and crab rangoon. It was all phenomenal. The duck sauce/sweet and sour was the best I have ever had. I can’t say enough about basil rice, the food was fantastic, so delicious. We also got a complimentary treat from them. I will return and would recommend basil rice. They have a great menu and again, the dinner was fantastic.

Crab Rangoon — $ 5.95 Mango Fried Rice — $ 7.95 Crispy Noodle — $ 7.95 I ordered for delivery and it was A-OK. The mango rice and crab rangoon were standard, decent quality. The crispy noodle wasn’t crispy, but I enjoyed the flavor. I will probably order from them again because I heart delivery, the price is right, and the quality was consistently good. Just wasn’t blown away.

I was previously forewarned about the food of Basil Rice, I want to try it out myself. On a whim, I went in and ordered a garlic’s lover with shrimp and white rice. Potion size is generous, and that’s a plus. But I can’t hide my disappointment. I like Thai and Vietnamese food, but this is decidedly not Thai. This is just a cheap whip-up Chinese takeaway food, with very thick and heavy black-bean paste like sauce that is salty, so much so that I have to rinse the food out of the sauce before I can eat it. There are some small slices that I take them to be garlic, but I really can’t tell because I can’t taste any garlic in anything. There are exactly four shrimps that are overcooked(and rough), and lots of cucumber. In the end, I just couldn’t finish it even though I was hungry. That said, the staff is friendly. The price is middle-of-the-road($ 9.95 for a rice dish, though only four shrimps to be had). The place is conveniently located and seating is comfortable enough(since it’s mostly empty but quite some people coming in for takeout). I’m not sure if I would try it again.(I just can’t stand thick heavy sauce.) It’s a pity since everything else of Basil Rice seems decent, too bad that the one thing that counts most — the food — doesn’t live up to it.

Ordered food from here off of Unilocal. The Food came quite quickly and the man was very nice. The chicken tenders side dish you get 4 of them and they were not that bad actually, the sweet N sour sauce was very delicious. The Drunken Chicken meal was alright, good sizes of Rice noodles but the chili was a bit much. The Teryaki Chicken wrap was not to good. The chicken tasted funny, still had skin on it? Didn’t really eat it. For the price its not bad, not really my cup of tea even though I love this sort of food. For a quick bite I think it would be alright during the day but not really for a dinner place.

Very disappointed; food just wasn’t great, and it was pretty clear the staff couldn’t care less if I threw the whole thing out. I should mention, I was the ONLY person in there, about an hour after opening. The wonton soup broth was the best, the wontons themselves had a spongy, almost crustacean feel, which is patently wrong for a pork wonton, not to mention it was white… I got a duck curry wrap, some reason the duck was breaded, which I didn’t ask for, and it was all tendon meat and gooey breaded fat instead of actual meat, so that extra $ 2 went straight down the drain. Also, I got the lunch combo, the Rangoon were included in the appetizer combo, and I didn’t get a drink,(I normally check but they stapled the bag shut several times and I felt awkward ripping it open). Appetizer Combo, no clue what that entailed so I asked and was told I’d get one of every single appetizer. Yea right. It was actually a half order of vegetable tempura,(3 broccoli, 2 zucchini, 2 sweet potato), 2 veggie spring rolls, 2 triangles, 2 chicken satay, and the 2 Rangoon that came with my lunch combo,(unless they forgot about the combo altogether, so choose your mistake). Obviously, several appetizers missing, so that was disappointing. But even worse, no sauces! EACH of those appetizers comes with sauces, and without them it’s just a sad plate of dry fried stuff. Speaking of dry, I’m one of the first people there and I clearly got old chicken satay, it was hard and stringy like it was an old batch they reheated for me. The vegetable tempura was delicious, though a sauce would’ve been nice. All the rolls and triangles and Rangoon were over-fried, so they just tasted blech. And endlessly dry because, again, no sauces. How disappointing! I’m sure this place could be good, but the overall quality is highly contingent on the staff.

