This place is variable when it comes to quality of the food and service. Some days you can get an awesome sandwich with plenty of toppings, and pretty quickly too. Other days, they are super skimpy and the wait is way too long for what you order. Rarely order from this place anymore because it’s starting to be more of the latter experience rather than the former.

You can go through any deli in the United States, and you will not encounter a worse experience than the one you’ll get at Simon’s Deli. It took them 2 ½ hours to deliver our food(it was snowing, but that does not excuse such a long delay). When we called to check on our order, everybody who picked up was both rude and shady, refusing to give us the delivery man’s number until we threatened to cancel(which we definitely should’ve). They then gave us the wrong number to call and we were just playing cat and mouse for the better of an hour. By the time the food came, almost everything was cold and they didn’t even get our drinks right. They offered to compensate us with a «free bagel,» as though they think we’d be dumb enough to patronize this place any further. The food itself, besides being cold, was overly salty and soggy. Of course, nothing was more bitter than the service I got from the people working there. This place needs new leadership, and it needs it fast.

I used to love getting my salads here. They fill to the top with ingredients & taste good. But then they hired a new lady & the bowl was barely half full. They didn’t taste or look half as good as before. At one point they only had like 5 different toppings so I stop buying altogether. I then tried out their sandwiches trying to give this place another chance & was so disappointed. They charged be about 10 dollars for just ham & cheese on two slices of wonder bread, no roll or hero, BREADSLICE. No Mayo, no lettuce, no tomatoes, no nothing. For $ 10 that’s a ripoff honestly. The staff is pretty good ppl except that one new lady(all of them are men but her). I won’t come in here anymore. Maybe only for their milkshake which are pretty good

I tried to give this place a chance. I really tried. Last 2 times I ordered a salad there was a hair inside of the salad. In both ironically. The prices are way too high. This place is mediocre. There is absolutely nothing fancy or astonishing to make the prices this high. I also ordered a turkey and cheese on a roll before and it came out to almost 10 dollars. These people are out of their mind. At least give us good food for the price.

When living in the area, Simons was my go to pig out spot. I highly recommend the Dirty South Burger. And when you don’t want to eat a lot, their made to order salads are great. People complaining about it taking too long to get food probably walked in and didn’t order ahead. They do so much take out and delivery, that their counter service does leave a lot to be desired. I always called ahead of time and never had an issue.

This is a regular place I like to go to, to enjoy just about everything. I mainly go for the salad! You put a whole bunch of different stuff on your salads. I use to hate eating salads til I came here. They have a ton of different sandwiches, burgers, salad toppings that are fresh and even breakfast foods. Cons– –A bit pricey. –Tiny space. Not many seats. –Sometimes crowded with college students. Pros– –Clean –Friendly staff –Great food –Healthy options –Large portions

I only come here for 1. milkshakes, 2. bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and 3. sweet potato fries. these items are consistent. I’ve had salads and burgers here before and they’re fine but nothing special. the quality of the burgers I’ve had has been rather inconsistent which is why I stopped getting them here. although I’ve never had a real problem with the food, the service is embarrassingly awful and therein lies the reason for my low rating. the staff is friendly but completely incompetent. forget trying to get anything here in under 15 minutes unless its coming straight out of their fridge. it takes them FOREVER to do anything and often(unless you’re paying sharp attention) your food will just be sitting there on the counter for ages until they remember to give it to you. it’s a bit of a joke really. I get that this place has been around forever and serves fordham students and local police(there are always cops getting lunch here) blah blah blah but to be honest it kind of sucks. I only come here if nothing else is open that can give me what I want. food: 3.5 stars service: 1 star

Warning: Never come to Simons on the weekend and expect a quick meal. The food is your average deli food, but the service is what really brings this place down to two star level. I’m currently sitting in Simon’s waiting for a bacon egg and cheese, and have been doing so for the past hour. I’m not even sure if they have the order and are working on it. It’s chaotic and everyone is running and around and doesn’t seem to be doing much more than adding orders to the already extensive list. Very unhappy with today’s service. I hope I get my food.

