Update… It went from bad to worse. Effective plumbing was scheduled to install my new tub and I asked a neighbor to let them in because I was unable to take ANOTHER day off from work to deal with this nonsense. Nevertheless, I go home during my break to check on the progress and low and behold, the are installing the old, broken tub back into my bathroom. The tub that they took out two weeks prior and left in my dining room. I called the office and apparently no one bothered to measure the bathroom or the bathtub to see if the new tub they ordered would fit. Obviously it didn’t fit and he bathroom is now in worse shape then before. The only difference is I was out of a shower at home for two weeks for absolutely no reason. Effective Plumbing should change their name to Effective Buffoonery. PS– They actually did leave me with something new… A huge scratch mark on my wood floor in the dining room, where they left the old tub for 2 weeks.

After discovering a small but urgent leak this morning I called up Effective Plumbing to see what next steps were. Since I don’t speak plumber, we decided that for me to effectively communicate my problem and for him to be sure he had the correct parts for me, that I would send him some cell phone snaps of my leaky faucet. Shortly after doing so we were back on the horn and he correctly diagnosed the problem as a(very simple) lose fitting and talked me through tightening it over the phone. Effective Plumbing may not be able to do the same for every problem but I really appreciated the desire to be thorough and then their willingness to talk me through a simple fix.

I am a property manager, and have dealt with various types of workers, with varied skill levels. I have been using Effective Plumbing for about 30 years. And over that time I have dealt with various dispatchers and technicians. So I have worked with many of their technicians and dispatchers. They have come in every emergency, even on the weekends. I have encountered only one bad tech, and in that case I called the office and told them not to send him back. The other techs have been very good, knew what they were doing and worked fast. I have learned in this business you should not expect every worker/technician/contractor to be all sweetness and light. If they are able to. troubleshoot, are through, and work fast, I have no problem. I would recommend them.

I’d give one-and-a-half stars. Good, up-to-date technology, and plenty of staff, but one of those many reasons that makes living on the East Coast miserable. Disorganized and misleading staff, they do not honor their appointments, and you have to fight to get them to do their work. Good luck finding a professional, quality plumber in NYC, though. One of the highest rated Unilocal plumbers did such poor work that I had to fix almost everything he worked on.
