Lorraine’s Bar & Grill

Great place, great people definitely I recommend this place, if you want to have a nice time with a wonderful crowd… This is definitely my favorite place in the Bronx, mature & beautiful people.

Went here on a Saturday for the 1^st time, we had to pay a $ 10 cover which was fine I guess because they had a live band. The place had a nice ambiance cute lighting. Bar was full they had a dance floor with some cocktail tables that we sat at. Ordered chicharron de pollo which were amazing, patelitos were good but they were bite size. The music was good if you love salsa because that’s all they played all night Salsa no mix. Had a good time dancing but be careful when your out there trying to break out your salsa moves it’s like a battlefield out there. Heels stomping, elbows flying, butts bumming lol. Drinks were good too. Overall I had a good time it’s a mature crowd here and everyone dances on 1 old school salsa just an FYI.

My hubby and I were invited to celebrate a mutual friend’s milestone Bday. We get to Lorraine’s and my hubby orders a Long Island Iced Tea, I didn’t try it, but he said it was watered down. I have to mention, that my hubby actually pointed someting out to me and showed me all their dark color rums were light in color –NOT GOOD.
My hubby knows a good cocktail when it gives him a buzz right away. We sat at the bar and since we got there a little early we ordered Chicharrones de Pollo w/​tostones and he orders Masitas de Cerdo w/​tostones. The Bartender brings out orders out and the tostones look like they’ve through hell and back.
People please… these tostones were bad! But anyway… We finished with our dinner and our friends came soon after. The Birthday Girl had arranged for her guests to have a corner area which Lorraine’s actually decorated really cute. There were 2 small table with balloons, glitter and cute pink and red hearts on them. The Salsa was really good and the spot nice.
I’m going for the 2 star rating because the food was mediocre and drinks were bad (watered down), other than that, music was good.

Went on a Saturday my first time here. There was a $ 10 cover charge due to the bar having a live band so I was told. The music was good but not spectacular. The place seems somewhat dated to me. As for the clientele, they are in the mature side with a handful of young women in the mix. Some who were VERY aggressive with the male clientele trying to get a free drink bought for them. I am not a hater I literally saw it happen. One male patron had to tell the girl to not sit on the bar seat because his girl was in the bathroom and he was not alone. She continued talking to him until he told her he wasn’t interested twice. The drinks were average no complaints. The ambience for me was just lacking. Honestly, this is a place I would only go if I lived nearby like literally in walking distance and had NO plans for the night. This is a Plan B to be kind but really a Plan C type of place. Given the cover charge and drink price, I would definitely go elsewhere to get a better vibe and be more entertained.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside I felt like i was transported to a Caribbean resort. Peaceful, good food (Italian). Chef prepares everything from scratch.
Was informed they have live bands on weekends, may have to check out.

I have been to Lorraine’s once and was going to back tonight out of sheer morbid curiosity. Why do I say that? Because the owner and his girlfriend were watching my friend and I like hawks. Troublemakers? Not in the least bit, we drank a beer each and were talking to the bar staff for a little while. Catching this, I was about to order another beer when my friend told me he was reading one of the small card flyers and put it back down on the bar, the owner walked over to him and shifted the flyer back in place. Really?
We went tonight, we each had a tough week and needed to unwind. We were turned down at the door because «on the weekend we have a dress code and sneakers are not allowed.»
What??? This is a BAR, in a secluded area, in the Bronx. You have 6 customers in your bar and watch them like hawks, and you have the audacity to turn down a couple of 40-​something clean cut guys because we have… SNEAKERS on? Sorry let me go back and get my shoes and gun, guess as long as you have shoes on you are okay to walk in.
0 stars for Lorraine’s, VERY unfriendly owner who makes his few patrons uncomfortable. Best of luck and am not wishing you bad at all, but keep this up and you will be out of business in no time.

Ok Lorraine’s Bar & Grill should be on the map as a LOCAL 4 STAR hang out. I went to their opening night w a friend of mine, and I must say, «Hell Yeah». It was awesome. The décor was basic, nothing over the top extravagant but very nice! The music was ON AND POPPIN for ANY crowd. Great drinks (not watered down), not too pricey pretty average. The crowd was cool and nice, very comfortable atmosphere. Everyone looked as though they were enjoying themselves. Me and my girls didn’t want to leave. I only give Lorraine’s 4 Stars because I didn’t try the food, the bathroom was too small otherwise based solely on the bar and music it would be a definate 5 star local spot. Good luck to them. I will be back!
