We will start with the positives: the food was delicious. You definitely get plenty of food, especially with the four course experience. The waitresses we had were very friendly and helped us through the menu. The negatives: it took forever to be seated, and my party had a reservation. We still waited 45 minutes after our reservation time. It was also quite frustrating that we waited so long when there was a table right next to us that remained dirty throughout our whole meal, roughly two hours.

It’s a bad place to go if you’re hungry. My party made a reservation earlier in the day. We arrived ten minutes before our scheduled time and at the time of writing this, we are still waiting to be seated thirty minutes after our scheduled time. Apparently this review needs to be longer though so it a silver lining is that the waiting room is really nice Update: was seated 45 mins after original time. The server was nice and walked us through everything. The table in our immediate field of view was dirty our entire meal

We’ve been to this restaurant for our daughter’s birthday many years in a row. Downhill slide every year to rock bottom this year. We had an 8:15 reservation and left at 11:25. Many times we were told they were short«staffed». Never once apologized to. Manager tonight at 11:25 said…“well I’ll give you a coupon if you want to come back”…umm… I have enough money to come back. I just want an apology with some sincerity or a real explanation. Never once an apology. I don’t want your stupid coupon«if I come back». You ruined my daughter’s 14th birthday. The day is done. Won’t be given back. Don’t waste your $ 200-$ 250 there. Go to a restaurant that cares about its patrons. I wish I could give it a negative 5 stars. Don’t waste your money… or your time.

Oh. My. Gee. We came to The Melting Pot for the first time for Valentine’s Day this year. We’ve lived here for years, and have always wanted to go. Our server was new, but he was excellent and very attentive without being hover-y. We had their four-course Valentine’s menu for two, which included appetizer cheese fondue, a delicious spinach and strawberry salad(seriously SO good), an entrée platter that included two kinds of beef, chicken, shrimp and lobster, and a chocolate fondue for dessert along with complimentary sparkling hard cider. The food was incredible, and very generous. You definitely get what you pay for. We weren’t familiar with the process, but you basically cook things on the entrée platter yourself, which was an added fun twist. The meats were all seasoned really nicely and everything was very fresh, great quality. Don’t be afraid to ask them for a box if you can’t eat all of your food — you are paying dearly for it, after all! They’ll be happy to bring you a box for each course if you have more bits left over that you just didn’t have room for. They have an extensive cocktail menu and everything on it looked SO good, I would love to go back just for drinks and dessert sometime. The atmosphere is lovely– they have designed their seating and lighting so that it is very intimate and private. Not sound-proof, though, as we discovered. I mean, of course it isn’t. But the couple that was seated next to us toward the end of our meal began discussing their various acid reflux-related woes in an escalating one-upmanship competition, and we were glad we were about to go! Sheesh, folks. Mood-killer. I will note it’s also true that you’ll take home the savory smell of your bouillon base from the entrée cooking pot on your clothing and hair, so there is that. But it smells awesome, so we didn’t mind!

I’m in Wisconsin, so of course, I’m going to go to a place that has melted cheese. I was prepared to have cheese, main course, and chocolate, but after the cheese-we stopped. It was awful. Horrible. Our server used way too much beer and garlic, and it was so bad that I and my party of four are still regurgitating the bitter aftertaste several hours later. For a few bowls of dry bread chunks, veggies, and meat($ 4 extra, I might add), the total of $ 37 for the four of us was way over the top. Never again

Maybe I am easy to please because I am from Waukesha and not Brookfield but I have come to this melting pot 4 – 5 times a year since its grand open and I have never had a bad experience. This is an awesome place for a date, a celebration, or just a great way to kill a few hours on the weekend. Delicious food, well trained staff, and polite efficient service.

Had dinner here on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Overall a good experience representative of other Melting Pot restaurants I have eaten in. We did not have a reservation and the host made us feel a bit unwelcome and uncertain whether they could take us. Restaurant was not busy. Fortunately, a waitress overheard this and immediately offered to take us. Not an ideal first impression by far. Waitress was great.

Took my girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day and had reasonable expectations because she had a good experience a few years ago, and everyone and their grandma said they really like this place. Ambiance was nice, and it’s an intimate setting if you get a booth. Because of the holiday, they had a fixed menu with a couple options for each course. The first course was a cheese fondue. We chose the spicier of the two options which featured jalapenos, tomatoes… pretty much their version of a queso dip. The shredded cheese that they used looked like they got it straight from a Kraft bag from the store… I’m almost positive that’s what it was. Needless to say, the fondue was definitely lacking in flavor. Next came a salad containing mixed greens, nuts, strawberries, feta cheese, and a vinaigrette. I’m not sure how else to describe it other than ‘not great, but not terrible’. The main course we ordered was the Coq Au Vin broth, with mushrooms, red wine, garlic, scallions, mushrooms, and other seasonings. This was served with filet, chicken, pork, shrimp, and lobster, plus several dipping sauces. Suspiciously, I enjoyed the pork the best. Everything else was about what you’d expect. Not bad, but not really a big enough portion for two people. Dessert was a cookies n cream and chocolate fondue, served with various pastries and fruit to dip. I’m not a big sweets person, but it was actually pretty good. Overall, you’re really just paying for the unique experience. The service is good, but the food itself is nothing spectacular. In my opinion, I didn’t get the $ 110 value that I paid for. Obviously some people will disagree, and that’s fine. If I go back, it will definitely be on an ordinary day of the week when they have the full menu available.

