The best of the best. Is just delicious. The crust is thin the taste is perfect and trust me if you try it you will go back for more. My favorite is buffalo chicken and penne vodka slice. Yummmmm.

BESTSLICENEARARTHURAVE! Full, fluffy crust, huge slices and generous toppings. These guys make a great pie too. The Buffalo Chicken slice is by far their best specialty. Best buffalo slice I’ve ever had.

Have no idea why they call themselves University pizza because I don’t think they’re affiliated with Fordham university. The pizza here isn’t bad, but didn’t think it was great either. They have a number of non-pizza options as well. The place gets busy with teenagers in the afternoon, though. It’s also right by a bunch of bus stops, which is helpful when you want to grab a quick bite while waiting for your bus.

Great spot to get good, cheap, quick pizza. I’ve never had anything but pizza, but they do offer other pastas and stuff. Big slices for cheap, can’t ask for much more.

I like this over Pugsley’s. I’ve also gotten pasta dishes here too, which were always hot and fresh. The pizza is bigger and tastier than the Pug, in my opinion.

Ok, this an awesome pizza spot, period! I wait for the 12 bus before I go to work at the medical facility on the other side of Pelham Parkway. I am a pizza affectionado and this place rocks, the crust, thin and sturdy, the sauce terrific, cheese melted to perfection! My only one grip is, at some point seems a TAD doughie’ !in this case, a minor blemish at best! Go grab ya’self a slice, I get what i like call my one and one: 1 reg 1 with peperoni!

Their regular cheese slice is absolutely disgusting. It is very doughy, no cheese, no sauce. Probably the worst that I have ever had in my 19 years of living in NYC. Having said that, they have a few things that give them an edge over pugsleys. Their Buffalo chicken slices and rolls are pretty good, and their pepperoni rolls are really tasty as well. I live right around the corner from them and eventually wind up back there when I am too lazy to walk over to Tony and Tina’s Pizzeria(only 2 blocks further), but I am usually pretty satisfied with my meal now that I know what to order. I hate on this place pretty frequently but I guess they aren’t really that bad(besides the regular cheese pizza that is). Oh yeah, and the old dude that works there is pretty nice too.

For a quick slice with friends within a block Fordham, University Pizza is as good as it gets. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: this place beats the pants off of Pugsley’s. Sure, it has a bare-bones atmosphere and the staff aren’t the warmest bunch of Albanians you’ve ever met, but the pizza is respectable. Don’t be fooled by the fairly uninspiring plain slice here. University truly shines when it comes to its specialty slices. My personal favorite, the bacon slice, is absolutely covered in bacon. Seriously, it’s a deliciously obscene amount of bacon. The innovative buffalo chicken slice, with dressing instead of sauce and pieces of buffalo-style chicken on top, is a real treasure(this also comes in another form, the excellent buffalo chicken roll). The white slice, with ricotta and extra mozzarella, is a treat. I’d like to see a little more sauce on some of the slices, but lots of New York pizzerias have this problem, so I won’t knock University too much for it. The prices are great. The hours are long. The tables are clean, even if there are only a handful of them. The service is laconic but quick and accurate. Once you try University, you’ll keep coming back.

Leave it to two freshman to show this sophomore where to drag his sober ass when he wants a reasonably priced, decent quality slice of pizza, but not the greasy, oh so convenient deliciousness that is a Pugsley slice at 1 a.m. Seriously, I didn’t know that this place was right across the street from the university. I don’t think that University is open quite as late as Pugsley, but when you have your wits about you, the food is about 100x better. One of the guys behind the counter is freaking hot… in a weird, quiet, I-m-gonna-kick-your-ass-if-you-don’t-hurry-the-fuck-up-and-order, guido kind of way(normally I would find someone described like that to be completely repulsive, but in this case, it works). Had a white pizza. Really good. Soft crust, good cheese, decent sauce. Can’t really screw something like that up. I’ll definitely come back here.

When Pugsley’s won’t cut it – because sometimes it won’t – you, dear University, usually come to the rescue. I can’t say I’ve learned your hours by heart, and sometimes I am saddened not to see your lights on from the other side of Fordham Road. It is at these moments that I walk dejectedly, soberly, occasionally hungrily, back to my room. But on those occassions when you and the store(in my mind, you are united as one) are open, the night or day begins with potential. Some things are so simple and easy that one cannot help adoring them. Snagging some Sparks from the store and sitting down for a dependably good slice of pizza or a chicken roll that is better and less daunting than the Pug’s is one of those simple, easy things. Often, I forget about you. But I love you and the chap who mans the register whenever we go to debate over Sparks vs. Sparks Plus and the silly situations that send us in for pizza. So thank you.
