Golden City Restaurant

The food merits 2 or 3 stars. I’ve never seen the inside of the place, and based on reviews here I don’t think I want to. The General Tso’s Chicken was decent and so were the cold sesame noodles. The reason I decided to go with 2 stars instead of 3 is that they MAY have been responsible for a fraudulent charge on my credit card. I can’t prove anything, but later that day a $ 250 purchase at Walmart was attempted using my credit card, and it sure didn’t come from me. I gave these guys my credit card number over the phone so they’re my prime suspects. Having said that, I will order from them again, but only if I have cash.

This place is horrible they do not deliver and after you make payments with your card they call you and tell you that you have to stop payment because they do not deliver. It is horrible and I will never order from this place again. I believe this place should be shut down. The young lady that called me was very rude and didn’t even apologize she yelled at me told me that they didn’t deliver! and slam there went the phone. Horrid experience!

Golden City is excellent for what it is: cheap, greasy, crave-​creating chinese food. I order a different dish everytime and am never disappointed: lo mein, chow mein, sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, spare ribs and anything else a Fordham student may crave. They have good hours, low minimum and a quick, reliable delivery. They have the best dumplings and soup I have ever tasted, and am prone to order several orders and quarts and stock up (they reheat well). After much consideration, I can endorse Golden City as my go-​to chinese joint.

Im not a huge fan of Americanized Chinese food, but I will give this restaurant 4 stars, because they are awesome when it comes to customer service and prompt delivery!
Ive ordered large dishes to serve a large crowd of folks, and they alws make sure to include everything!
The General Tso’s is good, the Lo Mein excellent (not too greasy which is RARE!!!). I usually get Veggies with garlic sauce, and it makes my day for sure!
If you’re in the Fordham Area, this is a great place for that study-​time food fix!

Everyone at Fordham has their own go-​to Chinese delivery place. There are tons of them in the surrounding area — Nice Food, Lucky Coming, No. 1 Luck Sang, Szechuan, Mr. Q’s, and so on. They pretty much all taste the same and have the same menu. They’re all greasy, generally mediocre Chinese food that isn’t great, but it will satisfy your craving for some General Cho’s in a pinch. There is generally very little to distinguish them. Golden City is pretty much just another Fordham-​area Chinese Food Takeout Place, but for whatever reason, it’s MY Fordham-​area Chinese Food Takeout Place.
There are a few (emphasis on few) factors that distinguish Golden City from the rest of the cookie-​cutter Chinese places in the area. First, the fantail shrimp is awesome. It’s a big shrimp fried into a big, greasy ball of dough. It’s crazy, it’s dirty, it’s decadent, and it’s delicious. For a while, Golden City didn’t stock it even though it was on their menu, but my roommates and I kept asking for it, and now they always have it. That’s good customer service. Second, they are pretty easy-​going when it comes to the delivery minimum — even if you don’t reach the $ 8 minimum, as long as you are close they will usually deliver. Their specials are good, and unlike other places, they will not renege on their promise to provide a free soda or egg roll if you spend enough money (off the top of my head, I think it’s $ 10 or $ 15). Also, the delivery guy is the man, and he can make change for large bills if necessary (yes, we have paid for Golden City with a hundred).
I wish I could give Golden City another star, because I’ve always enjoyed their food. Even though their customer service is good and their food is a little better than the average Bronx Chinese place, in the greater scheme of things they just don’t merit more than three stars. That said, if you’re looking for a Chinese takeout place around Fordham to make «yours,» give Golden City a try.

I’m in love with this place. I have seriously ordered from this place, like, at least once a week for the last couple of months since my little freshman friends introduced me. I am *obsessed* with their steamed dumplings. I refuse to order from this place unless we get the steamed dumplings. My boyfriend and I ordered last night, and he complained that the pork fried rice had, «too many vegetables,» so take that as you will. I love it. I admit that sometimes they take a long time to deliver (the longest was about an hour), but my college ass finds it well worth the wait at midnight.

When I went to Fordham, this was my Chinese delivery of choice, because the food was always good, delivery was quick, and you can get a lot for under $ 10.