The idea of melted cheese and meat is awesome but they use way too much garlic and my gf got sick for the second year in a row after eating there…

Walked in with my husband a two son at a couple minutes to 4pm. We were turned away, they are booked with reservations until 8:30pm. So either be an exclusive reservations required restaurant or accept walk ins! It is unacceptable to fake being both only when it suits your needs. We will not attempt to go back!

ATTEMPTED to eat here. Despite the clearly open tables and no one else waiting to be seated, my wife and I were told(in an incredibly snotty manner) that we must have a reservation, or wait 1.5 hours for a table. Ha! They are trying to run this establishment as though it were a high end, five star restaurant. It is not. We went down the road to Blue Sombrero where they were more than happy to serve us, and the food, service, and drinks were spectacular.

I’ve eaten here many times, and have always been extremely pleased with with food and service. It’s not cheap or fast but you’re paying for the experience and I’ve never had a bad one here. It’s especially fun for a GNO. For anyone who complains about there not being a big enough portion size of items to dip, they will bring you more fruit, veggies and bread at no additional charge as long as you have something left in the pot. Every time I have been there, the server has disclosed this information up front.

I’d been wanting to try out the Melting Pot for a long time and was finally able to a few weeks back. It’s exactly what it’s advertised as… a fondue place. As long as you go expecting that you will be dipping and cooking you’re own food, you won’t be surprised. My fiancé and I both did the 4 course dinner. The cheese fondue was awesome… my only wish was that there was a little more of it. We both got salads with some sort of peppercorn dressing that was delicious. The main course was a ton of fun. We got two different ones(an original one and a cajun seasoned one). It was both fun and tastey to try all the different items and experiment with the breadings. The chocolate fondue was sinful, but we couldn’t even finish we were so full. Although a little pricey for what it is, I will be back again.

This place is a 2 hour course meal. Dont expect to be cheap and quick but, it is a fun place for any occasion. But– it also all depends who your server is. It could make this occasion fun and smooth or slow and frustrating. It is worth to try once at least.

Where should I start, the dirty napkin, the improperly cleaned shrimp, or the waitress spilling drinks? If thats not enough to justify one star how about the exorbitant prices for tiny portion sizes and crazy long wait between courses for service? Don’t torture yourself. You’ll have more fun and better value for your money at the kids land at a McDonald’s!

So this is the third time I have ATTEMPTED to eat at the Melting Pot. In all fairness the 1st two times were within the first year The Melting Pot had opened and I could clearly see a good number of people waiting; so when the hostess announced an ungodly wait time, it was understandable. When I went to the Melting Pot tonight around 5:15 and well over 50% of the parking was empty and not a single patron could be seen in the lobby or the bar; when I was asked if I had made reservations(which I hadn’t) well then my wait time would be well over and hour and a half. Good Bye Melting Pot! I was anxious to try eating here; but clearly you have no sense of customer service, don’t want my business and I will not be back again.

The absolute worst value in dining. I’ve heard people talk about the Melting Pot. It’s fondue and it isn’t cheap. So I’m imagining some great cheese fondues and some sort of entrée to dip into some delicious sauces. Well that does not in anyway shape or form describe the melting pot. Four course meal You get to choose a cheese fondue. And then you get to sit around while your server leans over your table melting cheese in a pot. I picked the caesar salad which was over dressed and inexplicably featured pine nuts coated in sugar. Now the main course. They drop off a new pot filled with cooking oil. They then drop off a plate of uncooked meat and batter. Hey you now have to deep fry your own food. The batter is bland and well you’ve just made a bunch of corn dogs. Now you have to sit at a table with a smelly pot of cooking oil on it. Dessert for two consists of a plate with a third of a banana sliced up, one and a half strawberries, one rice krispie treat, two treensie tiny brownie pieces, two marshmallows and a sliver of cheesecake. And you get a tiny amount of chocolate fondue. Awful value and an awful dining experience.

The first time my wife and I have gone was this past Sunday. We had just had a rough weekend fixing our house from the ice dam issues we have had. I had a gift card from our wedding earlier in the year, and decided we needed to treat ourselves to something more calm and relaxing after the weekend we had. Well, it was a good decision. Their Sunday special of $ 25 per person for 3 courses was perfect for us. It was truly relaxing. Our waitress helped us just enough without being bothersome. She let us enjoy doing the fondue at our own pace, but was attentive enough to know when to come back to help us out or move onto our next entrée. We ended up spending a little over two hours there for dinner, which was a perfect relaxing dinner. Not only was the food wonderful and totally worth the money(My wife doesn’t even like steak, but she loved the teriyaki sirloin we received). The desserts were to die for, and the cheese fondue was wonderful as well. Sometime near the end of the meal, the manager came by to ask how everything was and even conversed a little with us. We don’t have a lot of money to where we can do this often, but I can guarantee you this… I would rather not go out a few times a month at other restaurants, and would spend that money every other month to go here. It was a calming spa like atmosphere along with tasteful food that we could eat(and make fresh) at our own pace. Five stars all the way!

