If you ever watch a game at Yankee Stadium, save yourself the $ 20 hot dog/fries heartburn and go to this place. This place is worth the one block walk down the street. Incredible Jamaican meal for a great price, and really nice service. Started with jerk chicken wings. Spicy and flavorful. Then had steaming hot beef patties. The dough was less flaky than we are used to, but it has such a nice chewiness that it grew on us. Ended with the best dish ever… but be warned, you must like seriously spicy food. There is a lot of habanero action in this last one… The pepper shrimp with rice and peas and a side of cooked vegetables was so savory. Yes, the vegetables were savory. It all comes out simply prepared, home cooking style. The ambience is also very informal, decent murals on the walls, photos of Stevie Wonder, MLK and others on the wall, looks family-owned. But I can’t cook Jamaican food, So this is the next best thing.

I like this place because they make a lil of everything, food is fresh and flavorful… they also inexpensive. I ordered goat roti today and i loved it i just wish they filled the container with goat instead of gravy and a lil cabbage for almost $ 8.Thats my only issue but i would go back and try something else definitely. I wish there was more homestyle Caribbean restaurants in the lower parts of the bronx but feeding tree definitely has my vote!

Tucked away in a small storefront near the Bronx Supreme Courthouse lies the Feeding Tree. No, it’s not much to look at, but, the food is great. The jerk chicken is a must have, it is intensely flavorful, juicy and reminiscent of real Jamaican jerk chicken. The sides it comes with are tasty as well. The staff is very friendly and nice, and happy to answer any questions. I’ve yet to try the oxtail but looking forward to it in the near future!

Let me start by saying that I’m in search of the perfect Jamaican oxtail stew in NYC. I’ll travel wherever I’ll have to in order to find it/get it. I’ve tried many Jamaican places in both Manhattan and Brooklyn, so this time, I decided to trek to the Bronx to try this place because of the good Unilocal reviews I’d read. The service was a tad on the slow side. The woman at the register was a bit slow/hard at hearing, so that was a bit of a turn-off. In addition, while I was eating a man off the street came in to try to sell perfumes to the patrons of the restaurant. He left a trail of scent after he left, which was not very appetizing. The food was ok. The oxtail stew was good, though not the best I’ve had. The rice and peas did not stand out at all, just standard. Just cooked rice with peas thrown into it, not seasoned at all. The candied yams were meh. Despite being in the Bronx, eating at this place was not particularly cheap, either, though the prices were still very reasonable. Overall, a decent place with good oxtail stew if you’re in the area. However, the not-so-spectacular sides would not warrant a return visit from me.

Damn I forgot how good Jerk Chicken was. Meaty chunks of spicy goodness along with a drumstick. The rice was so very good, too. The small was a generous portion. Highly recommended.

In terms of oxtail stew, this place is top notch. The meat is unbelievable tender and the sauce is just damn good. They serve it over rice & peas a heaping mound of rice and peas, which absorbs the liquid and takes it to the next level. The only thing I regret is not getting a large order! It’s in a pretty good spot, about a block away from the Yankees Stadium. And in all honesty, this is far better food than you can find in the area. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m around for a game!

I really really enjoyed the food except that it was cold. I ordered the beef patty which was amazing, warm and had lots of flavor. I was so excited for my oxtail with rice and peas. The odd thing was that it was cold. The two other people that were with me had cold food too. They took a very long time to bring the dishes out too, like 20 minutes. Flavor was all there but it was cold. The server was nice.

I don’t see what’s so special about feeding tree to be honest. I’ve had the jerk chicken which came with rice and peas and cabbage. I felt like the cabbage was delicious but the rice and peas and jerk chicken lacked a bit of flavor. I had tried the beef patties also because of how popular they seemed to be but was disappointed with that as well. I think this place would be ideal for someone who likes mild Caribbean food. Overall my experience was okay, I don’t think I will be back though.

My buddies and I were looking for some food before a Yankees game. I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I’m glad that we did. I got a small jerk chicken combo. The combos come with two sides; I got rice and beans and candied yams. The yams weren’t as sweet as I thought they would be, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing; just know that they’re not very candy-like. The jerk chicken had great flavor and the sauce was awesome for mixing with the rice. I’m not a regular to NY, but I’ll make a point to visit if I’m back in the area.

