This place is good for one thing and one thing only… beer. Other than that, its horrible. It is dank and dirty and the produce is horrible. The people at the cash register have to be the most miserable and useless people in any supermarket on earth.

If you need 24 plantains and a gallon of Mazola, this is the spot to go to. Otherwise, it’s sorely lacking in everything else. The produce is what I would expect to find in a dumpster. Lots of it is overpriced and not even worth a second glance. The staff is quite rude and so are the customers. I’ve seen a number of bottles of olive oil still on the shelf that have gone rancid and coagulated. It’s frankly disgusting and should probably be closed down by the health department. This is the kind of place that you go to when you’re desperate for a box of cereal and some questionable milk. It’s almost like playing Russian roulette. The only merit it has is the parking lot which it shares with the Laundromat next door. And I don’t have a car, so really it doesn’t mean much to me. Plus, if you do have a car, why don’t you just drive to Garden Gourmet or Super Stop n Shop or something? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Now that Foodtown has reopened, the neighborhood has a great supermarket to go to and can abandon the awful presence that is Pioneer. I don’t think I will be stepping foot in there any time soon.

Produce is rarely decent, bad attitudes at the register, the place smells funny, and most everything else there is overpriced. I have yet to find a decent market walking-distance from anywhere in bedford park