To all the idiots who are complaining they had to cook themselves, have you ever heard of fondue? Apparently not! Smart people know they are coming to cook their own food. You shouldn’t make a review and complain about cooking your food. You look like a tool. The customer service is great! The cheese and portions of dipping items are quite large. The teriyaki sirloin is by far one of the best items. I suggest using oil to cook and another pot of either court bouillon or coq au vin. They really help out the different cooking styles and flavors. The turtle is great for desert and so is the s’mores! Bring your appetite! The food is fantastic! The experience is nothing short of fun!

We had always wanted to eat here but knew it was very expensive. We jumped at the chance when there was a Groupon available. We went on the absolute last day of the deal. We had read the menu previously and knew what to expect price wise. We got there about a hour early but were seated at the bar. Luckily drinks were half off otherwise they run from $ 9.00 up for mixed drinks and margaritas. We were seated pretty close to our reservation time. We chose to order our items separate rather than go for the American night out menu they had. We had the beer/cheese fondue which was very tasty at $ 16.00. Our server was very knowledgeable and explained every part of the process to us. I had the surf and turf with chicken and my hubby had the regular surf and turf. For the price $ 22.00, I was disappointed with the protein size. They had two tempuras for battering the shrimp and veggies and an assortment of sauces. Our bill was still around $ 60.00 with the Groupon. I don’t think I would come here without some kind of coupon. The experience was really neat though.

Want to see $ 8 worth of food turned into $ 80? Then dine here! If you’re a fan of mediocre cheese and chocolate sauce and like to pay way more for your food than any normal person would, this is your place. I went for a special Halloween dinner, it was $ 35/person which is actually a cheaper price than normal. It was 3 courses and came with wine(no substitution). Course 1 is cheese dip with little bread cubes, broccoli and cauliflower mix, and green apples. However, the portions are so small you barely notice them. You get about 1 apple, half a vegetable can worth of veggies, and about ¼ loaf of bread. Course 2 was 4 bite size pieces of each: steak, teryaki steak, chicken, and shrimp. You have to skewer them and cook them yourself in the boiling pot. They also bring a small bowl of potatoes, mushrooms, and another veggie which you have to cook yourself as well. I’m all for cooking my own stuff, but this was unnecessary. They provided 6 sauces, about a teaspoon worth of each, which wasn’t nearly enough but the server didn’t come back in time to ask for more before we finished. Course 3 was dessert. Easily the biggest variety. There’s a slice of cheesecake, pound cake cubes, the tiniest 2 squares of brownie you’ve ever seen, about 3 chopped up strawberries, and graham cracker and cocoa covered marshmallows which you can di in milk chocolate. Easily the best part of the meal. After the tax and 18% tip, we paid $ 91 for two people! That’s crazy considering how little you get! Definitely not a place to go with kids, and definitely not a place to go if you’re hungry, you’ll be hungry again 2 hours after you leave. Great atmosphere though, but that’s about it.

I was pretty skeptical about this place and I still think full price is a bit much to spend, but with their specials, I think its totally worth it. We also went for the Fox 6 of Dining promotion, making it completely reasonable. The promotion was for 3 course — cheese, meats and chocolate. We had the cheddar cheese fondue and liked it, but there was just one part of it that I wasn’t a fan of. It was a slight hint of something that I didn’t like. The boyfriend liked it, but I would’ve tried something else. However, the meat course was great. They use a proprietary blend of spices and hot water and you leave the meat and veggies in the water to cook. We got the plate that had steak, chicken and shrimp, along with potatoes, mushrooms, carrots and broccoli. There are also multiple dipping sauces — teriyaki, mustard and curry, among others. The teriyaki steak was amazing. It was a great cut — tender and wonderful. It was far and away the best of the meats. I would have loved to have a plate of it. By the time we got to the chocolate course, I was already pretty full and wished I hadn’t finished off the cheese course. But you don’t turn down a pot of melted chocolate… It did not disappoint. Bananas, strawberries, pound cake, brownies, marshmallows — all to dip. But far and away the best thing was the rice krispie treats dipped in chocolate. They were heavenly. We’re still talking about them. SO amazingly good. Overall, we left impressed. We paid $ 25 a person and I felt that was reasonable. I can’t imagine going back and paying twice that, which is what I think the menu price is.

This is my favorite restaurant! The only downside is that it’s a little on the pricey side. I love the romantic, dimly lit atmosphere. This is a great place to go for a date night or a special occasion, but it’s also fun to go with a small group of good girlfriends on one of their ladies nights(typically on Monday’s). We usually frequent this restaurant once or twice per year and we have only had one bad experience ever(with a bad server). But the manager was very friendly & offered us some coupons for our next visit based on our bad experience. I’d recommend making reservations and dress is not necessarily dressy, but more what I’d say«business or professional casual».
