Formerly known as Mi Cocina and Cocina Real, they have the best salsa of any restaurant I’ve been to. You cannot beat it. Spicy with a very smooth texture– not chunky at all which is what I prefer. Every time I go I eat a minimum of 3 – 4 refills on chips/salsa, without fail, as well as some to go. It’s the best. Food is good. Always hot and very flavorful. I usually stick to the chicken burritos or enchiladas so I can’t comment on the rest of the menu. However, friend’s I’ve brought here always seem to be satisfied! The service is hit or miss, however– even when the place is nearly empty. I’m not sure why this is but it’s a bit irritating when you’re the only people in the restaurant and you can’t get a bill. Thus the 3 star rating for this review. Overall, it’s worth a visit!

Just moved here from San Diego. Been spoiled with the best Mexican food around. I can safely say this place is legit. The Tamale was one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend!

Friend and I went there on a Wednesday eve about 8:30pm. Only one other couple there. We each ordered a premium margarita. They were huge, but tasted watered down and the rim had a spicy salt mix. Very odd. The chips and salsa tasted like just came out of the bag and jar. We dropped $ 20 on the bar and left. Didn’t even finish the drinks. Headed down to Jose’s Blue Sombrero where the drinks, chips and salsa are always good.

Overpriced. A bowl of tortilla soup will cost you over $ 5. A burrito with no sides is $ 10. For that price you should at least get rice or beans on the side. The soup was hot but flavorless. The cheese on the burrito was cold and curdled. Will never go back.

Worst Mexican restaurant in brookfield! My husband and I came here cuz joses was packed… We waited for 40 minutes for our food, the waitress barely came to our table, and once we got the food it was terrible! My husband ordered shrimp taco cuz they ran out of tilapia and it was essentially just cheese and shrimp! I had enchiladas and quesadilla, but the ques came out 5 minutes after my other food came out. Chipa and salsa and table side Quac was also bad! don’t waste your time eating here! Go to Jose’s instead…

Both dishes were undercooked, server said I can microwave it and bring it right back. Not what I had in mind. 2nd star given because my 5 yr old ate his whole meal which is rare.

I’m surprised to see so many negative reviews about this restaurant. I never had any issues eating here. Chimichanga, Verde, Enchilada, quesedillas, fresh guacamole… everything is great, cheap. Service — not overly courteous. I think — not bad. Maybe …my opinion might change in furture but as of now this is my favorite restaurant.

I was hesitant to come here considering the ratings, but I bit the bullet & I am so glad I did! This place is charming & delicious! I had the cinco de mayo burrito & it was the best! I posted a picture of it, it’s definitely the biggest thing I’ve ever seen! Highly recommend!

Should have checked Unilocal before we said, what he heck let’s try this place … a big mistake. Average to poor service at best. Took forever to place an order, took for ever to refill our drinks, and yes after 35 minutes from placing our food order, I asked the«other» waiter where the food was… Finally after 40 minutes our food(term used loosley) arrived. I ordered sizzling Texas Fajita’s, what was served was warm food on a cool sizzle plate… SERIOUSLY!!! The beef was garbage, tough and without flavor, oh yes and cool not hot! did I mention the sizzle plate was not sizzling! My wifes taco’s were not much better, served warm, they also had been forgotten to be served 40 minutes prior, also very greasy… YUK! We also ordered caso(cheese dip) it was thick, almost like curdled milk. The service, the food, why the heck is this place still in business? Do yourself a favor don’t waste your hard earned dollars eating at this place …

Really disappointing visit following the name change. Back when this was«Mi Cocina» it was one of my favorites and I was a frequent visitor. The service was great, prices were affordable and food was consistent and delicious. Went back last night(after what I think might have been the 3rd name change in less years) and was sorrily disappointed. I should have known given the empty parking lot and matching tables at 6:00 on a weeknight that something had changed. It used to be a busy place no matter the time or day! We ordered drinks — the skinny margarita was so tart I almost couldn’t drink it. The Queso Fundido was a blob of somewhat warm cheese that was almost impossible to get on a chip to eat. Service was good but the wait was incredibly long given that we were one of 4 tables full during what must be the«dinner rush». I got a taco without any meat it in it(they made me a new one but it took another 15 minutes). My boyfriend’s chimichanga was filled with some very questionable meat and that and the enchilada were covered(DRENCHED) in a sauce that was incredibly spicy and not in a good flavorful kind of way. He didn’t eat more than a bite before his stomach turned and he didn’t eat any more. This place has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse. Changes beyond just the name.

Was there today for dine in Brookfield, yikes! Only things that was decent was salsa and the habanero salsa, desert– fried ice was good too. App was horrible, had nachos, felt like I was at a carnival. Entrée-Everything tasted the same all jumbled together. The margarita was watered down. Booooo!

