I like to support independent bookstores, so I shop here, but honestly, it’s a pretty sorry excuse for a bookstore. A great indie bookstore gives you the feeling that there’s real intelligence and care at work; the best indie bookstores reflect the individual taste of the people who run it. Unfortunately, Womrath doesn’t give you that feeling any more than a chain bookstore does. The selection here seems bland and almost random. Still, it’s nice to support independent bookstores, so I urge you to shop here if you live nearby.

Great selection of children’s books. A little cramped inside but I think that adds to the overall charm of the store. I picked up an adult coloring book from a small display up front/by the register. Looks pretty cool and it’s supposed to be akin to meditation. I’m sure this place is pricier than Barnes and Noble or Amazon but I think it’s nice to support a local small business.

Support local bookstores! Womrath is a family owned and operated business. They will go out of their way to help you. It’s also not just books – they have a wide selection of children’s toys and activities! If you’re not sure what to read next, ask Gene, Wanda or Kathe!

Womrath’s is a fantastic bookstore that is super convenient! The book selection is well-curated and the friendly owners are able to make good suggestions. It’s my default stop for children’s gifts– they have a nice variety of toys, and gift cards are always popular. If they don’t have something I want, they order for warp speed arrival-much faster than Amazon! Happy reading!

Great selection of books. The owner is very nice. If they don’t have a certain book they are always willing to order it for you. I have nothing bad to say about them. I have been going to this store since I was little. I would say a good percentage of the books in my room are from this book shop.

Excellent selection, very knowledgable staff, friendly and always something to pick up. Like to read? Well forget the kindle and walk into this lovely shop… the best in Westchester. It even stocked my bestselling book«Uprising.»

This is a great throwback to when bookstores were family owned: Gene and his wife make it essential for you to buy paper books, so you can enjoy the pleasure of shopping for them. They have signings, events, etc — a lot of small, human touches that are hard to find.

Amazon? Fahgedaboudit! We are so blessed to have a store like Womrath in the Village — not only do they stock all the new titles, I can walk in and say to Wanda or Gene«I read about this book a month or two ago… it was about xyz… don’t know the author… ANDTHEYWILLFINDIT! If they don’t have it, they will order it and call you in a few days. They make reading suggestions for the kids, find out of print books… you name it. I love my Womrath gift cards — both giving and receiving, and they gift wrap! Best of all, I’m speaking to a PERSON, in this case a number of lovely helpful people — the best!

While the name of this bookstore sounds a little bit like that of the wombat, this place is a warm little enterprise where you can get a good book. Although Womrath Book Shop stops just short of being a complete and total indie bookstore franchise, there is nothing about it that screams«chain» or otherwise indicates that you’ve stepped into something that could be easily relocated to your neighborhood mall. It’s a tiny place, and yes, they do have a shelf or two devoted exclusively to «Twilight,» but you’ll definitely find a range of thoughtful, thought-provoking books here, from Nabokov to «Americans in Paris,» the World War II nonfiction saga, to books on NYC. There’s even a small toy store-style section for kids. An older couple was manning the counter when I was there, and I’m not sure if they were the owners or if they were just employees. Even so, their presence lent a calm, serious element to the store. Barnes and Noble this place definitely isn’t, and you won’t find cafes or obnoxious lines at this place. Womrath hails back to a time when bookstores were bookstores, not commercial conglomerates. At Womrath, you can go in for a book and leave with a treasure. It’s a nice little place for bookworms.

There is a lot of good reading packed in this tiny space. They order in items for you that arrive lickety split, and are willing to research out of print items for you. If you belong to the book club in town, they automatically order it and call you when the monthly selection has arrived. Great customer service!

This small book store isn’t a tiny chain in disguise. Don’t look for magazine racks here. There’s a bunch of(writing) journal displays, cards, and other knick-knacks for books. There’s a nice, sizable collection for adults and another for kids. I’ve even ordered a few books through the store. The people are nice and friendly, and it’s so refreshing to see a small bookshop that isn’t a chain or a Borders. It’s fun to explore the racks and see what you’ll come up with.
