It shouldn’t be so uncomfortable to order food. Most of the staff look angry and the cashier doesn’t like to make eye contact. The food is good and its open late.

I ordered pernil, white rice, red beans and sweet plantains for dinner. The food was good. not off the charts good, but good. Ambiance is lacking. There was a service person restocking cleaned plates onto a shelf and was tossing them into place. I can’t tell you how loud… how ear-piercing and irritating this was. If it had continued any longer, I would have walked out. The service is equally as horrid. The Wait-staff and counter-people are not friendly people. A simple hello, smile, thank you and good-bye goes a long way in making a customer feel welcomed. I received none of these. Lastly, the dessert display is disgusting. It needs a real good cleaning.

Standard Latin fare. Different yellow rices are good. Especially rice with beans. The empenadas are greasy/overcooked. Perhaps sitting in their drained oil. The rotisserie type chicken was a little dry. The stewed beef(beef stew or carne guisada) should be avoided. Somehow the beef is still NOT tender, very sinewy. NOT at all enjoyable. The flavor… was none. Almost no spices/seasoning to speak off.

Service was horrible, not friendly at all. I ordered food to go. Oven roasted chicken with yellow rice and beans. I thought it would bring some yellow plantains but it did not. The chicken was soo dry the rice was hard. NOTWORTHTHEMONEY.

Horrible customer service. But definitely have the strongest coffee. Never order mofongo because it’s pure oil. I know they ranked a C once so I’m a bit skeptical.

The food is pretty good, not amazing at all. The women who work at this establishment are so condescending and stuck in their patriarchal lifestyles that it disgusts me. Avoid this place, especially on Sundays.

Is the Bronx too hood for Unilocalers? You’re missing out Unilocalers AND how can you call yourself a Unilocaler if you don’t eat outside your comfort zone. PATHETIC! Anywho, I believe this is Puerto Rican food… I could be wrong. I ate pork mofongo. Honestly, when I heard the name I was disgusted(mofongo sounds like something I would nickname my down there when I was mad at it) Anywho…mofongo…the food was delish. It’s plantain, potatoes and pork rinds all mushed together(i think) I could be making all this up so go research it if you’re a real foodie. Anywho it was really good. I’m a sucker for potatoes(starch in general) and then the crunch surprise of the thin pork rinds was a nice surprise. I couldn’t eat it all, it’s a lot… and it’s pretty greasy but it’s worth the try. Fried plantains are my fave. They sell a good sized container of them for about $ 3, I think. Such a yummy dessert. Again, lots of grease. Chicken is BOMB. Their spices make my mouth water and the chicken is ever so tender(and greasy, I think you see a pattern here) Anywho, we got delivery, that was cool. I went to the restaurant the next day and the set up is kinda like a buffet/cafeteria. They have the setup and you choose what you want and they serve it for you. Nice little seating area. It’s right by the 4 train, so you don’t have to walk too far into the Bronx if you’re scared or too good. Oh, yeah I drank a «morir sonando» …Which translates into«dying dreaming»…Kind of morbid if you ask me… but that’s how I do(haha morbidly obese that is!) It’s O. J and milk… I could swear I was told not to mix those two together when I was little because I would get diarrhea… Well it tasted good and I didn’t get diarrhea from it BUT I will warn you, I drank O. J and Milk afterward at home and the end result was not good for me… that may be that I’m also lactose intolerant but I refuse to acknowledge it. Caridad must have the anti diarrhea secret! I doubt anyone will try this place but I stand behind it! Decent prices too. P.S if you happen to be from San Diego(fat chance) and are still debating whether to visit this place or not… Imagine a Puerto Rican version of University Ave. SUPERCOCINA and that’s what you have here. Who dares to venture into undiscovered territory? Anyone?
