I stopped in for a cup of coffee. The owner is a sweet lady from italy named Anna who is very friendly and wants everyone to enjoy the visit. All the patrons were sitting enjoying talking to each other and Anna. I left with a cappuccino and a smile on my face. If I lived near by I would never go to anywhere like Starbucks. They don’t have regular brewed coffee which I am ok with because everything else is so great.

Ah… my favorite place in the neighborhood. Sweet lovely small Italian café in the whole neighborhood. You can hear people speak Italian in the store and it sounds so lovely… I thought I was in Italy haha. Their Gelato is excellent, smooth, enough sweet, and just melt in your mouth. Imagine on hot summer day, me and my sis come here to order 2 scoops of Gelato each and listen to all the lovely sounds. Time is stopped around here… sometimes you need this in NyC. I also had Frappuccino here, so strong I couldn’t sleep that night since I had it around evening… The owner and her daughter are very lovely and sweet, just like their Gelato hehe

As an admitted espresso snob, albeit a novice one, I am always on the lookout for a great espresso. Now, one would think that in the New York City area, given the gastronomic center of the universe that it is, it would be easy to get a great one. Alas, not only is it difficult, it is near impossible. Now, if your idea of a great espresso is the doppio they serve at Starbucks, then read no further for a doppio at Starbuck’s is not an espresso, but a smaller version of their tall coffee. Beyond Starbucks, I have tried many a good hipster coffee shop in the city with enough bearded twenty-something coffee snobs to fill Seattle. Some of those shops have good espresso, but still, not great. Now, if you want a great espresso, that of the life-changing type, that of the«I have to fly to Rome to get an espresso this good,» type, then order a single espresso from La Casa della Caffe in the Bronx. The first thing you will notice is that the portion you get is something akin to a shot. This is how it is supposed to be. The next thing you will notice is that when you pour in the sugar, it will hesitate for a number a seconds before descending through the think and rich crema layer that floats on top. This is supposed to happen, too. Finally, when you drink it, it will feel like a mini thick shake as it goes down. It will leave a taste on your tongue that you will hope stays forever. And you will not receive even a hint of bitterness. In fact, it will be velvety smooth. Yes, this is supposed to happen, too. And when you are done, you will ask for another because you will realize perfection like this does not happen often.

I was sluggish and opened up Unilocal and typed in COFFEE, tired of the watery deli stuff and no to the $$ Starbucks run. ordered a cappuccino only one size but it’s the PERFECT size I couldn’t even finish. Ordered a fresh cream croissant it was so flaky and delicious. Noticed someone in the reviews said they felt uncomfortable because they’re Spanish. I’m an afro-Latina, and I walked in to at least 12 Italian men having their morning espresso and I felt perfectly fine. Sweetest and quick service.

I come from Italy, and for the first few months I did not drink coffe in the USA, I felt bad, but when I found this place I’m reborn, every morning there to drink my amazing«espresso macchiato», and my day begins highly charged. The Ice Cappuccino is also very good, and they have a good selection of Italians cookies. Top Italian place !!!

Amazing places. The NY Tines was completely right, is the best coffee in NY. Is operated by the owners, very nice and sweet people. Very cozy ambiance, open until late. Is a hidden gem in the Bronx.

This is by far my favorite coffee shop! The owners are sweet and personable. The coffee is fantastic. And the ambiance makes you feel like your in Italy. In the morning Ana(the store owner) makes delicious croissants. Make sure you get there before they’re all gone. She makes cream and chocolate mostly. Cream is my favorite. You will find cappuccinos, espresso, macchiatos, and hot chocolate on a daily basis. When the weather gets warm you will find iced espresso and crema de café,(my favorite!), both are perfect refreshing summer options. In the winter this is a perfect place to get authentic coffee to warm you up and keep you going where you can either run in for a quick on the go beverage, or stay and chat. During the Summer this is a perfect place to grab a refreshing drink, chat inside or sit outside amongst the locals who are devoted and in love with La Casa del Café. For those who stay away from caffeine, you will find a stocked fridge with a lovely assortment of Italian nectar’s, juices, sodas, and waters. Oh let me not forget, wine. So come see what the locals rant and rave about. You won’t regret it!

First time visiting and I loved this place! The latte was delicious, as was the iced coffee creame(it was like an ice cream). The atmosphere was super friendly and it put a smile on my face as everyone walked in and said hello. I will definitely be back!

I have been living in Italy for quite a while so if I tell you this place is a typical Italian place — you can trust me. Good coffee and croissant, full of Italians(so it really means it is a really good place — italians are so picky about food and coffee). It is nice, I liked it and you really feel like being in Italy. For sure coffee is not cheap but it is a quality you have to pay for. Enjoy!

Some of the best coffee to be found in NYC! Ask any of the dozens of old Italian men to stop by for an authentic espresso every day. Seriously, this place is one of my favorite parts of living in the Bronx.

What a cool place to go! The inside of this store is small, but when you walk in there’s some tables as you approach the bar. The woman working was so friendly! A nice italian woman who worked with a smile. I had an espresso and after a granita. Both were delicious. The espresso was probably the best I ever had. The place was actually a little quiet for a few minutes so the owner came and sat with my friend and I and chatted. It was a very pleasant experience! It’s not close to me, but I hope to come by again sometime for sure! Ciao!

A truly unique Italian, old world style café’ shop. Unsurpassed espresso and other drinks, from April to October they also serve various flavors of the finest gelato. My mother passed away 3 years ago and the last 4 months of her life, she survived on the hazelnut flavored. During Christmas and Easter holidays you may find some great imported panettone, other sweets and beautiful gift baskets. This is the type of Café’ that the Starbucks of the world wish they could be. Service is fast, courteous, attentive and after served, you can relax and savor your drinks and sweets at one of the tables. Last year they had tables and service in a garden setting in the back of the establishment, with an occasional musical event. Love the place and I stop by as often as possible.
