I came here because this place had great reviews in nearby pizza places. After having pizza here, I would say, I’ve actually had better slices elsewhere. Next time I here, I’ll not try this place but rather try some other place but not this one. The seating area also felt congested to me.

We’ve lived in the neighborhood for 28 years and have tried many of the pizza places, even on Morris Park. But John & Joe’s always comes out on top if you like doughy pies heavy on the toppings, which we do! Delicious.

My husband is a fan of there salad pizza, I am not a pizza lover so I don’t really enjoy this place. I have tried there white pizza and it was really soggy and not good. Good review is for my husband’s sake.

Not only are there garlic knots the best you’ve ever had — they’re also the cheapest! At 10 for a buck I don’t honestly understand how anyone in this city never goes hungry! They have a lot more than just pizza. While their Pizza is very good, and their white slices are amazing, the other things like the shrimp parmesan comma with the chicken cordon bleu must not be missed! They get busy as hell at times, and parking can be a real bitch — but rest assured –it’s worth it! Credit cards accepted, delivery available(although only to a small area sadly).

Best garlic knots in the Bronx, there fried to perfection and have a pure real garlic flavor, and at 10 for a $ 1 you can’t go wrong, plus there open till 1 in the morning.

Every once in a while I make the trip to this corner pizza shop simply because they have great pizza. Very good pizza. I actually go through the trouble of traffic; and NO parking at night just to get this pizza. Another reason this spot rocks is because the Service ROCKS! Always good to be around people who like there job(or act like it) and good to be around people who bring forth positive energy. The reviews do not lie in this case. I’m trying not to give just any spot 5 stars but this shop deserves it. Consistency and Service goes a long way when I review. It’s one of those places that if you want to introduce NY pizza to somebody this is a sure bet.

Great slices. The crust is pretty soft, but in a good way. They manage to chewy yet structurally sound. The slice selection is relatively limited, so don’t come expecting anything too exotic, but for plain, pepperoni, and Sicilian, look no further. Very friendly service too.

Working In this neighborhood, I was in search of the best pizza slice. Seeing all the glowing reviews of this joint, I just had to try it. When I first arrived, I noticed it looks very divey. I thought it was a great sign! There are iconic symptoms of this place’s divey-ness including but not limited to, the little framed photos hung everywhere. The slices are ok. I’ve actually had better slices elsewhere. Next time I work in this neighborhood, I’ll drive a few more blocks to Napoli pizza which I think has the best original slices in this neighborhood. The plain slices here actually remind me of Airways in East Elmhurst, Queens. What they have in common is many of their specialty slices are just toppings thrown on a plain slice. The stuffed spinach slice is actually really good. But to me it tastes very greasy and decadent. My dad ordered it, said it looked like a «heart attack», and then asked if he could switch slices with me. Gee, thanks dad. The seating area feels kind of gritty to me. Not quite literally but I feel like it could stand to be cleaner. Also, half the tables did not have any napkins in the dispensers. Finally, while this is not the pizza joint’s fault, all the parking meters on the block were either full or malfunctioning. They ate two quarters of mine without producing any pay tickets. The slices here are ok, but I won’t be coming back. From the great reviews, I had expected more and was a bit underwhelmed.

The shrimp parmigiana calzone is absolutely delicious. I bought one as it was coming straight out of the oven. The chunks of breaded shrimp were meaty, the mozzarella was fresh and plentiful and the dough was soft and so moist. It’s so fulfilling that I can only finish one half it, so I get two meals out of it.

John and Joe’s has always been my go-to. I have loved them forever. Today for lunch I got a burnt pizza. A rare misstep.

Sometimes the food here is delicious but sometimes it’s just… blah. I still give this place the credit it is due, it’s a neighborhood staple that’s bound to have a bad night every once in awhile. The pizza is great and so is the pasta. I’d drink the sauce like soup if I could! The salad could be improved with less iceberg lettuce. They aren’t petty about the garlic knots and I always get several extra!

There are 4 items that I tend to order often… 1– Chicken Caesar Salad: it’s SO good! The dressing is delicious but always order extra dressing because one is not enough for the size of the salad! 2– I love their beef patties with cheese and cocoa bread 3– Cheese Dogs 4– Stuffed pizza with meat

I’ve been coming to John and Joes so many years, I’ve lost count. They were always the greatest pizza in the Bronx for me. But for a long while, it’s changed drastically. Ordering from here now, I’ve come to accept its either hit or miss. First, I thought it’s maybe whoever is making the pizza that night I called, maybe I got the same guy. Then, I figured oh maybe it’s ’cause they’re busy so they are in rush. Then I just kinda realized, I need to stop defending John and Joes from all the friends who tel me it sucks now. My review is based on my last three deliveries. The first one, I opened my pizza box to notice some type of small insect crawling in the corner of box.(see photo) –but it’s John and joes, they refunded me, years spent with them, I still love them I thought. My second delivery, I had to wait over an hour and a half before I called them and was told the delivery guy went to wrong address. All the way opposite my direction. I cancelled because my food was now cold. Third delivery a week after second, about 4−5days ago, I tried again. Time and destination were good. The food, was a total miss. We ordered garlic knots with sauce on side. Immediately, we noticed something wrong with sauce as soon as we pulled it out. It was watery, no flavor or spices. Tasted like straight out of can. Was same on my pizza. I was very disappointed. I’m sure I will go back ’cause I’ve been going there my whole life. I know I’ll be more disappointed than happy each time but there’s still that hope I hold on to. Just not for a while at this time.

Best Pizza Spot in NYC. 2 large pies to go. The staff was extremely friendly and service was fast. They provide plates and all seasoning amenities without asking and they tie it all up in a nice bow. The plus: They gave us garlic knots on the HOUSE! They tasted great too. BUT it’s the pizza, that sauce is so unique, I’ve never had a sauce like it. You don’t need ant condiments for this pizza, I swear. Just try it and let me know. Can’t wait to come back!

I’m confused by the glowing 5-star reviews. Unilocalers, you have led me astray. The tasteless dough made everything taste off and no amount of added spices helped. Got 1 cheese slice(~$ 3), 1 stuffed meat slice(~$ 6) and 10 garlic knots($ 1). Cheese slice: the dough tasted like bland matzah. The sauce is flavorful. The cheese is average. The crust seriously brought the whole dish down. Stuffed meat slice: the mixture of meats is actually quite tasty. Surprised to find canned mushrooms in the mix. Again, the bad crust. Garlic knots — were stale, crunchy and dry on top of the tastelessness. I now understand why it was 10 for $ 1. The workers were busy but at least friendly. Side note: the guy manning the ovens was also prepping the sub rolls. He scored the bread with a knife, then dug his ungloved hands/nails into it to rip it open. He then scraped out some of the bread with his ungloved nails. I don’t recall seeing him wash his hands the entire time we were sitting and eating. Ew. Our search for the best Bronx slice continues…
