Pros:
— quicker service than usual.
— staff still friendly.
— No funky smell hanging in the air.
— Brightly lit and new changes in their ceiling, floor and light fixtures.
— Reliable drinks.
Cons:
— Customer service was lacking a just a tiny bit. Didn’t remove chips & dip plates once our entrée came. Barely any left to suggest we still wanted it on our tiny couple’s table. Wasn’t offered condiments for taco entrée, which is atypical.
— The taco meat seasoning lacked flavor. A 2^nd entrée’s meat was more charred than it should have been. My guy’s theory still holds up to this day. Sure enough, the «big guy» strolls in after our meal was over. Refer to 2^nd review for further clarification. New rule established: walk away if he isn’t behind the counter…

Bronx Best Kept Secret. Awsome AUTHENTIC Mexican food at a great price and amazing presentation. Considering Trying It. GO AHEAD you won’t be disappointed.

The price is not bad. The food is good. The only thing that has declined is the delivery time. I’m literally 5 blocks away from this place and their minimum delivery time is 50 mins. When you are unlucky that day, you get you food in an hour and a half when you already lost your craving.

The food here is clean, however the chicken tacos are a bit on the salty side. The drinks here are really good i had a really good tamarind margarita, highly recommend!

I ordered a chicken burrito with guacamole delivery on a cold cloudy day, and I’m being honest that I wish I could’ve carved out a space inside to take a nap in!
The chicken was so incredibly flavorful, which taquerias often ignore, since there are so many ingredients going on. I could taste the freshness bursting through as the main flavor. The rice, beans, guacamole were all key players in elevating this burrito. Great portion sizes.
The hidden surprise in my order was their hot sauce. This offered WAY more than simple heat. I could easily pick out the well defined smoky flavor of chipotles that I assume that they incorporate into the sauce.
I’m a pretty big guy and I was left satisfied and full! A full recommend to these guys! Can’t wait to try the other items on the menu.

Awesome food. Nice hole in the wall type of restaurant. Cute décor inside and our waiter was very nice also. All in all, a great experience.

The food is good. The place is quaint. Service is alright. The price is awesome. I recommend eating in house to get some of their nachos! I would eat just their nachos, it’s perfectly crunchy~ It’s that place you know you can depend on for good inexpensive full of flavor Mexican food.

I haven’t done much exploration on the west coast yet, but this is by far the best Mexican food I’ve had on the east coast. The burritos are everything they’re cracked up to be — I’ve had the spicy pork (my favorite) and the steak (also great) — and the chips and guac were also among the best I’ve ever had. My wife has typically ordered the tacos, and while those were great as well, the gap between them and the tacos you can typically get in Manhattan was much smaller than the enormous gap between their burritos and what you can get (or at least, what I’ve gotten) in Manhattan.
After discovering it recently, I went four times in the following month, including one time with a group of 8. After ordering eight burritos, a number of margaritas, a couple orders of guac, and some tacos for sides, it came to just over $ 20 per person, AFTER tax and tip. It’s honestly hard to eat at typical nyc Mexican places after experiencing such amazing food for such low prices. The area might make some Manhattan-​only people uncomfortable, and it is a long ride on the 6, but it is so, so worth it.

Get the Chorizo Burrito and sit back and prepare your body for the best wrap of Mexican perfection you could feast on.

After a long day me and my family decided to have some delicious Mexican food ,
We went to this restaurant (taqueria tlaxcalli) the food is good, the staff are nice, it was one of my favorite restaurants, I been there many times and I always have a good time, but today when we order the food we specific ask for tampiqueña (thick steak) but when the waitress brought it to the table it was a different meat, I ask her to please change it because that was not the steak we ordered, she accepted then the owner Mauricio came to my table and he was very rud and agressive, he wants us to pay extra for changing the meat or he will call the police, I was literally mad, that’s not the way to treat a customers.

I will honestly say I have had more issues with my orders, they sometimes forget an item but the food is just so damn good and they’re nice when I call back.
This is the best food I have ever eaten, this place needs to grow so they can handle all of the business they get. Support this place and tip well, such an authentic flavor.

