One of the best delis in NY. They catered an event at our apt. and all of the food was wonderful. All of our guests commented on how good the food was. Particularly, the tongue was mentioned as something special and all of the more popular sandwiches were really good. Can’t recommend Leibman’s more highly. Terry C

Seems to be going down hill. Last night I picked up the worst pastrami sandwich of my life. The meat was cut ¼ of an inch thick, there was so much hard fat that I could not chew it. Not to mention that this sandwich somehow came out to over $ 17, I really expected more. After 8 years of patronage, wont be going back.

Excellent Jewish deli. It was my good friend’s 65th birthday so, given a choice of restaurants, my friend chose Liebman’s as if it was fated. First we started with stuffed derma, which came with a nice side of gravy and it was great, clearly better than that from the kosher butcher. My wife was deciding between a turkey sandwich and the stuffed cabbage. The gentleman who helped us recommended the stuffed cabbage and, as someone who makes their own stuffed cabbage, this was clearly the best we have ever had in a restaurant. I ordered a combo pastrami and corned beef and the birthday boy ordered a triple combo of pastrami, corned beef and tongue — hey it was his birthday. All the meats were excellent, and came with a heaping bowl of cole slaw and pickles. Of course we washed all this down with Dr. Brown’s. Now, even after this repast, the birthday boy was still a little peckish and looking for dessert, something chocolate. So the gentleman who helped us suggested the chocolate fudge cake which we all enjoyed. It even had chocolate chips on the outside. Then, when we got home, I happened to look at the itemized bill and I saw that he never charged for the birthday boy’s chocolate cake. What a nice place.(And, oh, we never finished all of the sandwiches so we took the remaining home for lunch today).

Wanted to try an authentic New York Deli while I was in town and was not disappointed! The pickled herring was great as an appetizer. The sandwiches were HUGE. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Mazoh Ball Soup is great. Cured a flu in 24 hours. Comes with great, FREE rye bread. Semi-Sour Pickles are fresh, but a little under seasoned. Round Potato Knish is the best I’ve ever had. Bagel(not theirs, I bet) is terrible. Really just a bread roll with a hole in it.

I got 3 pastrami sandwiches and 2 knishes take out. Get down to Manhattan and try to eat this dog food. It was the worst deli I have had in my life — 62 years. The knishes were hard as a rock — could not be eaten. Pastrami was awful. Just garbage. This place is the worst. They stole $ 57 dollars from me– food I wouldn’t have given to a starving person. Do not go here. If I had been nearby I would have brought it back. I hope this place goes out of business. I have never taken time to give a bad review. This was the worst food and it wasn’t cheap. Go to loesers on 231st street. They have human food not the dog food I was served yesterday. Shut this place down! 0 stars — Arrest these people for serving this crap. Do not go here.

I was craving latkes so I ordered food for pick up. The service was rather – hmm, what are the words I’m looking for? – below par? Cashier had a loose t-shirt that looked like it hasn’t been washed in decades(stains everywhere). I asked if they had included ketchup with my order of fries and the response felt like a condescending«of course!,» like«how dare you ask?!» Once I got to my destination to eat, I was missing an item. I didn’t bother to follow up since they already had closed. The food was – well, food – just regular, nothing special. Perhaps it’s a different taste/experience eating at the restaurant.

A Great Local Gem. Slightly expensive so I took off a star. PROTIP: Bring a friend and ask for 2 slices of bread. Then split one of there amazing overstuffed sandwiches. All the food is authentic and amazing, as you woul expect.

This is the real deal. Walk in and take a whiff and if you grew up going to kosher delis, the kind where the hot dogs and knishes are on a grill right when you walk in the door, you will be transported to another time. Fortunately the food stands up — not only the traditional favorites but the more updated«Jewish» specialties like matbucha. For a real treat, save room for dessert and walk over to Mother’s, two doors down.

I’ve been living in Riverdale since 2007 and finally went to Liebman’s and yes, it was as amazing as my brother and his father in law have been saying for the past eight years. I got the matza ball soup and a spinach potato knish and both were amazing. Can’t wait to go back when I’m feeling better(have whatever cold is going around) to explore more of the menu.

I am so exited to be coming to the area so I can visit with friends & family. Everthing I have had, has never disappointed. I was reading the reviews on this site and actually laughed out loud when someone wrote a bad review. I laughed even harder when she complained about no cheese on the pastrami! Look forward to being there soon. I love that you remember which table we like to sit at!

If a diner and a deli had a baby, it would be this place. Old fashioned booths line the walls. Service is friendly and fast. But unlike a diner, you’re only going to get delicious Jewish staples here. And if you’ve got a problem with that — don’t come here! The BF and I enjoyed kreplach soup, a grilled hot dog that would put Nathan’s to shame, a pastrami/corned beef sandwich combo, and more. Good selection of Dr. Brown’s sodas. It is a family friendly place. Many tables had at least three generations at a time, noshing away together.

Had a Reuben sandwich for the first time tonight. It was the worst RS I’ve ever had. The rye bread tasted like cardboard, they left off the cheese. The pastrami was dry. And the supposedly hot and sour pickles just tasted like blah! I give this joint an F!

Love me some Liebmans. The best lean pastrami you can find anywhere! Great chopped liver appetizer w authentic matzoh ball soup. Great Kasha w pickles and slaw. A meal just like mom’s. My favorite deli by far and possibly my favorite restaurant. The service is good too. Friendly and on point. If you haven’t eaten here you’re missing out on true deli. Love me some Liebmans!

Great selection of sandwiches. Best and most lean pastrami ever! Katz is out, Liebman’s is IN! Will definitely come back with the family. Perfect size, not loud, good prices and very clean(i saw the A rating poster from the Dept. of Health on their window :) This is what a food destination should be like. Well done Liebman family!

In a time when kosher deli’s are almost gone. The people of Riverdale are most fortunate to have Liebman’s deli a wonderful throw back to what it was like years ago when you went to the local kosher deli. As you can tell I love this place go eat enjoy !

Every few months we have to go to Leibman’s for our deli fix. This week I went with my 19-year-old son for a quick bite. We usually go with my 21-year-old daughter, and the waiter actually remembered us and asked about my daughter! We each ate half our sandwiches and took the rest to-go. The pastrami and the chopped liver were excellent as always. I also ordered chicken salad sandwich with a Cel-Ray to go for my daughter. The waiter packed up the sandwiches, with the coleslaw and pickles on the table, and we happily left with our sandwiches in tow. Not cheap, but OHSOGOOD! Don’t miss Leibman’s, so worth the trip!

Knishes are okay. Yonah Schimmel’s is better. Appetizing selection of salads is good. Boyfriend’s sandwich was really big and messy. It’s nice they offer pickles and coleslaw. Classic kosher style deli. It’s a nice place in the neighborhood.

Great experience with the family at Leibman’s. It was nice to have authentic kosher deli with the family. I got the number 7, pastrami and corned beef on rye with Cole slaw and Russian dressing which was superb. The pastrami was one of the best I have ever had. My wife had the brisket which was also very good. The kids enjoyed the matzo ball soup and French fries. I will definitely be back when I go back to the Bronx. Two thumbs up!
