Service wise, an average shop that is good if you need a needle/cartridge replaced or a belt for your turntable. I brought in a Marantz 2250B that needed some work and the lights replaced. When I brought it in I mentioned the things that needed to be done and emphasized I would like it as if I had just opened the box to this beauty. «Not a problem» i was told. Picked it up 3 weeks later(not a bad turnaround for the work I knew needed to be done). Was told he couldn’t do the lights(First disappointment) and all was good. Went home and fired her up. Lights were half working not a surprise as I was told this. But the thing that got me was the issue I really brought it in for. The intermittent drop of signal from the Phono was still an issue. Also the face plate was still dirty, a minor detail but still a pay attention to detail aesthetic. A tell-tale sign of what I didn’t see. The only reason I brought it here was it was close to home and Another Repair Shop in Cambridge, which I have seen work done and was impressed with was super busy at the time and in the middle of a location change. So being impatient I said why not. Don’t want to say much more but I did get my equipment in to the other Repair Shop and wow! I would have paid the combined price of Audio Studio and Q-Audio’s service fee for what he(Other Repair Shop) did. Picked it up and a total different experience. A man that takes pride in his work by keeping me there to plug it in and take off the panel to show me the inside and walk me through what he did and why. Out of the Box is what I got the second time. To be fair I did call Audio Studio to express my concerns and he said to bring it right in to address them. I feel that when the initial concerns are not met, why spend more money or time even if the second repair is free. So I went where I wanted from the beginning.

This place is great for the pickiest audiophiles or someone who knows nothing about vintage audio equipment. The owner is incredibly helpful and was happy to answer any question I had. Great prices too!

I went to Audio Studio looking for a record player for my boyfriend for Valentines Day. Entering knowing very little about audio equipment in general, the owner was super polite, friendly, and very helpful. He located a slightly used record player for me, fixed it up, and even gave me a free spare cover for it. I told the owner I was going to be out of the area for a few days, but to please contact me when it was all ready to go. He agreed with no problem, even telling me he could stay extra hours, or come in on a day when the store was usually closed; whatever was most convenient for me. 5 stars for Audio Studio!

I’ve been going to Audio Studio for a while now, and I only have good things to say about them. The bottom line is that these guys know hi-fi audio systems inside and out, and I really trust their advice. I know they design and build some amazing speakers of their own, and their selection of other brands is huge. Even if you don’t see what you’re looking for out in the store, they probably have it squirreled away somewhere. I made my last major audio purchase(two used Technics 1200 turntables) from Audio Studio about a year ago, and I’m very happy with the service and the product. The price was more than fair, and they gave both turntables a total overhaul before selling them to me. I would recommend Audio Studio to anyone interested in buying audio equipment. They won’t try to oversell you on crazy equipment you don’t need(unless of course you want crazy high-end stuff, in which case they have some really fancy gear).

Audio Studio is a wonderland for audiophiles. The store is literally jam-packed with hifi, audiophile equipment. What’s even better is that the owner always gives you a fair deal at a fair price. I once brought in a Rotel power amp for a tricky repair, and while it was being fixed he gave me an even better NAD on loan to use in the meanwhile. The speakers(mostly designed and produced by the owner) deliver more high quality bang for the buck than anything you’ll find at other, larger stores. And of course the personalized service is incredible. I can’t recommend this place enough — spread the word!

It really doesn’t get much better than this. I wouldn’t think twice about purchasing any audio equipment from anywhere else than Audio Studio in Brookline. Anything you need or are looking for from simple stuff to more elaborate systems can be acquired here for prices that are really quite good; not to mention you get a several month warranty. I got a turntable a while back, and when something went wrong with it, the owner fixed up for me quickly and without question. Some of the equipment there can’t be found anywhere else. It’s also quite obvious from having spoken to the owner that he is easily the most knowledgeable source of information regarding newer and vintage equipment.

I had frequently passed by Audio Studio and figured it looked like a nice home town place to give my business to, so when I needed some repair on a guitar amp I brought it there. That was on Nov 23, 2005. The owner(Michaelov) took the amp with a $ 30 deposit and said he could have it fixed within a week and a half or so. He said he would call me when it was done. After 3 weeks I had not heard from him, so I called. He said he was waiting for a part from a distributer that would take a bit longer to get. I don’t wish to go into too many details here, but just know that on ATLEAST8(!) more occasions I was told that I would be called back with updates on the delivery of this part, and only once did he ever call me. Every time I would call him angry about him not calling me with an update, he would make up an excuse(always about«the distributor») and then promise that the part was on its way and my amp would be fixed and ready to pick up in a week or so. On May 24, 2006(6MONTHSAFTERHAVINGDROPPEDITOFF!) I picked up my amp, which had still had NO work done on it whatsoever(it is still broken). I am always forgiving of people with small businesses, and understand that parts can sometimes take a while to acquire, but 6MONTHS?! For a simple power transformer?! Even more than that, I am annoyed at the sheer customer neglect and straight-up lying. At least if you’re not going to call, then don’t say you will! If a part is not in the mail, then don’t say it is! So here I am, angry, still with no amp, and 30 bucks poorer(no refund on that deposit). I feel retarded for putting up with his neglect and lying as long as I did. I joined Unilocal specifically to write this review.