Great little place! My husband and I went to the Bronx Zoo and were looking for something not far to grab, found this place on Unilocal.It’s a very casual, fun place. We got seated right away on a Sunday night around 6.
Great food, great service. Chips, salsa and guac were all very good. I got Chicken Tacos which were also very good, though could have used some salsa (should have asked for some). My husband had a Burrito with Carnitas which looked great and he said was delicious. If we lived in the area, we’d definitely go back.
Wouldn’t recommend it for large groups (no more than 4) as it is a bit tight in there and there’s really no where to accomodate. Great date night or small girls night spot.

Even though this place does not have a letter grade yet, I am still confidently giving this place 5 stars.
The food and service are incredible alongside with the prices. They also do offer take out. My bf and I have taken out before and it usually takes 15mins to get our food.
For sit down service, it does take a little bit longer for some reason, but no worries they offer complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. We ordered the chips and guac. as an appetizer for $ 7 (I think) and we decided to split a burrito (usually around $ 8). On a normal day we could each order one and completely devour it. It is a fair portion per person, but on that day we had a dinner to attend so we decided to split it. They guac and burrito are just delicious!!!
The place itself is very small and not very fancy looking but for a lunch date on a sat its perfectly fine. The staff is absolutely great! Friendly. I prefer this burrito over chipotle any day!

This place is a gamechanger.
I ordered guacamole and a chicken burrito. Absolutely delicious. This has set the bar for burritos and guacamole exponentially higher! The guacamole was fresh and flavorful and the tortilla chips were handmade. The chicken burrito got everything right. Great portion size and VERY delicious. Truly authentic Mexican cuisine.
The prices are reasonable. Service was wonderful. I will definitely be back!

I LOVE LOVE this hole in the wall!!! Truly a Bronx gem !!! Mexican food like mama and papa cooking on the kitchen.

FOOD: food is so tasty! Very homey like. You get a lot of food then your average amount. Practically ordered everything on the menu its all tasty. For my coffee lover’s — order a cup or two of the Mexican coffee you wont be disappointed.
OVERALL: you get your money’s worth here. Ate here about 4−6times in a 6month period. So you know it has to be good if i keep going back.

I can’t believe how good this hole in the wall restaurant is. Enchiladas with green chiles. Authentic taste like you are in Santa Fe. Really rare in the northeast. Home made chips and salsa. See my pictures.

Just incredible burritos. We went (table of two) here on a Friday night and it was crowded, but got seated right away. Their guacamole is super simple and delicious (and you get a lot of it!). The real treat is watching all the guys in the kitchen working away making the most delicious burrito I’ve had in New York. I had the steak and tried part of the chicken burrito and both were delicious and bursting with flavor. I would highly recommend it.

Hands down best Mexican restaurant in the Bronx.
Affordable and they have delicious guacamole. Perhaps the best in the area.
The burritos are huge and very filling. I have not been here in a while, but this is surely a family favorite.

The food here was very good as well as the service. I admire how they tie a ribbon/​bow around the napkins and utensils; it looks very thoughtful and adds color. The restaurant is decorated nicely and illustrates an authentic Mexican environment; lots of vibrant colors and good music. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The salsa was a tad bit too spicy although we requested a milder flavor.
We tried a burrito, tacos and coconut flan for dessert. They even gave us Coca-​Cola in the glass bottle, which was a great surprise! All of the food, drinks and dessert we ate were very filling and tasty.
At the end when you receive the check, they also give you small pieces of gum which was a kind gesture and also very thoughtful. I love the effort that they put to bring customer satisfaction both on the plate as well as interpersonally.

This place is literally a hole in the wall. After a night at Yankee Stadium, I was starving and was craving tacos. I was bit skeptical when we arrived at the location but once I got inside I knew that I was in for a pleasant surprise!
I ordered the chicken fried tacos, the chorizo taco, a goat taco, and the steak burrito. Everything was so delicious, not to mention, beautifully plated.
The prices were so affordable and the food was well worth it. It’s more of a casual dining experience and it’s a great spot to check out with friends. At the end of dinner, they even gave us Mexican gum with our bill.
Overall, it was great dining experience and I’d definitely check it out again.
