Wheaton Franciscan – Elmbrook Memorial Campus

I’ve worked in healthcare my entire career. I don’t work for a Wheaton group, but Elmbrook is my very favorite hospital. The staff is always professional and friendly. I feel I get first rate care. The surgeons are excellent and the facilities are first rate.
I have been through the ED here as well. The staff was so efficient, reassuring and professional.

Quality care, great surgeons. Special thanks to the staff nurses doctors etc. For giving great care to my Mother-​in-​law. Since I don’t know them by name just a general thank you to everyone. Thanks to all her friends that also came to visit. Thanks to everyone one prayers.

I delivered both my daughters here and I have had two surgeries here and stayed overnight for both. The nurses, doctors, aides, just about everyone is kind and caring. It is a quiet place and you get great personalized attention. No one likes to be sick or in the hospital but if I have to be ill or have a surgery this is the place I want to be!

Sorry to say Elmbrook Hospital made my husband worse over the course of his 3 night stay. The nightshift doctor for the whole hospital wanted to stay the course and continue the same treatment my husband had been getting during the day despite the fact that his condition had worsened and that she didn’t even bother to see him first. This was very irresponsible. I requested that she see him 3x but she was too busy admitting other patients to the hospital. She finally came 1-​l/​4 hours later furious that I should bother her. She didn’t know that he was severely dehydrated because they weren’t monitoring his liquids going in and out as they stated they would. He was severely dehydrated due the fact that he threw up three times that day because of his body’s reaction to the medication they kept giving him and which she wanted to continue to give him. When I questioned her decision she went ballistic and started screaming at me in front of my sick husband who was there for high blood pressure. This was extremely unprofessional. After stating my objections to the several different unnecessary medications she wanted to give him she threw her hands up and left the room never to return. The next doctor on duty had common sense and realized the medications were making him worse and took him off of everything. He started to improve dramatically. Elmbrook Hospital’s nightshift doctor was rude, unprofessional, uncaring, irresponsible and could have killed my husband

Excellent nursing for a kidney stone event. ER nurse, a guy, was brutal in trying to get an IV started. After admittance to hospital all was excellent and competent.

Unfortunately, I injured my back while traveling to Milwaukee for work. Fortunately, I was smart enough to go to the Emergency Room when the pain got really severe. My hotel recommended Elmbrook, and I’m glad they did.
I was in the ER for just about two hours. There was no wait, which was a nice surprise. The nurses were quick to get me into a room, gather all my demographics, and start diagnosing what was going wrong. Dr Bruce saw me shortly after getting settled in, and then sent me for an X-​ray. The Radiologist was very kind, and helped me on and off the table. When it was all done, Dr Bruce found the root cause of my on-​going injury — I was thrilled to know what’s going on.
They then gave me the proper medications to relieve the pain and spoke to me professionally and courteously about what I’d need to do when I got home, to really remedy the issues. They gave me a CD with my scans, print-​outs of the discharge instructions, and told me what to do for the coming days. On the whole, they did a great job, treated me like an intelligent being, and I never felt like «another body» that was just being pushed through their facility.
The only reason I didn’t go with 5-​stars: A hospital isn’t really a place I want to go back to, over and over again…

Great friendly staff. Very nice and kind. Took care of me with wonderful care.