Great spot for a meal before a Yankees game! Literally right around the corner from the stadium yet somehow the Feeding Tree is out of all the chaos — it’s a no-frills, quiet spot to eat on a shady side street. We were seated quickly. Service was friendly, prices are inexpensive, and I wanted everything on the menu. We started with a spicy beef patty and then we ordered the goat curry and the jerk chicken. Both meats were tender and delicious, served with huge piles of rice and cabbage. In and out in about 45 minutes, right in time for some baseball!

I would come here every Wednesday and Friday after school for this dish and now that I’m bicoastal it’s the first place I dine when I land! The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth and not to mention the gravy and sides are just right all the time… Omg!!! No matter what burrough your from its worth the trip.

Kicking myself that I’ve spent all these years going to Yankee games and have just now stumbled across this gem. Friendly staff, amazing food, and the true definition of a hole-in-the-wall. What a find! I couldn’t decide between the oxtail and the curried goat, so the woman suggested I do both with a combo. Both were incredible, and everything just tasted incredible. Reasonably priced for the massive quantity of food provided. It was nice to be transported to the islands during the hot and humid summer months in the city. I will definitiely be back, and truly enjoyed my experience today! Thank you Feeding Tree!

I had to write about this place. The food was unbelievable. A party of 7 and we were served promptly with fall-from-the-bone tender meat. Best Jamaican food I’ve ever had. We all had different things, from the fried chicken to the goat and the oxtail. We couldn’t believe how delicious everything was. So cheap, so good, such great service! The only point off they would get is in advertising: The place is hard to find and some letters have fallen off the awning sign, but we figured they didn’t quite care because once you try it you definitely remember your way back!

Good food. Friendly and fast service. The seasoning was on point. Reminded me of the good food I’ve had at Caribbean friend’s homes. I’ve read the complaints about portions, but I have to say, I was pleased. I think if you want a larger portion, you should buy the medium or large sizes.

I love the name! Feeding Tree is a wonderful little Jamaican restaurant right around the corner from Yankee Stadium. While it’s not the best Jamaican/Caribbean food I’ve had in town, I certainly don’t have anything bad to say about it. Your usual Jamaican dishes from jerk chicken to beef stew are present, and you have the option of small, medium, or large bowls. For lunch, medium should be more than adequate, and large is better for dinner. Small would be more fitting for a snack or for kids. The meat, rice, and plantain are indeed very tasty, but unfortunately, I wish they would give a slightly larger portion of meat, with less rice. Oh, and the cornbread is pretty darn good, as expected. You can tell upon initial entry that Feeding Tree has been around for awhile, with its well worn signage, tables, and counters, and above all, the CRTTV with quite a bit of mileage on it. All of this lends to the character of the place, and should not negatively impact your experience in any way. Surprisingly, the single unisex restroom is extremely tidy. The staff is also polite and welcoming, but not overly chatty. There was no game going on when I last visited Feeding Tree, so it was relatively slow around 6pm, but I could imagine it being packed to the gills when the Yankees are in town. It is certainly a great option in the area if you are not too keen on getting ripped off by stadium food.

I’m highly upset that I didn’t come across this place sooner! I was in the mood for some West Indian/Caribbean food so I decided to Google some restaurants in the Bronx. This happened to be one of the restaurants that I came across in my search. I ordered the medium Oxtail and Rice & Peas… Delicious! The meat literally falls off the bone. Now let’s talk about the Fish Cakes that I almost missed out on if it wasn’t for another customer who ordered them so I said to myself why not give a try… Lord have Mercy Delicious! So delicious that they didn’t make it home and it didn’t make it any better that I was hungry but you know what… that’s not the point! I will definitely return to the restaurant and hopefully try the Curried Chicken or the Jerk Chicken.

The food here is pretty good and the service is fast. The pricing however is very high especially when they cram the foul container with mostly rice, lettuce, and plantains to hide the fact that you’re getting 3 – 4 very small pieces of oxtail. The location is also pretty dirty.

Super delish!!! I would definitely go back when in the area!!! Oxtail was super yum, only have medium and large size, jerk chicken had a nice kick of spice to it, YUMMY! I wanted to try the goat curry but there were only two of us on a foodie trip so can’t eat too much at each place. Definitely kept our bellies warm on a super cold winter day, for us Bay Area folk. It is right up the street from Yankee stadium if goin for tour. There were other spots to eat but thought this place would hit the spot. One bad thing, even if lock door for bathroom they can still buzz someone in, so make sure u let someone know when u go in and leave.