The first warning sign should have been the empty parking lot on a Friday night. Our initial apprehension faded when we were greeted promptly by the waiter who brought our drinks and salsa quickly. However, we didn’t see him again for another 20 minutes to take our orders despite being one of only two parties in the restaurant. When our food arrived it was disappointingly bad. The sauteed vegetables were limp, greasy, and over salted. The beans and rice were bland. The cheese in the enchiladas was gloppy and tasteless. The enchilada sauce was frighteningly gray and I’m not sure what that terrible flavor was. The mojito was sickeningly sweet. The chips were old. Even the Coke was off — not sure how that’s even possible, but given the rest of the meal it certainly didn’t surprise me. We only took a few bites of our meals. The server didn’t offer to comp either of them. Needless to say, this place won’t be getting a second chance.

I’ve been here about a dozen times, and have had a great experience everytime. My fiancé and I have tried almost every Mexican restaurant in the area, and this is our favorite. Always go with the excellent premium margaritas, and every entrée I’ve had has been great!

Is it called Laredo or Cocina??? After the initial trouble to convincing another group to change their dinner to Cocina, I was quite embarrassed when I couldn’t find Cocina and all 15 of my colleagues were calling me. I directed them all to Laredo as it was in the same location. The drinks were ok, the food not so much — it was quite bland and they mixed some of the orders up. Although we had a large group, I thought they will have handled it better. I think we asked the server to make us more Guac and she looked at us like we were crazy… smh

This restaurant is called Laredo’s now. My wife, myself, mother and baby stopped in on a Saturday around 5 p.m. They had two other tables of patrons. We sat down waited 10 min without anyone over to take our order. Left immediately and on our way out the door, walked past our«waitress» who waved goodbye to us. WTH?! I guess it’s not surprising their parking lot has no, or very few cars there ever!

Bland and uninspired Mexican food. The restaurant is now called Laredo’s. We drove a bit looking for Concina and decided to just stop in here because we couldn’t find it. According to other reviewers Laredo’s is the former Concina. The service was good and that’s why I’m giving it two stars. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was very bland. The chips and salsa was good but that was about it. I got a combo platter with 1 burrito and 2 enchiladas. All three looked and tasted identical. The spanish rice was like something you would get from a microwave packet and the refried beans also had little flavor. I don’t care for very hot food but I do like Mexican to have full flavors and a little kick. This food had neither. If your dining with someone who can’t tolerate much spice(like an old person) this place might be for you. Otherwise keep looking for your Mexican food fix.

Love it! The restaurant is sort of hidden within a strip mall. I was a little skeptical to try the place at first but was pleasantly suspired! The wait staff was very attentive, keeping waters and drinks full, refilling salsa and chips and brought out anything extra we needed. I have been here a few of times now and have tired different entrees on the menu and haven’t been disappointed yet! This is the spot if you’re craving Mexican cuisine! We will be back again soon!

Apparently it’s(now) called Laredo’s– at least that’s what’s on the sign above the door. This means we drove right past it the first time we went since it’s in a strip mall right on the main drag in Brookfield and we had no idea what we were looking for! That being said, we wanted yummy Mexican and they delivered. We sat down and had literally four different people come to our table within the first five minutes, which was frankly a little disconcerting. I’m all for good customer service, but it felt like every time I looked at the menu I got interrupted again. The chips and salsa on the table were very tasty — the salsa had a fresh flavor, good spike of cilantro and just a bit of a kick. We got a refill — we were fans. I had a combo plate with a quesadilla, enchilada and chimichanga. Since we’d never been I wanted to sample a little of everything to get a feel for the menu, so this worked. The enchilada and chimichanga came on the same plate and were covered in the same sauce, which was a little disappointing — I would have preferred them to have their own specific flavors. The enchilada was the star. I had the cheese and onion stuffed one and it was delicious. It was chock-full of fresh cut red onion pieces. Often enchiladas will not only be skimpy on the onion, but the pieces will have been cooked to their last legs and have no flavor — not the case here. The onions were just barely sauteed before being baked, so they were still slightly crisp and had tons of flavor. Enchiladas can sometimes be a throw-away or forgotten dish where restaurants re-use their leftovers, but not here. The chimichanga was crisp and golden and maintained that throughout the meal. It never got soggy, even under the sauce. Very impressive and tasty. The quesadilla looked good and was stuffed full, but I barely touched it. It was on the dry side and of the three things I got, was just the least appetizing. I think as a meal, the quesadilla is probably a good pick, but the half I got on a side plate wasn’t the best choice. Overall, the flavors totally delivered and were fresh, which was such a great surprise. This was not generic Mexican, nor was it totally from a can. We will definitely return.

Love it here. It is a little hidden and hard to see off of Bluemound but you must try it here. I’ve had the mole enchiladas and the enchiladas five ways(cheese, beans, chicken, pork, and meat). Both dishes are awesome! The menu has tons of delicious choices and people I’ve gone with always enjoy their food; followed by commenting on how they wished they knew about this place earlier. The salsa and margaritas here are also spot on. Go here and you will love it!
