Modell’s Sporting Goods

Went to this location to find a waterproof hoodie. I didn’t see any upstairs, so I headed downstairs and found one in the clearance section. There were at least 5 others because I had to sort through them to find my size. The sign above clearly said $ 15. I head to register and the hoodie instead rings up as $ 33.60. I tell the cashier that I found it in the clearance section with others in the $ 15 section. She informs the manager (for the record, she was great) whose name is Eamon about the error. He is running around doing other things and at times ignores the cashier altogether. Another employee (an asst. manager it seemed) went to check and saw that indeed, they were in the section, even though they should not have been and she was going to let me have it for that price as it was the store’s fault.
This Eamon character gets in her face, attempting a whisper, I guess, and says «It’s rining up as $ 33, so that’s the price.» and the assistant manager says, «But the sign says $ 15.» He then says «There is no sign.»
WTF is that? The cashier apologized and I left, stunned that someone would really go out of there way to be such a dick about the situation. If you can’t do the price, fine, but don’t insult my intelligence by claiming that the sign isn’t there when others confirmed it. I’ll be making a call to their HQ ASAP.

I am giving this review solely off the service. I had ordered a treadmill from Amazon that sucked and I had thrown out the box before testing it so when I needed another box so I can return it, I went to Modell’s to see if they had any extra ones. When I went in the guard referred me to the manager who was super friendly and very helpful. He provided me a well sized box at no charge and even carried it upstairs for me. He asked me how I was getting it home I said I would try a cab and he arranged for someone to bring it to the house… Once again free of charge! The person who brung it an hour later did not seem like a worker but I did not bother to ask questions. I was just glad to get the box and the hospitality. He sent me a note as well that next time I should go to his Modell’s when I want to purchase things like that. I agree!

Great place for all your sports shopping needs… I love the new nike pro sale they have going on. I don’t know when the sale ends, but they’ve had it for a couple weeks now so I’m guessing it’s coming to an end soon.

Very organized considering its location. it’s a limited selection in comparison to the other modells the city has. A lot of Yankee gear, limited in the range of sneakers, but good none the less.
