Gross Heating & Air Conditioning

I was very impressed with all aspects of this company from the courteous woman who answered my initial call and her ability to set up an appointment on very short notice to the technician who came out and did a full cleaning and tune-​up and identified the source of the loud noise the furnace made when it started. The housing to the motor was cracked and he found a new motor, went and got it and installed it same day for a reasonable price. If not for this we would have been without heat in the near future! Thank you Gross Heating!

From the people I talked to on the phone to the service technician who came out to look at our furnace, everyone was so kind and polite, they all truly went the extra mile to make sure my home and my family were taken care of.

Last year we called Gross to come and look at our furnace — half our house was always cool in the winter and hot in the summer. The owner himself came out and advised us that our furnace was 10 years old and 80% efficient and that we did NOT need a new furnace. The problem was that our air ducts probably needed some dampers to balance out the air flow through the house. The duct work was encased in paneling so the cost would be about $ 200.00 for the fix. He gave us a shopping list of fixing the damper, getting a new 94% efficient furnace and a price for replacing our 34 year old central AC unit which we knew was running on borrowed time. He said nothing was urgent to replace since everything worked but he wanted us to have the info. Out of laziness, we didn’t do anything.
Flash forward to the present day and the next thing we knew its summer and our air conditioner was giving us problems. So since it was 34 years old we decided that it was time to replace the old gal and called Gross again. We were told that if we replace both the AC and go with a 94% efficient furnace that a generous rebate was available from the manufacturer. After talking it through and running the numbers we decided to pull the trigger on both the AC & furnace. They requoted the project (since 8 months had passed) and the quote came in $ 150.00 LOWER since there was a price drop on the furnace (I think Carrier was clearing them out for new models). A week later a team of 3 workers from Gross came out. It turns out our duct work did indeed have the proper dampers and the one leading to one side of the house were completely closed, so no need for new dampers — more savings! The crew worked like crazy and installed a new AC unit and the new 94% efficient furnace. They used the old concrete pad the previous AC sat on so we didn’t have to pay for that — NICE! When the work was done they explained how everything worked and how to operate the new thermostat and understand its operation.
Our house is much more even with the temperature feel and the new system is working great. I like the ‘set it and forget it’ type of thermostat and the new AC unit is VERY quiet. You can literally be standing next to it and you just here the fan blades turn — it’s that quiet. The fan on the furnace goes down to a low mode once the proper temperature is met and the temp in the house is comfortable and feels even throughout the whole house. A new furnace and AC is a costly project and let’s face it, it’s not as sexy as a new kitchen but you can’t live without it. I’m glad we pulled the trigger on this and had both the AC and the furnace installed and I’m glad we called Gross to act as our contractor. The crew is great. They explained all our options, answered all our questions with no pressure and saved us money where possible. Once we decided to move forward they quickly came out, did a fast & clean install and picked up after themselves. This is how business should be done and I’m glad we chose them.