I had the Bi Bim Bop with beef and it was great. The atmosphere was fun and casual, and I felt like the woman who took my order really cared about whether I liked the food or not, which I did. I almost went back there again tonight but then decided I should try something new. Overall I thought the atmosphere and service were excellent, and so was the food. I will definitely go back!

my husband and I recently ordered delivery from basil rice and thought it was a pretty good dinner. the food arrived very quickly, seemed like it was made fresh, and the price for portion sizes was reasonable. my favorite was the Korean bimimbap. i selected shrimp and it was served with a great savory sauce over rice with kimchi, mushroom, other vegetables, and a fried egg. the portion was a nice size, although i did not finish all of the rice. we both also enjoyed the teriyaki beef although while the sauce also had a great savory flavor it was a bit too salty. the fried rice was just okay, since contrary to the other dish it was lacking a bit on overall flavor.

Walked by this place and decided to try it out. My boyfriend and I just wanted a mid-afternoon snack so we ordered the spicy basil with chicken. When it came out we got a pad thai. I was very confused and told the lady that we ordered the spicy basil with chicken and she responded saying that this is what it was. According to the menu, there is a spicy basil with chicken rice dish(or wrap) and the rice dish is what I ordered, not pad thai. I brushed it off, not really caring since I also enjoy a good pad thai. This was NOT a good pad thai. It was overly sweet, had way too much fish sauce, the chicken was rubbery, and it was all sitting in a soupy mess. I couldn’t take more than a few bites and left the rest sitting on the table. If you want good thai food, walk a few more blocks down harvard and go to dok bua. You’ll get better food and better service for the same price.

There are some mixed reviews here about this restaurant, but I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the fresh veggie rolls, crab Rangoon, and chicken Teriyaki. All I can say is WOW. The food arrived 20 minutes early and was amazing! Everything was super fresh and so delicious. I loved all of it and I can’t wait to eat the leftovers tomorrow. My recommendation is to order from this restaurant whenever you are looking for a place to have some great delivery.

First timer here. Ordered spicy basil chicken with brown rice for take out. Went home, unwrapped my wrap and found white rice. Ok — simple mistake. Took a bite. Fried shrimp. No sign of chicken in this heavy on the rice and mayo sandwich. But there was so little shrimp in the wrap it didn’t matter what was floating on the mayo. It just tasted like a mayo and rice sandwich.

I finally stopped by! I’ve been wanting to try this place, but felt the need to read a review first, so thanks Susan L. I wanted to help others make the decision to try this place by posting a review with pictures. Today was the last day of the 20% discount, so I stopped here for lunch. A big lunch. My friend and I shared the Basil Rice Combo appetizer(dumplings, satay chicken, spring rolls, veggie tempura, and other popular appetizer items), which came with 4 different sauces. I think my favorite was the zucchini tempura and spring rolls, although I prefer my spring rolls more golden brown. The appetizer combo is $ 10.95. I was on Instagram recently, where someone had posted a picture of shrimp and pineapple fried rice. I was craving it today, so that’s what I ordered here. For $ 8.95, it’s good, but I think for $ 2 more you can get double the amount at Dok Bua. It was delicious, nonetheless. I didn’t pay the full amount, so I can’t complain about the portion. My friend got the beef drunken noodle for $ 8.95. Also good, but there weren’t as many veggies as other drunken noodle dishes we’ve had. I had a great lunch here. After the discount, it was $ 27 including a lemonade. I didn’t get a drink, but an employee came by our table and gave me a cup of cold water. How sweet of him! 5 stars for him! The food is good. The portions aren’t as big as other places, but it’s more of a to-go place than a sit down restaurant(they have tables and chairs), so I’m fine with it. I’m going back again soon, probably just to get one thing if I go alone because I don’t think I can finish my meal and the appetizer.