The burgers are great and around 8 – 9 $ for a large burger and pound of fries. The burger can last two meals and a perfect for a drunk college student.

Yesterday, I ordered three mixed green salads for my colleagues and I. The lettuce was black and wilted as well as the cucumbers were so old that they were clear. The manager offered one dollar off in the future.

I call, get told to hold on one second, am sitting there on the phone for 5 minutes listening to the staff laugh and joke with each other and ignore me, they totally forget I’m there and I have to call back, and now its been over an hour and my food still hasn’t arrived. great customer service, Simon’s! hasn’t changed much since I was a student I see.

Yeah service is slow but a Simon burger can keep me fed for 3 days they’re so big. They’re shakes are pretty good too. It’s a good delivery spot for college kids and they’re always consistent with their food. Get the you don’t know jack burger.

This is a college kid food haven. Food here is average. Makes good chicken cutlet sandwiches, everything else is just okay. Delivery service is mediocre. It takes an an hour and 30 minutes average to deliver simple things: bagels, milkshakes, salads. It takes about 2 hours to deliver anything that takes prep time, very unreliable.

This place is not very good. The food is ok. Do not get a burger though unless you want to be on the toilet all night. Every time I ordered deliver they would be over an hour. Every time I ordered to pick up I would get there and they would either be just making my food or had forgot to make my order all together. I do not recommend this place to many people. The only decent thing in there is the salad bar they have.

Nice place to go for lunch, if you beat the crowd. The place can get pretty busy. I don’t particularly like their debit card min. Of $ 10 but what can you say?

Well they just lost me as a customer… Forget the fact that there’s 4 people working here at 8 am, I was the only customer and it still took an absurdly long time to make a simple breakfast sandwich. They forgot my order! How do you just forget to make your only customers order? Then when you make the order it comes out wrong. Now take that into consideration and add in the fact that the counter person went and handled the food after taking my money. No gloves, no hand washing, straight to the food. Sorry Simon’s but there’s no coming back from this one.

Food has been good the past few times I’ve had it. The burgers are huge and there’s a really good selection of them. It’s great for the price. I usually end up making it two meals. They do need a better system for taking orders. When it’s busy they seem very disorganized and it causes unnecessarily waiting.

I’ve lived around the corner from Simon’s Deli for four years now, and every time I go, I am extremely disappointed and/or angry. One time I ordered a chocolate milk shake and a cheeseburger for delivery. When it came, I drank the chocolate milk shake and immediately noticed that they must not have cleaned the blender out thoroughly enough and that must have been residual peanut butter in the blender(from their reese’s milk shakes). This lack of care made me extremely sick(it could have killed somebody… luckily, I’m sensitive to peanuts but not deathly sensitive to miniscule amounts). People nowadays should be aware of the severity of peanut allergies and should maintain upmost cleanliness when dealing with such products. I stopped going to Simon’s for a long time until today I walked past and decided to give it another chance. I ordered a bacon, egg, potato and cheese breakfast burrito. When it came out, it was covered in beans. Upon looking at the menu again, I discovered that I failed to look at the bottom of the burrito section where it says«all burritos are covered with chili and cheddar cheese.» I was very irritated since the notification was rather unconscionable, so I asked if there was any way they could make me another one. The cashier told me they would have to ask the manager, who was standing right next to him facing away from me(must have been doing something). He should his head«No» and walked away. I understand if they didn’t want to make me a new burrito since technically it was my fault, but the fact that he wouldn’t even look at me and take responsibility as the manager was asinine. Simon’s has extremely poor service and I can honestly say that I hate many of the people who work and run the place. I can’t believe it got 4 stars on Unilocal. This is the first time I’ve written a review on Unilocal and I did so because I would love to see a new, better run establishment take Simon’s place. Very unlikely though, as it’s probably doing quite well for itself since it’s location is great(next to Fordham University).
