Since my last review I believe this location has a majority new staff. Maybe the complaints became unbearable. The workers are much more pleasant and the food even tastes better. I had an oxtail meal the other day and was pleasantly surprised. I stop in almost every morning for porridge on my walk to the subway. Just wish they opened a little earlier.

No stars… Rude staff, food is bland, beef patties are always burnt… That’s it. I love how one employee said something in Jamaican patios like I didn’t I understand, I’m half Jamaican dumb ass. She lucky I was tired & didn’t curse her ass out. Fire to this golden krust… If you want real Jamaican food, there a spot on St. Lawrence & Whitlock. Legit cooked good food not frozen shit. Fuck golden krust. Suck my dick

Real unfriendly spot for a residential neighborhood. Portions are adequate based on who is serving.

The food here taste great! But the portion size is in adequate. I love oxtails, but only 6 came in a dinner size order, with a huge portion of rice($ 12.50). The sad part is you really dont know that you have been literally«jerked» until you get home due to the over-kill of gravey they pour on the rice which camouflages the entire plate. The young ladies inside could benefit from some customer service training as they are not welcoming and very chatty with acquaintances and each others.

I was interested in trying this place since I am living in the area temporarily and was in the mood for some jerk. Being that this is a chain restaurant, I wasn’t expecting top-notch food, but it was about the lowest level of edible I have had. I ordered a jerk chicken patty and the curried goat combo. The patty was dry and probably had been sitting all day, and the filling had the consistency of refried beans. I was able to locate two small strands of what looked like chicken meat in it once I got to the small gob of filling in the center — it was mostly just dry bread. The goat was unlike anything I’ve had… probably because I’ve never had goat. As soon as I opened the container it came in I was a little nervous to start eating it. There was a huge portion of everything(you don’t need to order the large combo — small is plenty sufficient, and I like to overeat), but it was festering in this oddly-colored sauce that was oozing a neon-green oil into the Styrofoam. It literally was the color of yellow highlighter ink. I don’t get bothered too much by iffy looking food usually, so I went ahead and ate it. It was lukewarm and had a very strange smell and flavor. The meat was very tender, but there were a lot of chunks of bone and fat in it. I believe that’s common for curried goat, as is a yellow color, but it threw me off and I was worried I would get sick from eating it. It’s been about a half hour and I still feel okay. The Pepsi lever on the fountain wasn’t working, so I got fruit punch mixed with ginger ale. The ginger ale wasn’t working either apparently because it was completely uncarbonated. The servers were very friendly, but I wouldn’t come back. If I did, I would definitely not order the curried goat. You’re better off going to Taqueria Tlaxcalli a little ways down the street. It’s phenomenal and the tacos are CHEAP!

I found this Golden Krust when I moved to Parkchester South Condos in the Bronx some years back from Kingsbridge Rd area in the Bronx and was glad I found it. I am a vegetarian and I like their vegetable patties, along with their cakes, breads and Caribbean sodas. I have been a regular customer of Golden Krust all over New York for many years but this Parkchester one is a little bit odd for me because they seem to run out of veggie patties way before they close for the day. Today was a different but odd experience at this place for me because around 6.45PM Saturday I stopped by and bought 2 veggie patties and the sales lady asked me if I came yesterday and that she recognized me and I said that I was there about 2 – 3 days back and that they were out of veggie patties for which she replied nonchalantly, with all her wisdom, like making a big statement, that she would rather not have something in stock and the customer leave and come back another day rather than her having to throw her food away ! She actually said«I don’t want to throw MY food away». I don’t know if she is the owner or manager or a sales person what. but she was extremely indifferent. There were 2 other sales people behind the counter with her and 2 other lady customers buying stuff. I was so surprised at such talk and ignorance from her. I am a small business owner of a store myself and we do everything we can to please and be respectful to our customers. We ourselves do not want to waste or throw food away but at the same time we would rather make an extra breakfast biscuit etc for the customer lest the customer comes in and is disappointed for not getting what HE/SHE wants, and what HE/SHE came for, and what HE/SHE expected to find at my business and maybe even take his/her business elsewhere next time. Of course my business is not in NY. Once again in NY there seems to be this unique rudeness and indifference at some places and by a few untrained and rude and indifferent sales people where the motto seems to be: «If not you, someone else will bring me their business». Anyway the lady went on talking about not making a fresh batch of food to be wasted etc etc. Very unprofessional and out of place. If she is really the owner I would feel very uneasy to go into this Golden Krust next time. I have to truthfully mention that I have been to this place many many times before and have not experienced this kind of rudeness or unnecessary argumentative behaviour. The veggie patties I bought were delicious as usual, but my mood was not.
