I lived up in the Bronx for just over a year way back when and this is the only place I remember by name. Its a diner. And its kind of all-over the place. Sometimes the food was great diner food but other times you could tell the cook had just stopped trying. But he looked bleak on those days so after a while I learned when to just get a coffee. Also they were the only place that was open in my neighborhood on a freezing Christmas and I remember the breakfast was perfect that morning. So give them a try. If it isn’t good go on another day when the cook doesn’t look despondent.

Unfortunately this placed closed down a couple of months ago. I like the food and the Ambiance, that and it’s one of the few places to sell a Bison burger.

My experiences here were just on a family basis. The diner itself is nice and folksy looking, but since this place is often overlooked by most of the newer establishments, it’s very empty and quiet. The food itself is quite good, then again, I’m only speaking for my regular order(french toast, bacon, and hot chocolate) which is prepared with quite a lot of care. If you’re looking for a classic haunt, then this is your kind of place.

I went here for the first time, the place is big but lonely. Only saw one person working besides the cashier. We ordered something that was suppose to be special or specific to that place. It wasn’t good, it was really bland, tasted like nothing, it looked good but it wasn’t. I was disappointed.

I came here for breakfast, and the food was uneventful. I had a spinach omelette and home fries. The egg was bland, with no flavor. The home fries were a bit cold, and there was a FRENCHFRY in my HOMEFRIES! It seems like they keep all the potatoes together, or cook them together, and it was weird. My girlfriend had waffles with ice cream and whipped cream. There was nothing special about it. No expert texture, no perfect flavor, it was just okay. The waitress we had seemed very busy. I have been to other diners, such as Big Daddy’s and Good Stuff Diner, and their food was awesome. This one was just okay. There was nothing special about it to make me want to go back.

This place is a trip! It’s your typical diner right down to the outdated décor and the dirty carpeting. Memories of Mel’s Diner come to my mind when I think of this place. During my first visit our waitress decided she was too sick to work and sat at the counter working on applying a fresh coat of make-up.(She reminded me of the character Flo. I think she may have been trying to give herself a pick-me-up.you know… if I look better I will feel better!) But before she took to her comfy stool she was having a shouting match with an older Greek guy who may have been the owner. What’s funny about this is that he obviously could not handle her and kept threatening to call his son. All while they were busy kicking something back and forth at one another behind the counter. We finally trapped an overworked and overwhelmed waiter who had not caught on to the fact that all of her customers how now become his responsibility. He was the«Vera» of the bunch.) Once he took our orders the food came out pretty quickly. Huge unhealthy portions which tasted great! When we couldn’t find our male«Vera», we were able to snag the hard working, nice waitress in the back… She would be the character of «Alice». Right about when we were finishing up our«heart attack waiting to happen» breakfast, in walks the son and the fireworks began! «Flo jumped up off of her seat(her quick recovery was truly an amazing event to behold), and after a few threats from the son(he would be «Mel») and full serving of attitude from«Flo», she quickly went back to work where she treated her customer who were obviously her regulars, like crap… but in a fond family type way.) The last thing I heard from«Flo» as we walked out the décor was her telling a crying 5 year old who was acting up, «Don’t try that with me honey, I am not your mother!» as his mother sat there nodding her approval to «Flo» Ahhhh, I will definitely be back! :)

This is an Old school dinner ran by this Greek old man for many years on Castle Hill Avenue. They make all the stuff a dinner supposed to make and they make it good! The inside is not fully updated, but it is fairly large, staff is very friendly and on point with your orders. The only issue is the parking. Castle Hill Avenue is always swarming with traffic cops and parking is hard to come by especially with the bus stop right in front of the diner!
